Would you report cocaine use at the Christmas party?

A member of staff was seen using and offered it to others too.

It's not something I do and I'd think it completely inappropriate. I wasn't there, but I'm not sure I'd have reported it.

It has been reported and staff member is suspended pending an investigation.

Would you have reported?

Sorry so as not to drip feed it was a teacher, if that makes a difference

Only if it was the school disco

Avarua · 14/12/2021 21:42

No way would I report! Embarrassing.

Prescottdanni123 · 14/12/2021 21:43

I work in a secondary school, and I would have reported it too.

That teacher may well teach kids who are involved in county lines, who end up in shit so twats like that can talk shit at parties.

I think, once upon a time, I'd have thought 'so what?', but I'd have been naively ignoring those people whose lives are ruined as part of the supply chain. So yes, report the twat.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 14/12/2021 21:48

No I wouldn't report it

user478932071 · 14/12/2021 21:49

Of course you should report. Would you trust coke users to teach your kids?

Bouledeneige · 14/12/2021 21:50

No I wouldn't report it.

I'd report it.

Don't fancy using my defib training on somebody in front of the kids when it could be avoided by not taking the one thing that causes most cardiac events in men under 45. And how can a teacher be trusted to take safeguarding seriously when they've bought their latest bag of distilled essence of grooming, rape, trafficking and murder of children?

Thiswayorthatway · 14/12/2021 21:51

I would definitely have reported it, it’s illegal.

SnugKnights · 14/12/2021 21:52

Yes. Middle class cocaine use needs to be cracked down on

Just middle class? You don’t mind working class people using them? Or upper class? Bizarre comment!

TheMoth · 14/12/2021 21:53

And those of you who think it's ok:

Next time you get all sad cos a kid's gone missing, or been stabbed in a fight, just all yourself why that happened.

It makes me so fucking angry. But hey, I'm just a kill joy. What harm did doing coke do anybody? I bet that teacher sat through safeguarding training and nodded along during the county lines sections too.

Fuuuuuckit · 14/12/2021 21:53

Party in their own home - meh, not my scene, wouldn't report

Party in a pub/club with their own non-teaching friends - meh, idiots, wouldn't report but prob mention to venue staff that folk are taking coke

Party with school colleagues, on an official staff night out, likely to be identifiable by reservation name/number of colleagues, endorsed by senior staff etc - hell yeah, straight to the head. Professional conduct is a huge thing for school staff, it's not just about wearing appropriate clothing and using appropriate language to the kids. Drug use whilst representing the school (which they absolutely would be at a staff function) even off-site is a gross misconduct matter. Zero tolerance.

I'm surprised your colleagues are shocked at the severity of the disciplinary actions.

I would be interested to know what employers WOULDN'T deal with this as gross misconduct.

Nevertime · 14/12/2021 21:53

Yes, good points about the exploitation of children, a big problem in our area and among our students. I wonder if the investigation will include how the drugs were obtained...

I wouldn't report but anyone openly using coke at a work's night out is a tit.

Scautish · 14/12/2021 21:56

The lack of morals demonstrated by so many on this thread is utterly depressing. Anyone, regardless of class, vocation, race etc who condones and even worse creates demand for cocaine is truly devoid of any empathy or humanity and should be utterly ashamed of themselves.

Jowak1 · 14/12/2021 21:57

Yes I would anonymously- 2.30 pm teaching kids the danger of taking drugs and 9pm taking cocaine!! Just wrong

“He said it was a one off” lol have you ever used?

Jobseeker19 · 14/12/2021 21:58

Omg, so its actually something that is going on on your area. Involving children too and you still had to ask if you would report it.

Where do you think the drugs come from?

Do you think there is a different type of cocaine that middle class people use compared to the ones ruining these children's lives?

Its the same and your colleague is contributing this, and everyone that didn't report it is helping to make it acceptable.

cansu · 14/12/2021 21:59

No I wouldn't.

godmum56 · 14/12/2021 21:59

I absolutely would in a heartbeat.
