Would you report cocaine use at the Christmas party?

A member of staff was seen using and offered it to others too.

It's not something I do and I'd think it completely inappropriate. I wasn't there, but I'm not sure I'd have reported it.

It has been reported and staff member is suspended pending an investigation.

Would you have reported?

No probably not.

Totallydefeated · 14/12/2021 20:57

Absolutely not, I’d have kept my beak out. I can’t stand people who ‘report’ others.

MrsMerryMent · 14/12/2021 20:58

No absolutely not.

gamerchick · 14/12/2021 20:58

No. If grown adults want to risk heart attacks and shit, that's on them. I wouldn't dare me at my age, even if I was so inclined.

TuftyMarmoset · 14/12/2021 20:58

If they were offering it to others than yes I probably would. I might have been a bit shyer if it was just them.

Nevertime · 14/12/2021 20:58

Sorry so as not to drip feed it was a teacher, if that makes a difference.

Sally872 · 14/12/2021 20:59

No I wouldn't. But I wouldn't be surprised someone else did or particularly sympathetic either.

TuftyMarmoset · 14/12/2021 20:59

I was going to say the answers probably depend on sector - I am public sector and conscious of our image/reputation. Pretty bad for a teacher!

Roundeartheratchriatmas · 14/12/2021 21:00

Personally no I’d not report as they’re (presumably) grown adults but I certainly wouldn’t do it myself either !

ChequerBoard · 14/12/2021 21:00

Depends on your position in the company, I think.

Would be hard as a senior manager or Exec to witness that kind of 'bringing the company into disrepute' behaviour at a workplace event and turn a blind eye.

Would bring the individual's judgement into serious question.

ShirleyPhallus · 14/12/2021 21:01

Nope

Some of the hardest partying people I know are teachers. Presumably to drag themselves through otherwise pretty awful weeks!

fuckyourpronouns · 14/12/2021 21:01

No I wouldn't. I'm not the police. If I was asked about it I wouldn't lie though

Taswama · 14/12/2021 21:01

Yes I would. It's illegal. Shows a pretty poor lack of judgement to be using it and offering it to others at a work event.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 14/12/2021 21:02

I’m a teacher. I wouldn’t report it if it was outside of school hours and off school property, the only exception possibly being if I knew they had travelled to the party straight from work and therefore had brought the drugs into school. If they were just doing it recreationally at a party though I wouldn’t see it as a big deal.

FreeBritnee · 14/12/2021 21:02

I probably wouldn’t but I’d be quite glad someone else did.

ElectraBlue · 14/12/2021 21:02

Nope. I would mind my own business...

Nevertime · 14/12/2021 21:02

Oh yes. I had a corporate job in the city in the work hard play hard 80s. Never seen anything like partying teachers until I worked in schools Grin

RoseRedRoseBlue · 14/12/2021 21:03

A teacher? Definitely.

MissCruellaDeVil · 14/12/2021 21:04

Unless I was part of the SLT or concerned they had an addiction issue, I'd keep my nose out. Not great they're a teacher doing coke, though sadly it's very common.

DismantledKing · 14/12/2021 21:06

Yes, I would. Cocaine users are cunts.

MissCruellaDeVil · 14/12/2021 21:06

@RoseRedRoseBlue

A teacher? Definitely.
As a younger teacher I can say it's very common!
Jobseeker19 · 14/12/2021 21:06

Yes. Middle class cocaine use needs to be cracked down on

Nevertime · 14/12/2021 21:07

I have to admit I'm surprised how shocked the rest of the staff seem to be.

OP posts:
SickAndTiredAgain · 14/12/2021 21:08

Yes I would.

Lilolily · 14/12/2021 21:08

No. They’re grown adults and can do as they please. As long as nobody was being pressured into doing it leave them be.
