I think I’m happy with this (not that’s it’s any of my business). She’s clearly made Charles very happy and has fitted into the family well.
Good for her, it’s deserved.

OP posts:
MyDcAreMarvel · 05/02/2022 22:21

lovely news she was complicit in adultery.

peepholepringle · 05/02/2022 22:21

@Viviennemary

Its a disgrace. We were told she would not be Queen. More backpeddling. Sick of the lot of them.
A disgrace? Really? 🤣
BlubFestival · 05/02/2022 22:22

Good for her, it’s deserved Deserved?! In what way "deserved".

Saz12 · 05/02/2022 22:22

Just me sniggering are “queen of England” in Periah comment? I assume it’s meant to be amusing rather than profound xenophobic ignorance, right?

Sunnyday321 · 05/02/2022 22:23

Queen consort in the same way Duke of Edinburgh was consort to the queen.

Figgygal · 05/02/2022 22:23

Fair enough if thats what the queen wants after a lifetime of service
Dont see what difference her official title will have anyway - she will still be wife of the king

CoffeeRunner · 05/02/2022 22:26

A lot of the acceptance needed for Charles to be a successful King is the acceptance of Camilla as consort.

I can totally & utterly see why the Queen wants this.

The alternative is monarchy over. A life wasted.

MindyStClaire · 05/02/2022 22:26

Just right. Of course, the whole thing is batshit, but if the wife of a King is a Queen, then she should be.

Can we start calling her Princess of Wales now? Grin

FlorrieLindley · 05/02/2022 22:28

@Pyriah

Disgusting. I would vote for a republic long before I accept Camilla as Queen of England.
"Queen of England?" Really? Not Queen of the UK? Just one country within the UK?
Cheesecake53 · 05/02/2022 22:28

@Pyriah

Disgusting. I would vote for a republic long before I accept Camilla as Queen of England.
I second that.
Tealightsandd · 05/02/2022 22:29

Not just UK. Some Commonwealth countries too.

jerometheturnipking · 05/02/2022 22:30

Lol as though the royals care about whether anyone “accepts” anything or not.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 05/02/2022 22:30

@Pyriah

Disgusting. I would vote for a republic long before I accept Camilla as Queen of England.
Why?
Twokidsanddone · 05/02/2022 22:31

I got that, and a breaking news notification at the same time stating the Queen was set to step down and coronation plans for Charles were underway. But it disappeared and can't find anything online now. Been driving myself daft wondering if I imagined it

FlorrieLindley · 05/02/2022 22:32

Diana has been dead for a quarter of a century now.

Charles and Camilla have been married for nearly 16 years.

Anyone on here who married a divorced man would be outraged if they were vilified for taking their husband's name, i.e. how dare they style themselves "Mrs Brown" because Mr Brown had already been married!

I am no monarchist, but I firmly believe that Camilla is entitled to be styled Princess of Wales, and in due time, to be Queen. Just as the present Queen's mother was styled 'Queen".

The Diana apologists need to get over it.

AmyFl · 05/02/2022 22:33

Disgraceful. Hopefully this will be the end of the monarchy.

Sunnyday321 · 05/02/2022 22:33

They have been married for 17 years .

jerometheturnipking · 05/02/2022 22:35

Yes, over Diana and also acknowledge the historical fact that the wife of the King is the Queen Consort. Prince Philip was Prince Consort because he was married to the Queen - Queens (the hereditary monarchs) aren’t married to King Consort because Queens are deferential to Kings.

SomeFuckingWizardry · 05/02/2022 22:36

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60274193 - possibly a distraction from this, Andrew to give deposition evidence in March, which was published an hour ago?

Sparklingbrook · 05/02/2022 22:37

I've no problem with that. They've been married since 2005, I would expect it. And good for the Queen to announce it, the day before it was 70 years since her father died and she became Queen.

Nancydrawn · 05/02/2022 22:37

Good. She'll be the King's wife, which is to say the Queen Consort.

StrychnineIntheSandwiches · 05/02/2022 22:37

'well deserved'

none of this royal nonsense is in any way deserved.

ByMyName · 05/02/2022 22:38

Not sure why people are surprised. The wife of the reigning King is the Queen Consort.

Tealightsandd · 05/02/2022 22:38

@AmyFl

Disgraceful. Hopefully this will be the end of the monarchy.
Things don't always work out too well wrt Presidents in other countries...

It's also more expensive. Taxpayers in republics often pay more for their state figurehead than we do for ours.

UserBot9to5 · 05/02/2022 22:38

I was an impressionable young wan who loved Diana, but it's been 30 bloody years and nobody deserves to be raked over the coals for an affair they had 30 years ago. I am not even a member of the public (as I'm Irish) but I forgive her! She'll be relieved to know Grin

Nobody hold the stuff i did 30 years ago against me. If you're going to wander about tutting saying she was complicit with adultery, then you can hold a grudge like a master. Well done.
