When would you tell them to stop?

It's just fresh apple, cut into pieces. They are a big fruit lover.

OP, let me introduce you to 'place', take a moment and note that you've been firmly put in yours.

What an idiotic post, albeit entertaining.

Dumbass.

MiniCooperLover · 22/02/2022 20:58

Come back tomorrow and tell us quite so confidently that 8 apples in a small space of time has had no toilet consequences ...

TimePoliceTeam236 · 22/02/2022 21:02

Better than 8 snacks of crisps, sweets and a shit tea op.

It's not either/or, they are both shit.

Nah. One is definitely worse than the other. Bit dense not to see that.
TimePoliceTeam236 · 22/02/2022 21:04

Good to hear some others have fruit bats too!

DIFFERENT fruits OP, not 8 of the same one 🤦‍♀️

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 22/02/2022 21:04

@Bakewelltart987

You say they have healthy foods plenty of fruit, veg. U do realise eating 8 apples is not healthy might as well go and get them a McDonald's or KFC. If very hungry give them more protein with their meals to fill up.
Don't be ridiculous.
ParalysisByAnalysis · 22/02/2022 21:07

I do this with peaches Blush

rc22 · 22/02/2022 21:09

When I was 8 years old, I ate around 7 satsumas in one day. I can remember the unpleasant toilet consequences now and I have never repeated that behaviour.

It's fine as an adult not so much a three year old.

Nah. One is definitely worse than the other. Bit dense not to see that.

So what's the difference in excess sugar vs excess sugar+ fat+ salt ?
I think it's no different. I think it's really dense if you can't see that. Being veggie needs a lot of planning and care not to miss out in important nutrients. Eating like rabbit apart from occasional pasta and sauce sounds like horrible diet for very young children to me.

Ok then. Yes. The sugar in 8 bags of haribo is on par with the sugar in 8 apples.

Don't be absolutely ridiculous.

Where did I say my child ate like that?

rainrainraincamedowndowndown · 22/02/2022 21:31

Where did I say my child ate like that?

I didn't say your dc ate 8 apples or 8 packs of crisps. You said it's dense if you can't see the difference in it. I think it's dense not to see both are equally silly.
I never said your dc ate like that. But I also think being proud of young children eating like rabbit is silly, that's all.

One of my children would choose a punnet of tomatoes, peppers and cucumber over crisps and biscuits and that isn't something to be pleased with? Really? My other doesn't eat like that so I have to say no to him. He always wants more crap snacks. But I don't put a limit on fruit and veg.
rainrainraincamedowndowndown · 22/02/2022 21:42

So you would let your dc eat unlimited amount of fruit and veg, like OP does? Eating 8 apples is silly. Tomato and cucumber are mostly water, it may not affect appetite much. But apple does. Why would you encourage OP when she clearly cannot see the fault in it? It's irresponsible, or if you can't truly see the problem, you are the dense one, not the other poster you called dense.

I don't limit it if they've eaten their breakfast, dinner, tea. They can have fruit and veg snacks between. They are allowed 2 biscuits and 1 pack of crisps IF we have them in.

I said, 8 apples was better than 8 shit snacks. I aren't wrong. I said it was dense to say that is was because it is!

This is my policy too, unlimited fruit and veg. Other things are limited. The 5 a day campaign is a minimum, not a maximum, there is good evidence that consumption over 5 a day has health benefits.

For some here that's akin to chaining them to a tree and feeding them KFC (which my children have never eaten..)

OP posts:
Casheeeew · 22/02/2022 22:44

OP you need to take some responsibility. A 3 year old is not going to make good choices. Tbh you sound quite ignorant about fruit and dental damage.

SpamIAm · 22/02/2022 22:48

I'd be quite pleased they'd actually eaten 8 whole apples rather than just taking one bite each out of 8 apples, which is what my DD would have done at that age.

Bel1991 · 22/02/2022 22:55

Could totally be a sensory thing too, not just about hunger. Do you find your child tends to bite toys etc? Not sure but I'm wondering if there's a link here.
Also, if he's craving sugary foods like apples it could possibly be a glucose thing...

But more likely, he's probably just hungry Grin

So this thread was a stealth boast? I thought you were originally asking for opinions on whether it was ok, to which the majority answered that it was definitely not.
Obviously we all know that AT LEAST 5 a day is best (mostly vegetables though!) But you are still not getting it, it should be a variety of veg/fruit. It is most definitely NOT healthy for a three year old to eat eight apples in one day. It’s madness Grin

shivawn · 22/02/2022 23:04

Theres far worse things he could be eating. 8 does seem like a lot, I don't think I could eat that many but I wouldn't be unduly worried if he just loves apples!

We'll, letting your child eat 8 portions of anything in one day is a bit of a weird flex
WorraLiberty · 23/02/2022 00:00

I love how anyone who doesn't agree with the OP is either 'offended' or 'far too invested'.

That and the OP saying the thread was apparently supposed to be 'lighthearted' has made me chuckle Grin

oakleaffy · 23/02/2022 00:01

The child and OP obviously live in Étaples.

''Eight Apples''.

Liveandkicking · 23/02/2022 00:11

I wouldn’t. They are apples not crack. Balance doesn’t have to be over one day. Maybe they feast on apples today and tomorrow don’t have any and eat lots of yoghurt. Then the next day eat lots of carrots.

Regardless. Mumsnet is the only place where parents get shamed for their children eating fruit.
