Threads you remember with fondness for being utterly batshit

amiafreakofnature · 18/02/2022 22:41

The one that always gets me is the one where a woman gets angry with some builders and yelled 'Willy Willy Willy' at them
Also didn't see this delight at the time but have since learnt about it was the Sistine screamer- I could die laughing thinking about that one
What are your best threads for comedy value?

OP posts:

fluffysmum · 19/02/2022 16:40

The OXO tower

gettingolderbutcooler · 19/02/2022 16:41

@coodawoodashooda

The one where the hairdresser had to eat a steak with the husband.
Wasn't it that the husband invited the massage therapist to eat?!
My “favourite batshit query leads to gold” thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/3124765-long-name-for-hugo
This makes me cry with laughter every time I read it 🤣

Mol1628 · 19/02/2022 16:52

There was one recently where someone had made owl noises at their friend and then wondered why this friend was no longer on good terms with them. Can’t remember the full story but it was hilarious.

Tigersonvaseline · 19/02/2022 16:52

I remember that hully gully one I'm sure she did a few funny ones under that name hilarious!!

Imagine, going to see lion king then streaming the wedding at the holiday Inn 😂😂

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 19/02/2022 16:52

Was the parent of the child with that hideous Easter bonnet a child counsellor, banking on coining it in with a flurry of new referrals from the school?!

I'm firmly middle-aged and it terrifies me Grin

amusedbush · 19/02/2022 16:52

@user26147

I just never got why anyone found this funny, but it always comes up on these threads. I still don't get it

Everyone thought it was a typo, that the OP meant to say she snapped and shouted at her boyfriend. When asked for clarification, she nonchalantly said "I have IBS", as if it's totally normal to fart in a fit of bad temper. I read it in real time and it was funny!

YouMuckyDuck · 19/02/2022 16:59

@Sueelleker, yep, that's the one 🤣

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 19/02/2022 17:02

The glorious Hugo thread was latterly plagued by the Zombie Police berating people for adding to it.

As with the misapplication of the word 'troll' to somebody who starts a harmless, hilarious made-up thread for everybody to enjoy, I also think that 'zombie' should only truly be used to refer to threads, which cover one very specific scenario and where no further contributions are relevant - or could actually prove distressing to the OP, when circumstances have changed dramatically, such as the very sad 'where to go in Anglesey' one.

When it's just a discussion about a particular baby name - that has existed for hundreds of years or more and ben given to countless babies - I don't see why on earth it matters if somebody finds and comes back to an old thread.

The 'received wisdom' is that you should start a brand new thread, but with something as timeless as a baby name, what's the point in people potentially missing all of the (still very relevant) previous opinions on the name?

Tigersonvaseline · 19/02/2022 17:13

Sometimes these hilarious thread's really are not made up.

I have one I wanted to start but I dare not because I post for anonymity and can't Risk the demenentors dragging up any of the 1000 post's I've started.
Shame it was a good conumdrum.

Lalliella · 19/02/2022 17:16
@Lalliella i had no idea that was a joke, there were so many similar at the time and tbf you sounded convincing 😆
@liveforsummer it made it to MumsnetMadness on twitter too, not sure if I should be proud of that of not 😂

Lalliella · 19/02/2022 17:16

*or not

KatherineJaneway · 19/02/2022 17:48

Me either, it isn't funny.

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 19/02/2022 17:59

Obviously owl noises.

Does anyone remember the thread where the wine filled OP went on a massive rant about Dolphins being rapey little bastards?

That one was surreal!

ImaginaryFriends · 19/02/2022 18:07

@Gardeningcreature

The one where the poster was stuck on the kitchen worktop and had to ring her husband at work to get her down. She had been trying to reach the paracetamol. It was mind boggling.
And was really put out as he wouldn't come home to lift her down Grin
LadyMonicaBaddingham · 19/02/2022 18:12

The one when a poster had gotten into trouble as a child for eating all the buttons from the TV remote. I was nearly sick from laughing so much!

contactornotthatisthequestion · 19/02/2022 18:46

squirrelgates one i remember along with paul the pidge, it was the line you cant jet wash a squirrel that did me in

ShinyPikachu · 19/02/2022 18:58

Parking ones are my favourites.

There was one where the OP at one point had a little Christmas tree I think or Christmas decorations around a sign?

Another where there was a Guard Olaf (the snowman) and a bunch of wheely bins at one point.

And the one where the CF parker was told not to park on a private drive, he did so anyway so the OP locked her gate, locking his car in and he and the DC had to cycle home. I think it was days later they got the car and the CF's DW ended up being the one picking it up and he'd lied to his wife about what had actually happened.

MissConductUS · 19/02/2022 19:15

Mexican house thief was one of the first threads I read on MN and I've been hooked ever since.

Squiff70 · 19/02/2022 19:29

I've just read about 6 pages of the Yoni thread and was laughing so much I stopped breathing several times - especially as the ABBA 'Yoni Yoni Yoni' song. I'm going to ache tomorrow.

Joystir59 · 19/02/2022 19:33

Here is a link to the Sistine Chapel thread

Joystir59 · 19/02/2022 19:36

@LunaTheCat

I keep trying to find the Sistine Chapel one but can’t find - if somebody can find a link would be appreciated.

I just realised what I wrote there - obviously, prove distressing to the OP or their loved ones

MinglingFlamingo · 19/02/2022 19:43

Penis beaker & Brian the Nonnie Masseuse from Hull.

They were both just after I joined mumsnet and have always stuck in my head as a result
