Had some YouTube recommendations which lead me to this.

What’s been the best concert you’ve been to & who do you wish you’d got a chance to see live?

My favourite was Pink - just absolutely phenomenal. Her voice blew me away.

I wish I’d got the chance to see Tina Turner live.

I wish I’d had the chance to see Queen live, Freddie was such a show man.
Imagine being at Live Aid, that must have been phenomenal.

RobertSmithsLipstick · 19/12/2021 05:04

Yes I wish I had seen queen.
The Stone Roses was my best gig, at Finsbury Park.
(Smiths, Jake Bugg, and John Lydon supporting)

A piano concerto at one of the Cambridge colleges in the early 2000s. The way that the fingers of the young man playing flew across the keyboard was amazing. I also felt very lucky as an ordinary person to be able to have a seat while one of the fancy dressed up uni students had to stand.

Taylor Swift Reputation went as a family. Took dds aged 11 and 13 was incredible show we love the music anyway and effects were amazing. Had late night waffles afterwards. A few years later both still say it was the best night of their lives.

Tillyvonpantsalo · 19/12/2021 05:17

Best, quite a few. Manic street preachers, Muse, biffy clyro, Kings of Leon,.
Small pub bands Pre drinks, Pett Level.

Wish I'd seen Queen with Freddie.

Kinsters · 19/12/2021 06:37

Elton John at Battersea power station. It was a really small show and we were right near the front but not crushed at all. He was incredible live. I've been to some really fun shows by smaller bands (foals and oh land) but Elton John was the best big performance I've seen.

CatNamedEaster · 19/12/2021 06:46

Best ever was Faithless. Wasn't really expecting anything different from how their records sound, but the blew me away: had a whole strings section playing and all the songs had completely different arrangements. Brilliant.

Wish I'd seen Fields of the Nephilim (sp?) in my goth days.

I saw INXS in the early 90’s at a smaller gig. There was something about MH that I can’t put my finger on, he had a presence, a sort of aura where you knew he was special.

RobertSmithsLipstick · 19/12/2021 07:06

He was mesmerising on screen.
Would love to have seen him in person.

Philandbill · 19/12/2021 07:06

@ShirazSavedMySanity I saw Queen at Knebworth. It was, as it turned out sadly, their final concert performance, and it was amazing.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 19/12/2021 07:12

Live Aid wins hands down.
However, I was at the recording of Eric Clapton Unplugged and that was pretty special to say the least.

ProfYaffle · 19/12/2021 07:13

Fun Lovin' Criminals supported by Republica at the Hacienda in Manchester, 1997. I think it was the drummer from FLC had been arrested during the day and we weren't sure it was going to go ahead so it was a huge relief when it did. The atmosphere was just amazing in such a small venue.

I also saw The Prodigy live twice, they were just jaw dropping, such a powerful force even in arenas.

Pulp at Victoria Park Warrington. One of the high points of the 90s for me.

thesunwillout · 19/12/2021 07:13

Nick Cave about 5 yrs ago
DD is the huge fan, but I don't think I've ever been to something so special before.

Oasis Earls Court.

Pulp in 1994 at the start. Unbelievable.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 19/12/2021 07:14

Forgot the one that got away… Jimi Hendrix IOW festival… I was too young :(

frazzledfragglefromfragglerock · 19/12/2021 07:18

Rammstein in Oslo. Sooooo good! Crowd surfing in a dinghy! Alice Cooper was amazing and always love seeing the Wildhearts.

The one that got away. Was due to see Motörhead at download 6 months after Lemmy died. Also still waiting to see Ozzy supported by Judas Priest which was meant to be 2019!

IsolaPribby · 19/12/2021 07:19

Adele at Wembley. It was amazing, and turned out to be her last concert before she took her extended break, as she cancelled the 2 after. Still gives me goosebumps to remember her Hello!

insancerre · 19/12/2021 07:25

The best gig ever was the Cure at the royal Albert hall. They played their first three lps with the original band members then finished with a set of absolute classics

I’m lucky that I’ve seen most of my fav bands but I’m sad I never got to see the clash

TheChippendenSpook · 19/12/2021 07:31

Robbie Williams in Manchester, the week after the terrorist attack. It was at the Etihad.

He was so respectful of the victims and the whole concert was incredibly moving.

badlydrawnbear · 19/12/2021 08:10

Probably Frank Turner at Rock City.
Or the year both Radiohead and Biffy Clyro did 'secret' shows on The Park stage at Glastonbury. Both were amazing.

I wish I was old enough to have seen Nirvana live. And I wish I had been able to see Frightened Rabbit live. I didn't discover Frightened Rabbit until it was too late.

VienneseWhirligig · 19/12/2021 08:25

Pink was really good. I work at a stadium so I get to see a lot of gigs, best one I've worked at for atmosphere and staging was, oddly enough, Take That's Circus tour. It was brilliant and it's not my sort of music.

Best one I've paid to go to was Meat Loaf in the 90s. I wish I'd seen Queen with Freddie.

Maggiesgirl · 19/12/2021 08:27

Live Aid. The whole thing was phenomenal, but Queen were just out of this world.

JustJustWhy · 19/12/2021 08:29

Bruno Mars.

DDivaStar · 19/12/2021 08:33

Michael Jackson The Black and White tour. An amazing entertainer.

Sunbeams09 · 19/12/2021 08:33

Coldplay, I wasn’t expecting a lot but they were amazing. Also Green Day and Kasabian are brilliant.

notimagain · 19/12/2021 08:34

Wish I’d been to? Set the time machine for Isle of Wight, 1970.

Does that date me?
