Yup it'll just be to give the public clarity that the report we'll never see in full shows this government acted within the laws and guidance at all times, nothing to see here. Then he'll launch a full investigation into that night Keir Starmer had a beer in front of a window.

Hopefully this means Clavinova and JaniieJones have the night off.

StrangeAddiction · 31/01/2022 13:23

@Malariahilaria

He won't resign. He'll never resign. I despise him and I don't want him to resign. I want him to stay in charge and continue to screw up until the tory party is unelectable. Too many voters just think 'oh stop going on, it was just a bit of wine and cheese', I suspect he's still got bigger fuck ups to come.

Aren't they already in Kyiv, fluffing up the red carpet?
sadpapercourtesan · 31/01/2022 13:24

clav and janii, I meant (quoted the wrong post)

I do agree to an extent, but the problem is the harm that him staying "in charge" does to the public in the meantime.

@SickAndTiredAgain

It’s just some nonsense on Sue Gray’s update, which apparently isn’t the full report and only looks at the culture in Downing Street and not the parties.
Yes. He'll be kicking the can down the road, assisted by a massively redacted report and the MET (worth keeping Dick in now, huh Boris)?
skodadoda · 31/01/2022 13:31

@Wreath21

Maybe they've found another variant so he wants people to 'think about' everything they do and whether it's essential or not. Again. IE he wants people to be distracted from whatever fuckery his government are up to now, and the most effective way is to frighten them about Covid without giving either clear directions or any financial support, so they can all turn on each other. Again.
Absolutely!
ADisgruntledPelican · 31/01/2022 13:31

I can't believe people are saying we should keep Boris because the others are worse.
Boris is a self-serving, lying, unprincipled, grifter. And the point of getting rid of him is that it send a teeny tiny message to the next lying, self-serving, unprincipled grifter that they can't expect to stay in position forever - and it's worth it to send that message.
Because the alternative is saying you can lie to the public; you can oversee massive contracts being given to 'friends'; you can leave people in Afghanistan; you can oversee the worst fatality rate during a pandemic; you can attempt to decimate and privatise the NHS - and the public will do nothing. Who the hell wants to send that message?!

52andblue · 31/01/2022 13:31

I meant Cressida Dick, she of the woeful record.

But actually Johnsons whole life plan has been about 'keeping (his) Dick in' in one way or another.

MaryAndHerNet · 31/01/2022 13:33

2 years since BREXIT and he thinks it's something to celebrate.

RedToothBrush · 31/01/2022 13:35

I've said from the off that the thing to understand with Johnson is he will do the thing that suits him best. Sometimes that aligns with the public interest - other times it doesn't. Once you understand that he simply is self serving everything else makes sense.

Johnson will flip flop according to what makes him popular and gets him what he wants. And tbh, given how I've always viewed him though this lens, I am fairly indifferent to party gate. The public got the PM they voted for and were warned time and again that this was his MO.

If he wanted a party he was always going to have one.

Same with all the other stuff he's done. Of course its not right, but it wasn't a big secret that he was like this - people chose to ignore it. And its those people who are now suddenly waking up to that reality.

Do I think Johnson will resign? If it suits him. Otherwise you'll have to carry him out of the door.

NETSRIK · 31/01/2022 13:36

To say he can't possibly comment on the Sue Gray report until the Met have concluded their investigations...and so this goes on...

lljkk · 31/01/2022 13:36

I wonder what BJ wants to do after being PM. I mean, no one is PM forever. Be an annoying pundit from sidelines? Try to become PM again? Thatcher was old by time she was forced out, didn't hang around that long. BJ could haunt us for decades.

BJ is a shameless liar -- it's so easy to deceive when you have no capacity for embarrassment or guilt. He'll probably go when he's pushed out by own party.... or if he actually gets a better offer? What would the guy who wanted to be King Of The World see as a better offer?

BlowDryRat · 31/01/2022 13:40

Hopefully to say he's visited Her Maj and quit.

Also:

  • mandatory vaccinations for healthcare workers
  • Sue Gray report
Guacamole001 · 31/01/2022 13:40

I do not wish to look at his mop head mutt so I wont be listening to any of his tripe today.

nationwde · 31/01/2022 13:40

the radio and TV are going to have to start giving trigger warnings before this man speaks due to the level of gaslighting of the general population and associated listener/viewer distress.

I think this was tried several years ago. The media were called biased for pointed out the lies. Now they have to 'give two sides' rather than check if its raining outside when someone says it is.
NettleTea · 31/01/2022 13:43

this whole report is going to be a shambles

he will report on a heavily redacted report, which will have removed everything incriminating, and will kick any responsibility of wrongdoing down the road, until the police finish their enquiry

Their enquiry will no doubt find that everything was fine and dandy. Or if anything, a couple of juniors will get a wrap on the knuckles, and there will be some fines that most will claim on their expenses

The relevent bits of the report will disappear into the ether, never to rise again

Johnson will carry on with impunity as before, lying and gaslighting and blabbering on taking the credit for the NHS organsied vaccination programme, and maybe have a nice little war to raise his patriotic self image as Chrchill Mk 2, and boost the economy, as we all know how much his chums make from the arms trade.

Absolutely this.
SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/01/2022 13:44

@ClawedButler

Thing is, once that self-serving arse buggers off, another of those hideous bastards will just step into the gap. Same utter contempt for the public, just a different mask.
Sadly, this is exactly what will happen - despite Mogg trying to frighten them by saying it would need a GE.
BringBackCoffeeCreams · 31/01/2022 13:45

He wants to make a statement on the report as soon as so nobody has had a chance to digest it. That way he can control the narrative. By the time people's heads stop spinning Parliament has moved on to other things. Let's hope his cunning plan doesn't work.

ClaudineClare · 31/01/2022 13:46

There is no way he is resigning. He doesn't think he has done a thing wrong.

CakeMonster001 · 31/01/2022 13:46

Better resign and take his wife with him.
Had enough of his lies, meanwhile everyone else is completely fucked as nothing can be done whilst this party gate is going on.

Very true.
Lolamento · 31/01/2022 13:49

Why is your complaint? At least he is showing face and keeping people updated. The stupid Trudeau in Canada has gone into hiding.
