That you either bought or were given as new?

Mine is a signet ring my DF gave me for passing my 11 plus. Its 52 years old and I've never taken it off since the day he gave it to me.

My laundry basket is at least 40 years old. There's a photo of me as a baby sitting in it.

ElizabethBennetismybestfriend · 25/02/2022 15:35

Musical instrument. Mine for 40 years. Instrument itself over 200 years old

JohnStonesMissus · 25/02/2022 15:36

We have a clock that is from the 1700s, I often wonder how many people over the years have looked at it's face.....quite a few I expect!

Seeline · 25/02/2022 15:38

Sandwich toaster I won in a church raffle in 1983. It still works perfectly, but won't fit a modern sized slice of bread so DH keeps trying to replace it. It works better than all the ones he's bought (which still don't take a modern size slice).

Traumdeuter · 25/02/2022 15:42

Some of these are amazing - clocks and signet rings and musical instruments with history.

I have a Pyrex casserole dish from the early 1970s…

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 25/02/2022 15:42

I've got a Roman flask

LaurieFairyCake · 25/02/2022 15:43

Roman Coins

Eritrean oil lamp - it's BC so at least 2000 years old

I have a Tudor ring - so 500 ish years old (I collect Jewellery from every era)

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 25/02/2022 15:44

I misread the OP - I am not an ancient vampire hanging on to the objects of my life in Roman times!

The oldest thing I've had from new is a laundry basket that was my crib as a baby.

AllYouCanEatBrestaurant · 25/02/2022 15:44

My wedding headdress is from the 1920s. Beautiful, delicate wax flowers on a wire band decorated with lace.

Vicliz24 · 25/02/2022 15:44

I have a family writing chest that I inherited. Apparently a 1600s ancestor was a sea captain and he took in on board his ships. It's 4 ft long and 3ft high ! I'm assuming he had servants

Cocomelonearworm · 25/02/2022 15:44

My kitchen table was made in 1860 ish, that's probably the oldest thing I own.

Ihavenoideawhatimdoinghelp · 25/02/2022 15:45

Maggiesgirl · 25/02/2022 15:45

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 25/02/2022 15:46

I have a collection of fossils which are several million years old.

I also have one of the first types of hand axe tools ever made by a primitive hominid.

80sMum · 25/02/2022 15:51

The oldest thing that I've had since it was new? I think it must be my teddy bear that my godparents gave me for my christening when I was a few months old, 64 years ago.

(The oldest thing I have that wasn't new when I acquired it is a Roman coin).

Discwriter · 25/02/2022 15:51

I have a first edition illustrated Peter Pan book from 1939.

Sunnyday321 · 25/02/2022 15:51

Possibly a ring , the hallmark is 1899 .
My oldest item of clothing is a summer dressing gown , probably mid 80s. 100% cotton and as good as new.

LolaLuffnagal · 25/02/2022 15:52

I have a 50 pence coin from 1952 and a halfpenny coin. I found them in my money box that I've had since I was 11 years old and I have no idea how they ended up in there Confused

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 25/02/2022 15:56

Dh has a rock called Nuummaite from Greenland which is dated at 2.8 billion years old.

I also have a fragment of meteorite of the Campo del Cielo meteorite which was formed 4.5 billion years ago during the development of our solar system.

JolieJ · 25/02/2022 15:59

My teddy bear - I got him when I was 3, I'm 36 now. But the oldest thing that's not mine, probably my grandmothers/mothers jewelry.
