How many pizzas would you have ordered?

Following a tense situation this evening I though I'd consult the hive mind.

Friday night dinner for 6 adults - how much would you expect you'd need to order?

(Dominoes/Pizza Hut style pizza)

If the six adults were at a pizza restaurant would everyone order one each?

Smaller ones maybe but not Domino's large size. Restaurant pizza is rarely that big, probably because it's designed to be a meal for one person.

4-5 large pizzas plus a few sides.

Haven’t read the whole thread.

I’d order three large pizzas, three wedges, three chicken strips and maybe a garlic bread.

It would depend on deals available and what everyone wanted toppings wise … but I would go for 1/2 large pizza per person. Plus an additional pizza that could be shared out and a few substantial sides/salad

Depends on the size of the pizza… besides don’t the often do special offers so it’s not exactly going to cost loads to buy o more than you suspect (people always nibble more of pizzas don’t they?). And sides - gotta have garlic bread, onion rings, coleslaw…

The more you buy with Dominos the bigger the discount you get so its in their interest to buy extra

If dh and I have Dominos (rare), we end up with enough to last all weekend.

Buy some pizza in store and make a nice mixed salad, throw some wedges in the oven and buy or make some dips

Yes but the point is they wanted a take away. Sometimes people don't want to have to make salad and dips, put wedges in the oven etc. They want the luxury of someone handing them a meal that's ready to eat.

Not necessarily.

When we get a takeaway it is usually at a time when we've been away for the weekend and yet to get the food shop delivered or towards the end of the week, days after a shop has been but before the next one has arrived.

So little to no fresh food in let alone a full salad.

1. If there's any leftover, that's breakfast sorted for the next day!

I would. I'm extraordinarily greedy when it comes to pizza and I hate sharing my food.

I couldnt eat a large now but there was a time when I definitely could have done. DS is 16 and will hoover up a large plus sides plus anyone elses leftovers, luckily we only have it about once every six months or so!

My friend invited us for dinner and made pizza and wedges. Two slices of pizza each and about a quarter of a medium potato each. Took a bottle of wine. Was offered one glass all evening (I went into kitchen and helped myself after two hours to my own wine).
If I was going to do pizza it would be whole pizza each or if I knew people were watching calories I'd do a spinach salad with half a pizza each minimum. I'd rather have too much than people be hungry

Probably 4-5 as I hate feeling like I'm under serving and I know what isn't eaten, DH will have the day after.

Or just 4 with plenty of garlic bread if Dominos as I love it so much.
