covetingthepreciousthings · 02/03/2022 20:53

Thanks for the new thread, they certainly move fast.

TheSillyMastiff · 02/03/2022 20:55

Thanks for the new thread.

Looks like the MIG that came down was due to poor weather conditions. No need to panic anyone.

Tigersonvaseline · 02/03/2022 20:56

Thanks op.

Re peregrine post (sp)

Being reminded of oligarchs root's and money being firmly planted under a labour government, isn't what I call what about ery.

Surely we need to be aware this isn't solely a Tory issue?
All political people/ parties are vulnerable to bribes, donations, lobbying And we need new laws to uphold the upmost transparency across all parties?

Tigersonvaseline · 02/03/2022 20:59

Well yes but obviously a point of vulnerability to any government ? As highlighted?

Don't you agree, we need new laws to ensure transparency And integrity going forward ?

Suggestions that Putin may be about to impose Martial Law in Russia:

From The Guardian live updates:

"The Russian Federation Council is set to hold an unscheduled meeting on Friday, leading to widespread speculation in Moscow that the country might impose martial law.
The introduction of martial law would give the authorities sweeping powers to limit freedom of movement and freedom of speech. Martial law has been introduced in modern Russia.

Tatyana Stanovaya, a prominent Russian political analyst and founder of R.Politik on Wednesday evening tweeted that introducing a martial law would be a “logical scenario.”

“The proclamation of martial law will allow the authorities to introduce military censorship, to increase the secrecy of the state’s activities and the actions of local bodies.”

With the introduction of martial law, the powers of elected bodies, local authorities and officials are automatically extended.

The last time an unscheduled meeting of the Federation Council was called, the body approved President Vladimir Putin permission to use military force outside the country, two days prior to the country’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24th."

Mig probably, hopefully, inconveniently because of weather

BUT.

If Russia downed it then it's a massive test of NATO's resolve. Do they say accident or do they say attack? If it's NATO that downed it in a false flag then what? (I don't suspect the latter as likely).

This is just a thought, mig21 is old crap. Perhaps brought out of store for reservist use? I wouldn't know about that.

Would marshal law in Russia mean less military available for fighting?

EsmaCannonball · 02/03/2022 21:04

On the Abramovich point, not only was the statement worded in such a way that it was unclear which victims of the war will be receiving the money, it also said 'net proceeds,' which could be precisely nothing.

Postdatedpandemic · 02/03/2022 21:05

@FatCatThinCat

Would marshal law in Russia mean less military available for fighting?
Presumably they would use the police for internal affairs.

Well thats either a power grab move or the sign of a very paranoid leader who is up shit creek.
Inthesameboatatmo · 02/03/2022 21:06

Thanks for the new thread op

Tigersonvaseline · 02/03/2022 21:06

Marshal law, wow! The grip is loosening.

Who owned the mig? If it's so old would it even be from a country? Not plane fanatic?

Bunnyfuller · 02/03/2022 21:07

Romania has, I think, old MiG-21s the same as many countries buy old military hardware.

MarshaBradyo · 02/03/2022 21:07

Thanks for new thread, a bit tense but hoping for some rays of light

Tigersonvaseline · 02/03/2022 21:08

Thanks for the new thread.
I'm curious about the posts saying Zelenskyy is a US puppet. He was elected in 2019, during the Trump presidency - was that the successful outcome of a strategy devised under Obama or Trump?
The transcript of the phone call between Trump and Zelenskyy reveals the latter to be a bit fawning, saying he'd stayed at Trump's hotel. But then when Trump tried to get Zelenskyy to incriminate Biden, he stood his ground, leading to a huge freeze on aid to Ukraine and a refusal to invite him to the White House, which would have been a show of US support for Ukraine against Putin.
Who was pulling his strings at that point?

I'd like more details on this puppetry.
