If you had three spare bedrooms in your house...

What would you use them for?

It looks like we may be in this situation someday soon due to a change of circumstances. What would you use these rooms for in an ideal world?

To add, we don't want/need to move

I use one as a study, one as a bit of a dumping ground with ironing board, laundry baskets, cupboard with crafts etc. There's a bed sofa in there. And one as a proper spare bedroom

Totalwasteofpaper · 19/02/2022 16:30

In our house....
One is a laundry and gift/wrapping room
One is an office
One is guest room which doubles as a yoga room
One is a nursery/ playroom

TheSpottedZebra · 19/02/2022 16:30

I'd maybe convert one into a dressing room. The joy of having all my clothes easily accessible and viewable would make a daily difference to my life.

One would probably be a home office, but that's only relevant for some people.

duvetdayforeveryone · 19/02/2022 16:30
  • Walk in wardrobe/dressing room.
  • Cinema room- projector, black out blinds, massive soft leather armchairs.
  • Library.

We have two spare bedrooms, and three at the moment because DD is away at university. I use one as an office because I WFH most of the time.

We don't live near family, and have friends who aren't local, so we will always keep one bedroom as a spare to put guests up.

IglesiasPiggl · 19/02/2022 16:30

I would use one as an office, one as a kids' room (playroom if little, teen space if older)and one as ironing /drying room if you don't have a utility room.

TillyTopper · 19/02/2022 16:30

Guest room, office, crafting/sewing room, airbnb guest rooms, snug with TV, snuggle sofa for reading - lots of possibilities.

Totalwasteofpaper · 19/02/2022 16:30

Oh...
Laundry room doubles as guest room.
And office has sofa bed...

euniceanddudley · 19/02/2022 16:32

One an office, one a guest bedroom, the other one where I put my exercise equipment and leave it out instead of having to manoeuvre the bike past the x trainer in my office.

CMOTDibbler · 19/02/2022 16:33

In our house one is an office, one is a drying/ironing room and has my sewing machine set up, and the third is a permanently tidy guest room.

violetbunny · 19/02/2022 16:33

We are fortunate enough to be in this position, as we are 2 people in a 4 bed house (3 double, 1 single).

  • Single room is DP's office
  • One double is currently my "walk in wardrobe" - contains all my clothes and beauty products. I also use it to exercise in, and since COVID hit my dressing table in there has doubled as my desk to work from home.
  • The last double did have a queen bed in it for guests until recently, but due to Covid hardly anyone has come to stay so it seemed like a waste of a room, especially as I now WFH a lot more. So we are now just in the process of turning it into a second lounge/office, with a desk, sofa and TV.
glowingpink · 19/02/2022 16:33

We kind of have this at the moment, I feel incredibly fortunate. The smallest is an office, the medium one is an office/library and the largest is a spare room for visitors.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 19/02/2022 16:34

One guest bedroom. One as a walk in wardrobe/dressing room. One as a reading room with comfortable chairs.

isittheholidaysyet · 19/02/2022 16:34

One as a guest bedroom. Which I can also use as spare space for piling stuff up when packing for trips or hiding Christmas presents.

One as a gaming room/teens lounge.

The other as a home education school room.

If the kids had left home, one would be my study/a library.
One would be a guest bedroom.
The other would be a gym

Movinghouseatlast · 19/02/2022 16:34

One I knocked through to the ensuite bathroom to make a big dressing room/bathroom.
One is a spare room, neat and tidy
One is a laundry room,we call it the midden. It's a disgrace!!!

CatherinedeBourgh · 19/02/2022 16:35

We just kept them as three spare bedrooms. We already had everything else.

newbiename · 19/02/2022 16:36

Dressing room , study / library , guest room.

Ionsion · 19/02/2022 16:36

I’ve got 2 spare rooms. I use one as an office / art room and the other is a second living room which has a sofa bed in which my in-laws use when they come to visit (they live abroad). If I had another spare room I might have used it as a dressing room and maybe had an exercise bike with TV

SisterAgatha · 19/02/2022 16:37

Craft room
Laundry room
Guest room

Sexnotgender · 19/02/2022 16:38

Ones a guest room. One is a music room. One is a snug/reading room/laundry room 😂

WouldIwasShookspeared · 19/02/2022 16:38

Guest room, craft room and reading room.

BertieBotts · 19/02/2022 16:40

Play room, office, guest room.

If kids older gaming room instead of play room.

DramaAlpaca · 19/02/2022 16:41

We have three spare at the moment thanks to growu up DC leaving home. One is a guest room, one's an office and the smallest one is a craft room.

LaQuern · 19/02/2022 16:49

One room filled with a massive comfy sofa, all my books, lots of blankets, plants and a radio tuned to radio 4.

Another room as a dressing room complete with dressing table and a mirror with the lights around it
