What’s DH coming home with?

Troublesometooth · 09/01/2022 14:15

Sent DH to Aldi with a list of about £40 worth of food.

It’s just pinged on my banking app that he has spent £84! He will be home in ten minutes…

Any guesses what he is coming home with?

I’m going for some sort of middle aisle electric saw that will sit in the shed for the next 10 years unused!

Wet suit?

BrightYellowDaffodil · 09/01/2022 18:51

@TheNestedIf

Is it only me who initially misread "laminator" as "terminator"? I mean, it's possible in that aisle, right?
Anything is possible in the Aisle of Wonder. It’s like the song from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: “Come with me and you'll be/ In a world of pure imagination…”

canoes away from disappointing thread,

JoJo36 · 09/01/2022 18:57

Disappointing haul op! 😉

Today I got 3 big round hand decorated iced Christmas cakes. They were selling them for 9p each so I ‘had’ to get three as I love them.

Also on offer for 9p were bags of blonde (white choc) coated honeycomb. So I got 6 (gave 5 away to friends).

Also seemed to ‘need’ 12 glass Christmas baubles for £1.99, two lots (to make wreaths with next year)..

So 24 baubles, 6 bags of chocolate honeycomb and 3 Christmas cakes for £4.79.

Pretty weird loot to be honest!

Bought from Aldi's middle aisle??

One day I’m going to write a book called “Why Men Can’t Shop”, or “Why Can’t Men Shop?”. It will be a bestseller (among women).

Dibbydoos · 09/01/2022 19:46

So what did he come home with OP?!!!!

Mumstheword1990 · 09/01/2022 20:03

Some of the suggested answers were absolute gold though...

Hope you enjoy all your pasta OP.

CheshireKitten123 · 09/01/2022 20:03

@Isseywith3witchycats

they have kitchen goods this week so he is bringing you an air fryer and soup maker
Not another freakin' air fryer ! That makes 5 !!
drinkingwineoutofamug · 09/01/2022 20:14

I need to go Aldi tomorrow, cakes for 9p! Excellent

Cakecakecheese · 09/01/2022 20:24

@iklboo someone suggested car polisher, someone else read it as cat polisher, which boggled several minds Grin

iklboo · 09/01/2022 20:35

Thanks @Cakecakecheese Grin. If we keep it between us on this thread we can pitch MN Cat Polisher (TM) to Dragon's Den in time for this year's Xmas market.

grannybiker · 09/01/2022 21:54

Do you remember when they started to reduce lockdown in summer 2020? I'd not been in a shop for months as CEV
However, I had an appointment in a nearby town with a new and large Aldi. WE needed bread, milk and cheese, so Mr GB parked up, leaving me in the car. Within a minute he was back, saying it was really quiet, so if I wanted to have a go, it'd be OK too if I went back to the car. Well I got in there, leaning on the trolley and was mesmerised be all the new goodies on offer. I was like a child at Christmas, putting all sorts of treats in the trolley, (No, I didn't make it through the checkouts as there were 4 people over the 2 open tills, LOL!) He came out with it all neatly packed and a receipt for over £80!

This thread is gold. "Canoes away from disappointing thread" had me wheezing.

In this house that aisle is known as The Aisle of Delight.

HardStareBear · 10/01/2022 16:36

I've just speed-read the entire thread. It was like a print version of the Generation Game. I kept expecting Larry Grayson and Isla St Clair to pop up, and everyone in the audience to cheer at the mention of "a cuddly toy"!

jamandmarmaladethesecondcoming · 10/01/2022 17:42

shut that door

jamandmarmaladethesecondcoming · 10/01/2022 17:44

i want a cat polisher

TroysMammy · 10/01/2022 18:08

Sorry to be Ms Practical but get him to take a photo of the list on his phone so if he loses the list he has a back up. Unless he loses his phone of course.

Kotatsu · 10/01/2022 18:09

my ex did the multiples thing. He left a year ago, and I only had to buy new washing powder 2 months ago, and I still have years left of soap/shampoo/shower gel.

I gave away the second sack of rice I found, and think I have to off load some porridge oats before they go off too.

I went to Aldi today and bought a lovely fluffy hoodie. Well worth the tenner it cost.

Threewheeler1 · 10/01/2022 18:19

I'm going to say Christopher Biggins on every thread until it proves to be the right answer Grin so I think he came home with Christopher Biggins

Cakeofdoom · 10/01/2022 18:24

Champagne, packets of edible gold leaf, fire logs and loo roll....that's what my OH came home with from Aldi yesterday ..

Cornishclio · 10/01/2022 18:31

My husband is useless at food shopping too and comes back with too much of the wrong stuff, loads of junk food and no meals. Clever really as after doing this a few times he is now banned from doing the weekly shop.

CheshireKitten123 · 10/01/2022 18:42

Surely he must be back by now ???
