How many pizzas would you have ordered?

Following a tense situation this evening I though I'd consult the hive mind.

Friday night dinner for 6 adults - how much would you expect you'd need to order?

(Dominoes/Pizza Hut style pizza)

Or 5-6 smalls

LuckySantangelo35 · 04/03/2022 21:49

Missing lunch doesn’t mean you’re going to eat double the amount at dinner though does it? Your stomach isn’t going to be twice the size just because you’ve missed a meal

pictish · 04/03/2022 21:50

I’m not a big pizza person. It’s very overrated and often greasy. Half a pizza does me but that’s only because it’s not my favourite. If I was feeding other people I’d push the boat out and order four between six. Half each plus extra. With sides.

That order is so mean. Hope you get your subway.

Cosmicbird · 04/03/2022 21:50

I’d say 4 and sides, any leftovers for breakfast :)

merrymelodies · 04/03/2022 21:50

Get lots of pizza! It's gorgeous cold from the fridge next day for breakfast.Smile

CowboyJo · 04/03/2022 21:50

@HemanOrSheRa I'm just speaking from personal experience! Grin Men do eat more than woman!

We've been to Pizza Hut in the past after going to the pictures with the family. DS is 8 years old - he and DH demolished a salad, a full pizza AND a bowl of ice cream. Me and the DDs could barely finish our pizzas.

Pfbing · 04/03/2022 21:50

I'm also currently BF, I've driven 3 hours today, and we just had dominos so I feel we are comparable....

Right for lunch I had a jacket potato with chilli and a side of onion rings. So I'm already waaaay ahead of you.

Order for me and DH was 2 medium pizzas, wedges and chicken kickers!! There is 1 slice of each pizza left (and that's only left cause I'm bloody dairy free now and vegan cheese gets hard to stomach for a full pizza!!)

100% subway needed!!

CushionSpiral · 04/03/2022 21:51

Wow, so they only ordered enough food for 2 people…..
Make sure to tell them your DH is going out to get you more food!

Noisyprat · 04/03/2022 21:51

You should have said, 'oh great, mine's arrived when are the rest coming' Grin.

That's is a ridiculously small amount of food, were they worried about who was paying?

ItsAlwaysThere · 04/03/2022 21:51

4 12" ones or 3 depending how much they eat. Plus side dishes.

Sofasogood1 · 04/03/2022 21:51

Worst thing I've ever read on here. I am SHOOK. Who are these awful people you're visiting

paintfairy · 04/03/2022 21:51

Ludicrous. DH and I both have one each if we are having it! If greedy we get large (often have some the next day for lunch) but we could manage with medium each. For a group of 6, I think anything from 3 large upwards would be ok, with sides, all depending on the people and how hungry they are. But I would gauge that before ordering.

I'm surprised you even needed to check that what they had done was reasonable! 🤣

KindlyKanga · 04/03/2022 21:52

I was going to say if they don't normally order pizza maybe they assumed the takeaway ones are more filling than they are?

HTH1 · 04/03/2022 21:52

Agree, way too stingy.

user1471443411 · 04/03/2022 21:52

6 regular or 4 or 5 large.

Scout2016 · 04/03/2022 21:53

How did this happen? Were they actually only ordering for them and their OH, then realised too late that looked bad on them so pretended that it was always meant to be for everyone?
I can't compute the logic.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 04/03/2022 21:54

Five pizzas and two loaves would be more than enough to feed a multitude.

dirtyfries · 04/03/2022 21:54

Lesson learnt to take over ordering next time.

Very tricky, it was being ordered as "my treat".
No one was asked what they wanted. I asked what the various toppings where as DH has allergies which was when we found out the measly proposed order.

Offers to chip in were rejected and final order submitted without telling anyone.

In good news, DH has just delivered a slice of toast, babybel and a kitkat. What a gem

Probably 4. Though if it was Dominos I would go for that big family deal which has lots of sides in the hope that others would fill themselves up on the garlic pizza bread, leaving more of the yummy yummy pizza for me.

But when I was catering for large groups (50ish) I would go for half a pizza each, plus salad and crisps. Generally had plenty left over, but people are more polite in those situations and more keen to chat than go back up for more.

Chrispackhamspoodle · 04/03/2022 21:55

6.I remember going to a friends for takeout and forlornly watch her serve out a 1/4 of a pizza each to us all.I was so hungry.

CastleCrasher · 04/03/2022 21:55

That's a ridiculously mean order, it's less than we would order between 2 adults and 2 primary aged DC! Shock

Scout2016 · 04/03/2022 21:56

Oh no, are you on holiday with this person? Some needs to have a word OP, or be on high alert next meal time.

Tonkerbea · 04/03/2022 21:57

So was it your FIL who put in the stingy order?

Booklover3 · 04/03/2022 21:57

That’s a terrible host!

TheresSomebodyAtTheDoorNeil · 04/03/2022 21:57

3 large and a bucket of wings from the chippy over the road (( 30 hot and spicy are about a tenner))

Id stick my own garlic bread in (( goodfellas)) and wedges.

This is because im tight as a ducks arse. And I can cover all sides with zero effort
