I'd forgotten all about Julia Roberts and Kiefer Sutherland until I read this piece about it. And then wondered how I could've forgotten as it was huge! And those were the days before social media!

I never realised that Michelle Pfeiffer played a conciliatory role or that the wedding cake apparently spoke to a tabloid reporter!

What are some scandals you remember from that period? (I'm housebound with Covid - humour me!)

Hugh Grant and the prostitute, and poor Daniella Westbrook’s nose falling in.

How did Hugh manage to come back from that to almost national treasure status? I remember him and Liz Hurley appearing at a premiere shortly afterwards and she looked so tense and hurt.

Winona Ryder and Johnny Depp - Johnny changing his 'Winona Forever' tattoo to 'Wino Forever' when they parted ways.

This isn't really a scandal but I had tickets to a take that tour, and the papers had pics of the costumes they had for Relight My Fire and one of them had chaps with his bum cheeks out. My mum was absolutely appalled that that was what we were going to see!! 🤣

It was Tesco in Didsbury and not just a bottle iirc. Stuart Hall got stopped for taking a whole trolley of shopping out of Sainsbury's in Wilmslow around the same time.

Not really a scandal but didn't Andre Agassi date Barbra Streisand at some point in the 90s? And then married Brooke Shields, though I can't remember if he dropped Barbra for her.

I immediately thought of Hugh Grant and Divine Brown too - I remember the photos of Liz Hurley having their bed removed from the house.

This wasn't the 90s (2004 I think) but the David Beckham and Rebecca Loos scandal - that interview in The News of The World 😱😱😱

And a packet of sausages. I used to work in WHS and he used to come in and be all "don't you know who I am" and behind his back we'd all pretend to be the dog from That's Life that apparently said "sausages".
