If so what is your job please?

I absolutely hate my job, there must be people who enjoy going to work. If you are one of these lucky people then please tell me what you do and why you enjoy your work.

Love my job. I work in a SEN pastoral role within a secondary school.

Jessie75 · 03/01/2022 19:05

I can’t tell you what my job is because I’ll get absolutely lambasted for it, but suffice to say I absolutely love it I earn great money which isn’t everything but I get real satisfaction out of it and I’ve just re-joined the corporate world after six years out of it and I am so excited to start work next week.

IfIwasablackbird · 03/01/2022 19:07

I work in HR and I like it but if I won the lottery I wouldn’t be doing it…

MrzClaus · 03/01/2022 19:08

I work in finance / project control and absolutely love it!!

HugeAckmansWife · 03/01/2022 19:08

I'm a secondary teacher and I love it. All te schools I've worked in have as great management and heads of dept and I teach an option subject so y10 up I only teach kids who want to learn. I like the long holidays and I've been doing it long enough I don't have to reinvent the wheel with planning.

Iwannabeadog · 03/01/2022 19:09

I’m a physio and I bloody love it! Work 1/2 NHS and 1/2 private. Love them both equally and never get the work fear. I don’t earn much in the grand scheme of things but enough. And I’ve been qualified for 25 years and still enjoy it 😁

NothingIsWrong · 03/01/2022 19:09

Construction project manager in the public sector. Huge amount of job satisfaction, hard stressful work but when it all comes together it's amazing.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 03/01/2022 19:10

I'm a Teaching Assistant and I love it. Returned to the role after 6 years working as a Receptionist, enjoyed that too, but it didn't challenge me like education does.

SwimmingIntoMotherhood · 03/01/2022 19:10

I love my job, I'm a forensic psychologist - some prisons are worse than others but the job itself I love.

Took a while to get to where I am in terms of qualifications and it's been worthwhile imo

Hellocatshome · 03/01/2022 19:10

I work in finance, I love my job not for the job but because if the flexi time, the people and the money. If I could do anything at all I wanted I would run a children's zoo.

PointyMcguire · 03/01/2022 19:10

I work in public relations and adore my job, great team, great money and lots of variety in terms of the day to day stuff.

Ste23321 · 03/01/2022 19:11

Fantastic responses thank you for the motivation! I actually work as a secondary teacher and hate my job. I feel intense anxiety about going back. Looking for ideas on what I could do if I leave. Might have to re-train as something else!

Band 5 Staff Nurse. Love my job so much. Hospital-based, patient facing.
I'd do it for free!

Ifonlyidknownthen · 03/01/2022 19:11

Work in a private day nursery and don't enjoy the bitchiness that goes on there amongst the predominantly female staff, but enjoy my role with the children. It's hard to ignore some other stuff that goes on in there too. I'd not be doing the role if I had a lottery win.

DartmoorChef · 03/01/2022 19:12

I'm a personal chef and go to clients homes/holiday lets to cook for them. I love it.

Don't like working in hot manic restaurant kitchens though.

SuPerDoPer · 03/01/2022 19:13

I'm a probation officer. Still really enjoy it after nearly 20 years on the front line.

HugeAckmansWife · 03/01/2022 19:15

I'm really sorry to hear that op. What aspect of the job is the main issue? Would a different school be an option? The private sector?

Littlewhiteballs · 03/01/2022 19:16

Make and sell things online. I absolutely love it and would still do it if I won the lottery or reached retirement age. The downside is it's not great money! I'm making just over minimum wage atm.

NameChangeCity123 · 03/01/2022 19:16

Area manager for a Childrens charity and absolutely love it

MotherNaturesSon · 03/01/2022 19:16

I'm really happy in mine. After 14 years in the NHS and the pressures, Fear of assaults, 13 hour shifts etc I've got a new job that's safe, no pressure and much more manageable hours despite many saying it's a downgrade from being a CSW

Oatsamazing · 03/01/2022 19:17

I really enjoy my job. I work as a gardener at a historic property open to the public, but the salary is only £21k. It can be hard physical work but I like that, you can eat a ton and it gives you great muscles Grin. I retrained 5-6 years ago. I worked as an accountant before that.

Subeccoo · 03/01/2022 19:17

I stopped teaching to become a pastoral HOY. The money is good, I deal all day long with behaviour and safeguarding in an average size high school.
I am beginning my counselling training soon so would like to eventually become a school counsellor.
I also pre covid ran parenting classes in the school.
Love it all but as someone else said, if I won the lottery I wouldn't be there. I would however pursue the counselling qualifications.

Lacedwithgrace · 03/01/2022 19:17

I love it. I'm a personal assistant for DH and his small team which fits us perfectly. I don't particularly look forward to Monday morning but I don't ever dread it

TippledPink · 03/01/2022 19:17

Assistant team manager in a social work team for learning disabilities- love love love it! But if I was to start again, I would choose a career that was better paid.

Cheesewiz · 03/01/2022 19:17

Self employed cleaner and I absolutely love my job, I have just had a hip replacement and I miss working loads
