Bring your favourite flops/shoulda been hits to a new audience Smile The only rule is, they cannot have made the UK Top 40.

My first choice - Humpe and Humpe, ‘Careless Love’. The duo changed their name to Swimming With Sharks (the name of their album) in the UK, for fairly obvious reasons Grin

@BuddhaForMary hello fellow Shinedown fan!

I listen to a fair amount of obscure stuff.

I always feel Lyriel should be more popular, the song is one of my all time favourite.

Don't know if this is obscure enough given it's on Jools Holland but it certainly was not a chart hit

Anhoni and the Johnsons Hope There's Someone.

Laney79 · 26/02/2022 07:04

Not sure how obscure it is but Cake, short skirt long jacket.

LefttoherownDevizes · 26/02/2022 07:28

@crosbystillsandmash I had a VERY odd moment in Church a few weeks ago when they got out the parachute for the kids and I was straight back to Whirl-y-gig. Of course none of the other adults had a clue what I was on about.

Yes, used to go to Shoreditch Town Hall, was a right old schlepp from Richmond every week, aged 17. I'd have kittens if my DC did the same.

Trying to explain to DH about there being kids there.

I, too would love to go back for a night (thankful it finished at 12 as I'd struggle to find the stamina to even make it to then tbh)

Nick Cave - Into my Arms Reef - Don’t go Changing your mind
I love Into My Arms. It's a beautiful song.

I've never met anyone who's actually heard of that song!

I'm so glad you suggested it.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 26/02/2022 07:43

I love The Fureys & Davey Arthur 'Sweet Sixteen'.

It really stirs something in me.

A great thread, OP. 👍

Remembered another very weird one that my sister introduced me to! Shia LeBeough...

HeartshapedFox · 26/02/2022 16:36

@hugoagogo I had no idea Up the Junction
charted at number 2!!
Most people I know haven’t heard of it, or Squeeze, so it’s an obscure one for me.

Paradise from Footloose Smile

Proper Footloose with Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer.

The testimony of Patience Kershaw. Based on real interview with a young woman who worked in coalmines in 19th century. Shows how hard life was and is painfully sad. Great bit of social history put to music by the Unthanks.

Only Love Can Break Your Heart - Saint Etienne
Just double checked and this reached number 39 on its second release so I'm changing it to Crimson and Clover by Tommy James and the Shondells
