That you either bought or were given as new?

Mine is a signet ring my DF gave me for passing my 11 plus. Its 52 years old and I've never taken it off since the day he gave it to me.

DH Grin Or you mean the thing I have had for the longest time in my life. That is three of four teddies I've had from birth. They are mainly in the loft but I have one tiny one about 10cm tall that sits on my dressing table.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 25/02/2022 17:31

First edition of Alice in Wonderland. Published 1865, bought by my DF in 1970, mine since 1991.

Lots of geological samples acquired in the last 30 years or so.

JustSinginIntheRain · 25/02/2022 17:37

A wedding ring from 1850.

MrsMoastyToasty · 25/02/2022 17:40

A Maundy coin from the reign of George the 4th.

Gindrinker43 · 25/02/2022 17:42

Stone age flint axe head found in our field

KimchiWithMe · 25/02/2022 17:43

I'd say my house but the building society own some of it so it's not all technically mine.

However, when I 'bought' the house I found a loom shuttle (the house was a Weavers cottage) which would have been used in the loom shop on the top floor. So it's probably about 270 years old.

Crackercrazy · 25/02/2022 17:45

My teddy bear which is nearly 40 years old. I still sleep with him every night.

Elpresidentedela14 · 25/02/2022 17:47

An Evian glass that was part of a promotional birth hamper that was given to my mum when I was born!

Enko · 25/02/2022 17:59

silver bowl with a dent in it I was given it as a memory of my godparents it is over 100 years old not worth a lot but sentimentally worth a great deal (I had wonderful Godparents)

DH has the writing box from his great grandmother its wood leather and brass with her initials and actually rather beautiful in its wornness.

Enko · 25/02/2022 18:02

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads What an amazing thing to have

SoManyTshirts · 25/02/2022 18:03

My teddy, or a little wicker basket I used to collect blackberries in as a small child. I don’t know which came first.

BirdsAndBiscuits · 25/02/2022 18:06

A 1908 Singer hand-cranked sewing machine with boat shuttle. I love it dearly and it still works perfectly.
My husband has a lot of old farming things and builders tools which have been passed down to him through several generations. Difficult to date most of them though.

Empra123 · 25/02/2022 18:08

I too have a musical instrument that I've had for about 40 years but is over 200 years old.

I also have some cutlery that was given to my great grandparents when they married in 1913. Much of it I use every day.

And my grandmother's watch. We don't know how old it is but grandmother died in 1933. I guess it might have been her 21st birthday present which would make it about 100 years old.

Nelliephant1 · 25/02/2022 18:23

My teddy. I got him a few months after I was born.

LoveFall · 25/02/2022 18:26

My cast iron Dutch Oven. I think it must be pushing 100. It is still going strong.

Belonged first to my grandparents. I love it.

cptartapp · 25/02/2022 18:27

My grandmothers 21st birthday present. She died six years ago aged ninety.

emmetgirl · 25/02/2022 18:31

My feet and they're knackered.

CoverYourselfInChocolateGlory · 25/02/2022 18:34

Oldest thing given as new? A baby doll from Canada that I got when I was 3. DD still plays with him.

NotPennysBoat · 25/02/2022 18:37

I have a collection of Stone Age arrow heads! I visited my cousins in Canada as a child and they had found hundreds over the years in the fields behind their house. Looking back there's probably some rules about me taking them!

Isseywith3witchycats · 25/02/2022 18:54
