I have a degree in English literature but I bloody love those cheesey Christmas books that you can buy at supermarkets. Grin

Love cheesy Christmas movies also.

(I'm also Jewish, but my Christmas love is real. DH takes the piss bigtime) Grin It might be because I did not celebrate christmas at all until I met DH. What a wonderful festival! Bloody loved going to Lapland to see Santa as well.

I feel like I could have written this post!

I have a degree in English lit, and have a secret penchant for trashy American sex sagas like Jackie Collins Grin

I'm also Jewish, but secretly listen to a playlist of Christmas choral music on Spotify!

IcedWinterPenguin · 04/12/2021 08:30

Happy Chanukah @EishetChayil :)

Christmas choral music is the best. My favourite one is Good King Wenceslas though, mainly because of the drinking I think.

We are a mixed religious family and I love celebrating everything now.

So nice to have more reasons to celebrate!

IcedWinterPenguin · 04/12/2021 08:34

Oh yes!! Pesach and Purim are my favourite Jewish festivals (again- the drinking.... ) but I seriously have no idea why I waited 30 years to get into Christmas. Life can be hard. Let's party!

I recently read Riders again for the first time in years. My other secret love is Maeve Binchy.

I secretly eat Dairylea lunchables when I go shopping and there’s no one else at home. Then I hide the evidence in the outdoor bin Blush

Peanutmnm · 04/12/2021 08:37

I eat chunks of butter, when nobody is looking😳

IcedWinterPenguin · 04/12/2021 08:39

Yum. I like those plastic cheese slices on toast. The texture agrees with me.

Watching trashy series on Netflix. Not reality TV (I don’t look down on it, it just doesn’t do it for me), but shows based on the most ludicrous premises - Prison Break, Revolution, Zoo.

I actually prefer YA literature to stuff for adults. And I have a vast collection of girls’ school stories, stretching over one and a half centuries.

But my most embarrassing confession is that I like those little sachets of cappuccino Blush

gogohm · 04/12/2021 08:45

Trashy reality shows - below deck currently.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 04/12/2021 08:46

I like Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team.

IcedWinterPenguin · 04/12/2021 08:47

Love Real Housewives. I pretend I am only watching it as a background to housework and the ironing.

Insert1x20p · 04/12/2021 08:51

My favourite TV show is Tattoo Fixers

My favourite movie is Forrest Gump (not that terrible I guess but scores high on the cheese factor)

Related to the above: when I get drunk I tell everyone how underrated Tom Hanks is as a actor.

Related to the above: I put ice cubes in wine.

RavenclawsRoar · 04/12/2021 08:53

I love trash TV. Also my favourite film genre is children's movies. Give me Zootopia or Tangled any day over any critically acclaimed cinematic masterpiece Grin oh, also I have Tik Tok and bloody love it.

RicherThanYew · 04/12/2021 08:53

The people in my life think I am a coffee snob but the truth is that I buy and drink instant at home, I use 3 teaspoons of it. Nothing to do with quality, i just like it fairly strong tasting.
I don't like music and honestly I could live without it, it makes me feel bad because everyone harps on about X's new album and how "Y made music in the 90's that paved the way for grunge" and I am trying to stifle a yawn!

Mrsblobbyspants · 04/12/2021 08:55

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

Me too! I even have a series link set up.
Insert1x20p · 04/12/2021 08:57

Also my favourite film genre is children's movies

I get that- at least kids' movies have a decent plot/ story arc and the characters behave credibly in relation to the "conflict".

TheOccupier · 04/12/2021 08:58

Same here! I really want to be the sort of person who watches documentaries and the Andrew Marr Show but Below Deck or Real Housewives lure me away every time...
MrsMcCluskeysCat · 04/12/2021 08:59

I love TikTok and spend far too much of my time on there...

TheOccupier · 04/12/2021 08:59

And DCC! Obsessed to the point I watch compilation videos on YouTube...

INeedNewShoes · 04/12/2021 09:04

Also my favourite film genre is children's movies

I'm with you on that one. I also prefer children's books.

My secret shame is overeating the biscuits/cakes I've made with DD. She's getting to the age where she's going to realise that a batch of 12 cupcakes should last more than 2 days, then I'll HAVE to stop.

OneOfTheGrundys · 04/12/2021 09:09

Enjoying any series of ‘Real Housewives’ waaaay too much. Except for the Jersey one which did one series so far and was boring. Obvs RHONJ was/is fabulously entertaining. Also KUWTK. Mega shame there lol.

bumblingbovine49 · 04/12/2021 09:10

I watch quite a few of those cheesy Christmas movies on the Christmas movie channel at this time of year

DH and DS find it annoying and hilarious in equal measure BlushBlushBlush

MrsMcCluskeysCat · 04/12/2021 09:12

Oh yes kuwtk here too!

Pinkflask · 04/12/2021 09:14

I have an English degree and worked as an English teacher and I spent the second lockdown chain reading a box set of Rosalind Pilcher books.

I like sachet cappuccinos and never ever listen to music, either it’s old stuff I’ve heard a million times or it’s new stuff I can’t be arsed to get into. (And it all sounds the same to me nowadays). I listen to podcasts of true ghost stories and catfishing instead.

And I LOVE Costa. I know it’s bland and mass market and I should hate it, but I don’t. There’s a new one on my way to work that’s all nice inside and I just find it so inviting and comforting. The bland conformity of it. It’s so soothing.
