Best Concert You’ve Been To / Wish You’d Been To

Had some YouTube recommendations which lead me to this.

What’s been the best concert you’ve been to & who do you wish you’d got a chance to see live?

My favourite was Pink - just absolutely phenomenal. Her voice blew me away.

I wish I’d got the chance to see Tina Turner live.

I saw Bowie dozens of times- travelled all over Europe - best was his Reality show at The Point in Dublin. He promised to come back next year.....

Prince was also phenomenal - the sheer talent of the man, great dancer, multi instrumentalist - a genius.

My best was Led Zeppelin reunion show at the O2. My God they were brilliant and the atmosphere was out of this world. I failed in the ballot so paid a humongous amount of money to a private ticket agency and would do it again in a heartbeat. I was too young to see them in their prime but always loved their music.

George Michael had the best live singing voice of any of them.

I always wished I could have seen Joni Mitchell live.

Foo fighters
Pearl jam
Nicklback were fantastic too
But, all time best, stopped me in my tracks at a festival was metalica. Just mesmerising.

Elbow were brilliant, tiny venue so able to appreciate every chord that they played.

Zz top years ago put on a cracking show and AC/DC were also superb.

Oh god I just LOVE a live gig!
I haven’t been to a bad one!
It’s my favourite pass time!

@ToooSensitive

And also Kylie at Glastonbury. We were right at the front.

The TV doesn’t do her justice. She is absolutely absolutely beautiful.

Jealous of this one too! Would love to have seen Dolly Parton there.

Best one was Slayer at Nottingham Rock City in 2000.

The whole day was brilliant, I saw Tom Araya outside (he was on the phone so I could only wave) then the gig was amazing. I balanced on a ledge so I could see properly and had a great view over the stage and mosh pit.

I’d have loved to have seen Queen and I still haven’t seen Metallica.

Live Aid was just so so the best, it was really the first of its kind as in a multi act concert.
The roar when Bob Geldoff walked on.
Radio GaGa in sync.
Paul Young ( was a big fan back in the day)
Do they know christmas at the end.

It was a Day I will never forget.

I was at the Mandela concert as well. Another brilliant day.

Floralnomad · 20/12/2021 13:53

@Maggiesgirl have you seen Paul Young recently , he was the support at Cher and it was probably one of the worst things I’ve ever sat through , couldn’t hit a note .

Maggiesgirl · 20/12/2021 16:33

@Floralnomad no, not in years, the last time i saw him was in 1991, when I went into labour at his concert Grin

A string quartet playing Schubert in my first weeks at university. After growing up rural, it just blew me away that there was all this culture happening on my doorstep.

louderthan · 20/12/2021 17:06

Pretty much every time I've seen Suede, but particularly special at Brighton Dome a few years ago. It's not a big venue and we were so close to the front. Brett came down into the audience at one point and I managed to get the most amazing pictures ❤️

louderthan · 20/12/2021 17:06

Definitely wish I'd seen Prince

RobertSmithsLipstick · 20/12/2021 17:08

I'd love to have seen Prince, and I've also long wanted to see the Prodigy, and the Stranglers.

louderthan · 20/12/2021 17:10

Oh and actually the Prodigy were unbelievably brilliant

louderthan · 20/12/2021 17:13

And of course I really wish I'd seen Nirvana. Just a few years too young.

Tiny2018 · 20/12/2021 17:17

Would be loved to have been at Live Aid, but was only 1 tear old at the time 😂
I watch the Freddie segment every Friday night over a bottle of wine and the sheer size of the crowd and everyone's high spirits blows me away every time.

Also would have given a kidney to see MJ live, preferably the Bad tour.

bsc · 20/12/2021 17:27

First, and possibly best- Metallica, Wherever we may roam tour

Close second- Mulatu Astatke, at Womad, possibly the last time he'll play the UK now? Sad

Saw Foo Fighters on their first UK tour, and didn't realise how big they would become Grin

Wish I'd seen- Suicidal Tendencies, Muse (don't know how I still haven't seen them)

RobertSmithsLipstick · 20/12/2021 17:36

Showing my age now, but the Specials were pretty damn good.

HeronLanyon · 20/12/2021 17:40

robert Yes! Also The Beat. Rip Ranking Roger. Saw them most recently at The Roundhouse. Brilliant.

RobertSmithsLipstick · 20/12/2021 17:42

He was madly jumping and climbing and leaping about.
Really high energy!
Tires me out thinking about it these days. Grin
