Dunno about anybody else, but food is my comfort zone, my happy place. So bugger off doom and gloom, tonight we have homemade beef curry and basmati rice, and a Yealands 2021 Reserve Sauvignon Blanc. The Sav' Blanc is for me.

Yesterday was a paneer, black pepper and cashew curry - a new recipe from Olive magazine. It was delicious. Today I'm trying their chicken escalope with sweet and sour leeks. DD1 is a vegetarian so I'll have to think of something to do for her.

Today is sweet potato soup, cucumber and hoisin sauce sandwiches, and Nutella pancakes. Decided to give cakes and puddings up for Lent so I'm going out with a bang.

Farmers wife plait (sausage, apple and caramelised onion), roast sweet potato, broccoli, carrots. And of course pancakes for pudding!

LoveFall · 01/03/2022 19:46

Today will be what I call "winter stew," although I just learned it is meteorological spring today.

The stew has pieces of tender beef, potato, sweet potato, turnip, carrots, parsnip, celery, and onion in a nice stock. I use allspice berries and bay leaves. The allspice is what my Mum used based on her scandi ancestry.

I cook the beef first in the Instant Pot, then add the veggies and give it another pressure cook.

Very comforting and warming for a cold rainy day.

I've got a raging sore throat and burning chest (covid lateral flow test negative) and I'm just not hungry for dinner. Possibly the first time in my life!

MotherofPearl · 01/03/2022 22:09

Here you go @gingercat02. I wasn't sure which you wanted so I've photographed both recipes. As you can see, the curry page got a bit oil splattered! Highly recommend both recipes. I buy Olive magazine from time to time when I feel in a cooking rut.

Last night we had chicken paprikash.
Tonight it’s beef stroganoff.
Tomorrow normal service will resume with beans on toast or suchlike…

LottyD32 · 02/03/2022 10:50

Chicken and vegetable soup.

There's some lovely comforting and delicious sounding meals on here!

Tonight is another pasta/carb' hit - macaroni cheese.

Pasta is what this place runs on in times of stress - and these sure are stressful times - what with one doing mock GCSE's, and the other doing A level mocks, before you even get started on what else is going on!

Ooo love macaroni cheese. We often do it with brocolli too so it's like a mix.

Tonight is turkey tacos. Tacos always a win here as everyone can pick and choose what toppings etc they want and build their own

ODFOx · 02/03/2022 12:02

Tonight DD is in the kitchen so we are having loaded Shakshuka fries.
Basically a Shakshuka sauce with lots of veg and red peppers so it's quite sweet over oven chips with feta crumbled over it.

MotherofPearl · 02/03/2022 12:19

I'm doing an orzo tuna pasta bake this evening, which includes lots of olives, capers and preserved lemon. With a green salad.

BuddhaForMary · 02/03/2022 12:30

DC at dads tonight so I'll be in my pjs early. Leftover chilli and cornbread from yesterday, with sour cream and feta, and probably a drop of wine with Netflix for company.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 02/03/2022 13:53

Fish curry (mixed white and salmon in a red curry sauce with some coconut cream) served with whichever vegetables I can rustle up and a mix of cauliflower rice with rice.

DoraSpenlow · 02/03/2022 14:11

Tonight we having, for me chicken kyiv, for DH chicken cordon bleu (chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella and wrapped in bacon) both freshly made at our local butcher. Roast potatoes, broccoli, cauli and carrots. Unusually having dessert tonight as I came across some gluten free brownies in the freezer that I had forgotten about, with ice cream.
