Probably taking a masterclass from Humberside police.

Who? And in what way?

Tuba437 · 10/03/2022 20:16

Interesting from Macron, saying he doesn't expect a ceasefire in the coming hours yet he is optimistic after speaking with Putin today.

nonono1 · 10/03/2022 20:24

I don’t understand why the Russian embassy in London is still allowed a Twitter account? Confused

Papertyger · 10/03/2022 20:33

@EsmaCannonball

Not Just Blair look at Bush and Also others around that time

I'd definitely use their off spring enjoying our lovely liberal West as collateral.
I would not hurt them or treat them badly but I do think putting them up in nice House's in strategic places would be a good idea.

Rowgtfc72 · 10/03/2022 20:43

Humberside police?
Yes that's my local force. Unfortunately.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 10/03/2022 20:52

Oooh if we are going with politicians who's names begin with B....... Wink

DGRossetti · 10/03/2022 20:53

Very interesting

www.theregister.com/2022/03/10/us_warns_chinese_chipmakers/

It is a world war.

Febrier · 10/03/2022 20:55

But in what way are they "bad" @Rowgtfc72?

Justanotherlurker · 10/03/2022 20:59

I know Twitter and a lot of 'it's a private company' crowd have set the precedent over the past few years in regards to this kinda thing. It is kind of absurd for them not to apply it to the Russian embassy, but in my mind you don't win against Putin by playing his game and censoring things. It only fuels his narrative that the West is hypocritical and Russophobic

The 'critical thinkers' should be able to see the bullshit first hand rather than through a mediated narrative of only a select few are visible of, it's not going to stop there stuff being on TikTok/Telegram or elsewhere.

Libertybear80 · 10/03/2022 21:01

An embassy is an extension of the country though. The uk don't have any jurisdiction over that.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 10/03/2022 21:06

I think they’ve bombed that Institute of Physics again about an hour ago.

I may be wrong.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 10/03/2022 21:10

It's a shame Macron hasn't cottoned on that Putrid is just trolling him.

ArabellaStrange · 10/03/2022 21:13

@EsmaCannonball I'm with you on that one too.

ArabellaStrange · 10/03/2022 21:14

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow where is that info from and what are the implications?

Justanotherlurker · 10/03/2022 21:14

@DGRossetti

This has been a thing for a few years now, hence why Trump said it was shifting focus on China and the uproar of Huwai onto western networks to put it on simplistic terms, it's also why Western intel was focussing on China's belt and road into Africa.

The Reg has been running stories on this for years, it's only very interesting if you wasn't quite aware of the geoplicitcal landscape (this comes across as more goady than i mean it to be)

ArabellaStrange · 10/03/2022 21:15

Putrid is good but I personally think Poo-Tin is also a good name for the fucker.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 10/03/2022 21:18

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow This one ?

Joyce Karam @joyce_karam
NEW: #China - Russia Shifts

• China Refuses to Supply Russian Airlines with Plane Parts
• CIA: China’s Xi ‘Unsettled’ by War
• Yellen: Sanctions Limiting China’s Sales of Ru Oil

China walking a tricky line: It values/wants to maintain its alliance w Russia but doesn't want to risk US & EU sanctions.

CIA Dir. said Chinese intelligence did not foresee this state of play for Russia's invasion nor communicate it to Prez Xi. Interesting dynamic to watch

www.thenationalnews.com/world/us-news/2022/03/10/us-intelligence-chiefs-say-china-is-unsettled-over-russias-war-in-ukraine/
US intelligence chiefs say China is ‘unsettled’ over Russia’s war in Ukraine
Beijing did not foresee outcome where Russian forces struggle in Ukraine, intelligence directors say

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 10/03/2022 21:20

Vladiminge Poo Tin

I hope all his teeth abscess and he can't get a dentist to go near him 🦷

Justanotherlurker · 10/03/2022 21:20

To also add, it crosses over into the Climate Crisis situation rather neatly, people think that it's a simple solution of just switching, without understanding of the rare minerals needed not only to achieve it but for the meme of 'you complaining about slavery while sitting on your iphone in starbucks' and an example of thinking that if you ban someone from twitter then all the bad thoughts go away.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 10/03/2022 21:21

Yeah, that’s the one.😢

I think they all do. Isn't it more a case of giving Putin enough rope...

Easier to rally people and get them on side to act with you if you can amass evidence of how untrustworthy he is etc etc.

Plus it helps with embarrassing China into distancing from Russia. Bit tricky for them to stick to their "leave us to continue our genocide, we don't interfere in the domestic affairs of other countries so don't interfere in ours" shtick if they're supporting Russia to interfere in the domestic affairs of a country by bloody invading it.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 10/03/2022 21:31

The Chinese have definitely backed the wrong horse.

@Wrongkindofovercoat

So reserves don't equate to production also the 500k reserves are unproven in Ukraine.

Making a massive assumption that all unproven reserves turn in proven then 500k reserves would give a production of about 5,000 tones of lithium per year at a price of $17000 per tonne or $85 million per year. Of which at least half is capex and opex giving a max annual profit of somewhere around $ 40 million per year.

Compared to Chile or Australia it really is bugger all.

I imagine it might not be easy for Russia to get Australian lithium for a while. Dunno if Chile would sell to them.
