How many pizzas would you have ordered?

Following a tense situation this evening I though I'd consult the hive mind.

Friday night dinner for 6 adults - how much would you expect you'd need to order?

(Dominoes/Pizza Hut style pizza)

@dirtyfries

Ok I've found my people Grin Yes I'm the BF travelling mother so perhaps a larger appetite than normal.

The original order was 1x medium & 1x personal sized pizza plus a little 4 slice garlic bread.
After much prodding an extra medium pizza was added.
What boggles my mind is that the order was made by a man who always orders a mixed grill in restaurants if available on the menu so it's not like he has a small appetite!

I'm in bed with the baby, I've just text DH who's downstairs to go get me a subway Blush

Christ I'd be starving after travelling and bf too needs calories and lots of them.

I would've got 6 six pizzas and 6 or more sides. But then at my very small lockdown 50th I ordered quite a lot of food for 5 people. I hate people going hungry, I send off a lot of leftovers if there are any with whoever wants to takethem-- my son.

LadyPropane · 04/03/2022 21:58

I'd order 5 or 6 plus sides.

I know it's a lot of food but I'd always rather have too much and live on leftovers afterwards than risk having too little if I'm hosting people. (I accept that I'm lucky to be able to afford to do this, before someone jumps in and tells me that they can't even afford beans on toast for dinner and I don't live in the real world etc)

Svara · 04/03/2022 21:59

Three

PyongyangKipperbang · 04/03/2022 21:59

I dont eat much at all these days but I do over cater for others so I would probably order 8 plus sides!

That order is shockingly small. I am guessing ...... DF, DFIL or DB, who will happily order the biggest dinner going when they are not paying but will order less than bare minimum when its their turn to pay.

shssandhr · 04/03/2022 22:00

That's ridiculous for 6 people. Just not enough.
I would have ordered 3 large ones with sides.
I had a get together with 6 people before Christmas and we ordered 4 large ones without sides - and it was about the right amount. THere were a few slices left over for everyone to take home.

Clymene · 04/03/2022 22:00

@BoodleBug51

3.

Half a pizza is a colossal amount of calories.

Obviously that would be your first thought Hmm
Mama1980 · 04/03/2022 22:01

6 large pizzas plus sides

Windbeneathmybingowings · 04/03/2022 22:02

Oh dear. I order 2 large and one medium to feed my fam of 5. 2 are under 5!

I really didn't want to make this an in-law bashing thread but yes as many have guessed it was FIL.

Lovely lovely man, I think too prideful to say it was more expensive than he'd anticipated/didn't understand to utilise the deals.

Very out of character which is why I asked the question! I do tend to pig out when it comes to pizza

No wonder you’re hungry!! What a let down! 🙈

I am like this, I would rather have left overs than think for one second that people went home hungry. That said, I wouldnt host if I couldnt afford to over cater!
deadlanguage · 04/03/2022 22:04

3 large, possibly with 2 garlic breads

It does put a slightly different spin on it. Plus, it's hard to gauge if you haven't ordered take out pizza before.

I always have to order my parents takeaway. Drives me nuts!

JunkIsland · 04/03/2022 22:05

I’m trying to imagine how 1 medium, 1 small pizza and four slices of garlic bread even divides across five people. What kind of calculation was involved in coming up with that? Was the extra medium added in the expectation that there would now be such a bounty of food that precise calculation wasn’t needed?!

Hippee · 04/03/2022 22:05

If it's Dominos, it's unreasonable to order an odd number, because you won't get the BOGOF that makes it affordable (can you tell I'm from Yorkshire?)

Don't they know that you need 500 extra calories a day as a BF mum? I calculated mine in single finger Twixes.

dirtyfries · 04/03/2022 22:06

@HunterHearstHelmsley although with that being said he does regularly order a dominos just for him so he's not that oblivious

Thinkbiglittleone · 04/03/2022 22:07

6 pizzas, couple of garlic bread, maybe sides if people fancy them.

Another different spin then!! Grin

PurpleDaisies · 04/03/2022 22:09

Dh and I would share a large pizza so three would have been my order. Plus garlic bread. That’s what we had for dinner (freezer version for budget reasons!)

doadeer · 04/03/2022 22:10

4 large pizzas for 6 people

Okeydoky · 04/03/2022 22:11

I'm BFing and would need a large pizza to myself. Plus a side. I'm constantly ravenous and also enjoying being able to eat whatever I like and still lose weight.

bjjgirl · 04/03/2022 22:12

6, but I don't do sides, my friend and I are all fit and healthy but working out gives a healthy appetite

PyongyangKipperbang · 04/03/2022 22:13

So presumably would know that what he ordered wouldnt feed 6 adults if he orders for himself and has a big appetite. Most big eaters I know could polish off a large on their own so I dont believe for one second that he didnt know he was under ordering.

I'm sorry but this is coming across as stingy rather than unknowing.

I would have thanked him for the pizza he paid for and then reordered for everyone else, with no apology.
