Dunno about anybody else, but food is my comfort zone, my happy place. So bugger off doom and gloom, tonight we have homemade beef curry and basmati rice, and a Yealands 2021 Reserve Sauvignon Blanc. The Sav' Blanc is for me.

Lots of snacks bits, gammon, olives, salami, baby tomatoes, pickles etc with crisp breads.
Mango and blueberries to follow.

LoveFall · 26/02/2022 22:51

Home made chicken noodle soup and a freshly baked no knead whole wheat bread.

I feel a bit like a broken record as I have posted that meal before on one of these threads. We use up a supermarket rotisserie chicken for the stock. I use the Instant Pot. Makes a flavoursome stock.

I am thinking so much about the Ukraine I think some traditional foods are in my future. Won't help anyone but I hope will send good karma, or good anything really.

Growing up in Canada I had many friends and classmates whose parents or grandparents came from the Ukraine.

Lots of cabbage rolls, perogies, Ukrainian sausage, borscht.

My Mum used to make some pretty good cabbage rolls despite no Ukrainian heritage. I am going to try those.

Pizza, salad and garlic bread. Fruit and ice cream for pudding.

I'd love to have a thread where the overwhelming subject of the Russian invasion is put to one side for a moment.

Phormiumjester · 27/02/2022 08:25

Tonight is chicken fried rice with griddles broccoli. For three of us, anyway. The 4th will have rice and a chicken breast with peas!

Vampirethriller · 27/02/2022 08:47

I'm making corned beef and potato pie today, with swede, cabbage and peas. I might make a lemon sponge.

Roominmyhouse · 27/02/2022 08:56

Potato topped chicken pie tonight, it’s a Gousto recipe. The chicken has leeks and carrots with it in a cheesy mustard sauce. Serving with peas and green beans.

Lasagne.

Tonight is homemade burgers done on the barbie, and DH's home-cooked chips. So lovely to see the sun!

Stir fry made with rump steak marinaded in teriyaki sauce and sesame oil, mixed stir fry veg from a pack boosted up with fresh pak choi, ginger, spring onion and sesame seeds, and plain basmati rice.

We were meant to be having roast pork, parsnips, potatoes etc; but something we went to this afternoon went on much longer than we'd expected, so it was pizza from the freezer instead.

BuddhaForMary · 27/02/2022 21:17

We had slow roast pork that I left in the oven while I took DC to the woods with the dogs. I did a big pile of root veg mash with it and used the pork juices to make a bloody lovely gravy. Also had apple purée in the freezer from when my neighbour shared her glut of apples with me last year. Defrosted that and it was just perfect with the pork. I made some hot chocolate puds for dessert and there's a couple left in the fridge. I might stick one in the oven now actually, have it with a cuppa before bed. It's been a really busy but productive week and I'm loving how relaxed I feel tonight.

MrsPnut · 27/02/2022 21:18

Hello missus @Bloodybridget Hope all is good with you?

Today’s lunch was pie, mash and vegetables. Mostly bought from M&S and the most work was peeling some carrots.
Sandwiches for supper as always on a Sunday.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 28/02/2022 13:33

Yesterday was roast chicken with all the bits.
Today is leftovers from yesterday for DH but I’ll probably make a salad.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 28/02/2022 13:40

Fish pie or fish stew depending upon various people's timings and arrivals because I don't know what impact the Tube Line closures will have (it's 24 hrs and tomorrow but run downs will start this evening, IYSWIM).

I'd considered being flexible with cheese, crackers, salad etc. or even Welsh Rarebit but it's cold, the general environment is miserable, and it's the last day of Feb. so I've opted for a hot meal.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 28/02/2022 13:43

Macaroni cheese with roasted cherry tomatoes, green veg (to be confirmed, probably broccoli though) and some meatballs on the side for DS.

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 28/02/2022 13:49

Tuna pasta bake here, slimming world recipe. Haven't got any salad to go with it though 🤔

maddiemookins16mum · 28/02/2022 14:42

Yesterday was a roast pork Sunday lunch. Tonight I’m making a pie with the lefovers (meat, potatoes, veg, stuffing and gravy). I’ll do some additional fresh veg to go with it.

gingercat02 · 28/02/2022 15:33

I think pasta carbonara but still at work so who knows. Monday DS has football training and scouts so we have things we love and he won't eat (hates eggs and bacon weirdo)

Pinchofnom · 28/02/2022 15:37

We’re making homemade pizzas here tonight - a firm fave of the Children’s. DP and I will have an olive and chilli infused base and topics will be a homemade green pesto and burrata and vine roasted tomatoes. DC will probably go for a tomato base with ham, mushrooms and sweetcorn.

We’ll also do a salad as a side.

Startuplife · 28/02/2022 15:41

I’m having a Jamie Oliver prawn, garlic and tomato spaghetti. Fussy fish hating DP will have a portion of the Pinch of Nom keema pie I made at lunchtime for our lunches this week.

52andblue · 28/02/2022 18:05

Spaghetti with tomato olive & sausage (from farm shop) sauce, pamesan, herb flatbread & salad. I shall be having salad as I ate a (small) Xmas pudding at lunchtime. Diet starts tomorrow...

mbosnz · 28/02/2022 18:25

Youngest had a good day of PPE's, and we have given in to the timeworn phrase 'we should celebrate' - usually 15 minutes after good news, meaning Takeout. . .
