If so what is your job please?

I absolutely hate my job, there must be people who enjoy going to work. If you are one of these lucky people then please tell me what you do and why you enjoy your work.

I love my job , I can't believe how lucky I am to have such a lovely role. I am a civil celebrant officiating funerals, weddings and other of lifes celebrations. It is a pleasure and a privilige to take each ceremony.

@PodcastFunFair

I work in public health and absolutely love it
I also work in public health and love it 🙂 even on hard days I get huge satisfaction from knowing I'm trying to help people.

Secondary school teacher and I love it. However, that's not always been the case so I know where you are coming from! I'm in my third school now, and the management are excellent which helps. I gave up my TLR and only work 0.8. That's really helped me with work/life balance. I get what you mean about nothings ever finished though.

When I was at a previous school I was unhappy with a joined a facebook group. There's loads for current/ex teachers with ideas of what you can do as you have great transferable skills. In the end I didn't apply for anything new and got a new school instead, I'm so glad I stuck with it now as I love it again. But i know it's not for everyone. Have a look on Facebook for a group x

I love my job. At least most of the time. I'm a university academic.

lastqueenofscotland · 03/01/2022 20:31

I like it most of the time! I’m a QS, interesting project based work and lovely colleagues and lots of networking, rarely the have the same day twice.
Sometimes stressful but that’s par for the course.

Wowwowwowwowwow · 03/01/2022 20:38

I love it. I'm self employed and do associate training, training design and facilitation for a number of clients.

I also mentor women to get careers that they love and create CV's, prep them for interviews etc. It's amazing and after 3 years of graft I'm earning more than I ever did working for someone else.

Public relations (public sector) I am lucky enough to have loved every job I have had, all in media or PR. Interesting, creative and always lovely colleagues

GingerGloucester · 03/01/2022 20:44

Whoopsmahoot · 03/01/2022 20:44

Yes I do, research scientist

PonyPatter44 · 03/01/2022 20:45

I've changed my name for this. I'm a Prison Offender Manager, and I totally love it. I genuinely wake up every morning keen to get into work, I enjoy working with prisoners and I love my colleagues (most of them!).

NellieWellietheEllie · 03/01/2022 20:48

App developer. Love it.

FAQs · 03/01/2022 20:49

Self-employed and love it.

Knowivedonewrong · 03/01/2022 20:52

I run my own dog walking business. After 17 years as a TA, it's the best job ever. I wish I'd done it years ago.

@SwimmingIntoMotherhood

I love my job, I'm a forensic psychologist - some prisons are worse than others but the job itself I love.

Took a while to get to where I am in terms of qualifications and it's been worthwhile imo

I'm very jealous. I wanted to do a degree in psychology after A levels but my parents persuaded me to do business instead. I really regret it and I'm too old now.
MrsStarwars · 03/01/2022 20:55

I work as a nursery nurse on a Children’s Ward and love my job.
Hard work but great job satisfaction.

BottlingBurpsForGrandma · 03/01/2022 20:56

Like @Oatsamazing I also work in a historic property doing behind-the-scenes stuff. I love it, but I can't do my job as enjoyably when WFH - I think the surroundings and the team dynamic are vital for me personally. The wages are not great but there is flexibility and respect. We are reasonably well-resourced and I have the time to do a really good and thorough job.

I'm also a forensic psychologist and I also love my job. Smile

I'm an Opps Manager for a charity working 30h pw.

The organisation is a shambles to be quite honest, but I love the step down in responsibility from my last role - switching off my work phone as I went off for Christmas knowing that they didn't pay me enough to give a fuck out of working hours.

On the flip side, the work is really rewarding, they need a LOT of help to shape up, which I'm happy to do whilst I'm retraining into a new career.

For right now, it's perfect.

stillvicarinatutu · 03/01/2022 21:11

I love mine again now after falling out with it for a while .

Police
Officer.

LondonQueen · 03/01/2022 21:12

I'm a primary school teacher (currently KS1) but there is still times I dread coming in!

EmergencyPoncho · 03/01/2022 21:15
@EmergencyPoncho I think it’s probably better if you do have a specific qualification, but I don’t have one, only a business studies I’ve found it ok. If you have no qualifications the trick is to find agencies which ask you to write a test article (only a short one, you wouldn’t believe how many scammers there are out there!) instead of looking too closely at your CV. Then you can build up your experience and that will help to cancel out the lack of qualifications.
Thanks Nora Smile

ShatnersWig · 03/01/2022 21:22

I work in the arts. And I hate it now. The last two years have just been so incredibly stressful and mentally draining. I had to take time off twice last year for my mental health and almost resigned before Xmas. It's going to carry on in this vein until Covid is a common cold or eradicated. It never paid well but fed my soul and was rewarding and involved being with so many people and helping them with creativity. I've devoted 20 years to it and most of that to one place. Now the thought of going back tomorrow makes me feel sick. I'm going to have to give up. I don't know what I will do next.

petshihtzu · 03/01/2022 22:02

@LakieLady

Welfare rights officer. I love it so much that when I retire I may do sessions at CAB or similar.

I get great satisfaction from proving the DWP wrong at tribunals and getting shedloads of money in arrears payments as a result.

How did you get into this? Smile I would really like to be a benefits/welfare adviser or caseworker though I've 0 experience giving any welfare advice.
