Anyone tried the McDonald's McPlant?

Legodout · 11/01/2022 16:14

Interested in anyone's views before I try at the weekend! I am a big fan of fake-meat burgers (the only category of fake meat I think is indistinguishable from/superior to the original) and usually have Linda McCartney's or Co-Ops own brand, so looking forward to trying this!

On a side note, anyone have a good fake-meat sausage recommendations? None I've tried have hit the mark.

Thanks!

Yep my local McDonald's has been doing it since October so I've had it a few times, it's delicious! A bit expensive considering it is only one patty but I guess to be expected. I really hope they eventually make it so you can swap the veggie patty into any burger in future.

For veggie sausages have you tried Richmond? They are the best by miles imo.

MouseyMoose · 11/01/2022 16:17

The burger is just like a beyond meat burger so if you have had one before and know you like it then you won't be disappointed Smile

DobbyTheHouseElk · 11/01/2022 16:18

Richmond sausages.

I wouldn't try it as I have never liked beef

For sausages - I really like the richmond ones or the new Heck ones Smile

MagicMatilda · 11/01/2022 16:20

It is stunning! Literally wanted to go back and get another instantly! Enjoy

MustardLoseIt · 11/01/2022 16:20

Yes it's really good. I am a veggie and usually avoid meat substitutes as I'm not a fan. I wasn't expecting to like it at all but it's was very nice.

MobyDicksTinyCanoe · 11/01/2022 16:21

Yes. Its very nice, the veggie whopper is good too.

There's also a fake kebab meat, the name escapes me but it's divine.

Whydoyoucareaboutthis · 11/01/2022 16:21

Agree about the Richmond, they are gross, taste like real sausages.

Love the Burger King plant based menu, especially as you can get all the normal items but plant based.
Haven't tried the McDonald's one but wonder why they put lettuce and tomato in it when they don't in their normal burgers?

Grin can a veggie burger be described as “stunning”?!

The McPlant was delicious but I agree I want it to have all the normal burger options. I want a McPlant Big Mac! A McPlant BBQ one!

For sausages, I like Linda MacCartney, Richmond, Heck, Sainsbury's own

Is it the Vivera kebab meat? A friend raved about it a while back but I haven't got round to trying it yet!

Am I missing something? Did someone ask for a list of ingredients?

Not that I recall Hmm
Youngatheart00 · 11/01/2022 16:27

God that’s a lot of ingredients!! I do wonder how/why these processed vegan alternatives are being badged as healthy/virtuous when in many cases they are MORE over processed than the alternative

I think that's in case anyone wants to make their own.
IcedCoffeeMilkshake · 11/01/2022 16:28

My DH had it on Monday, he said it was 'truly excellent'. He is not a big fan of the mock meats at all, and has been vegetarian for about 5 years so says he is not 100% sure how meat is supposed to taste anymore. But he rated it very highly. He was never much of a McDonalds person either. I sometimes get the various veg sausages and so forth but he is not a big fan.

I think most people understand that a McDonald's burger is not going to healthy... nice as a treat though. I do eat meat but like to try the veggie options instead sometimes.
BIWI · 11/01/2022 16:28

@ineedsun

Am I missing something? Did someone ask for a list of ingredients?
Nobody asked, but I obliged anyway.

Why anyone would want to eat such horribly ultra-processed food is beyond me.

ShirleyPhallus · 11/01/2022 16:28

Oh come on, it isn’t a massive list of ingredients when about a third of it is taken up by repetition (ie tomato slice: 100% tomatoes) and all the bulking of allergen information

ThePlantsitter · 11/01/2022 16:29

That's the ingredients for everything including the bun, lettuce and onions. So i'm not sure what it was supposed to prove.

ineedsun · 11/01/2022 16:30

I think when no one asks and you do it anyway because you want to make a point, that’s not obliging.

If you don’t want to eat it, don’t eat it.

HoldingTheDoor · 11/01/2022 16:30

Nobody asked, but I obliged anyway.

Thanks. Your generosity knows no beginning.

I haven't tried it yet but I'm looking forward to doing so, sans the tomato though.
