If so what is your job please?

I absolutely hate my job, there must be people who enjoy going to work. If you are one of these lucky people then please tell me what you do and why you enjoy your work.

Used to work in healthcare. Switched to IT - love my job. Has problem solving, flexible, good company with good parental leave and policies.

@Ste23321 - sorry only just saw your post. Yes our school really values experience and doesn’t go for the cheapest option. There’s a good balance of older teachers - some have been there 30;years or more and younger staff. Management are sensible and experienced and we are trusted to do our job. There’s flexibility and independence in terms of what we teach. I’m an English teacher and can choose my own texts , within reason and we have resources to buy new texts. It is an academic school and busy so it’s hard work but I feel supported and many colleagues are real friends as well. It makes me so angry the way academies in particular treat staff.

Oh I understand you OP. Could you move schools? I am secondary too and hated teaching for years, but it was worth the slog as now I am in a school that suits me. I can't believe my luck. I am part time, 10 min walk from my house, have the A Level subject I love, and no behaviour issues. But I have done my time. At one point I quit mid year and dabbled with other things, but ended up going back. I am very glad I did now.

I really enjoy my job but I'm only 3 months in so appreciate that may change. Not saying what it is as it's one of those careers that gets a lot of flack
