I have a degree in English literature but I bloody love those cheesey Christmas books that you can buy at supermarkets. Grin

Love cheesy Christmas movies also.

(I'm also Jewish, but my Christmas love is real. DH takes the piss bigtime) Grin It might be because I did not celebrate christmas at all until I met DH. What a wonderful festival! Bloody loved going to Lapland to see Santa as well.

I love reading YA and trashy books too. I'm also a sucker for Catherine Cookson stories even though I know they're basically all the same storyline.

I also love trashy shows that have logic behind them. Things like The Masked Singer with all the clues they give and the dating show Are You the One? where everyone has one perfect match. I make spreadsheets with all the information to try and work out the right answers. Blush

BlondeDogLady · 04/12/2021 14:15

I let the dogs lick my feet. It's like a lovely massage!

Gretaburley · 04/12/2021 14:17

When my dd was a teen she watched My Super Sweet 16 and I secretly loved it.

UnitedRoad · 04/12/2021 14:24

I love ‘chick lit’ if there’s a village green, a tea shop, or a small seaside community, I will read it and I will love it. Extra points if someone moves to one of these places after having a tough life, fits in immediately, and marries the local vet. I’m not ashamed of this actually.

Police programmes, particularly police interceptors. I have a favourite police officer (and a rich fantasy life with him).

I miss Jeremy Kyle

I miss Gladiators, and can’t believe it isn’t being repeated anywhere

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 04/12/2021 14:24

it;s the gefilte fish. Took me 2o years to like it, but I succumbed in the end. ;)

Boiled or fried, OP? (I think it’s foul in either form but occasionally buy the boiled sort for my dad who has some weird, atavistic attachment to it.)

MaHBroon · 04/12/2021 14:25

My unashamed joy is The Casketeers on Netflix and im currently turning myself inside out to find a way of watching series 3 and 4 that Netflix aren’t showing for some reason

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 04/12/2021 14:30

My secret shame is very occasionally ordering a Big Mac meal on Uber Eats, scoffing it and hiding the packaging in the outside bin before DP gets home. If he asks what I had for lunch, I say “a sandwich,” which isn’t technically a lie.

AngelinaFibres · 04/12/2021 14:31

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

I like Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team.
Ooooooo yes this is brilliant
Meltedwellie · 04/12/2021 14:32

I LOVE Pimple popper videos 🙈

Deathraystare · 04/12/2021 14:32

I do not watch Strictly/sewing Bee/love island or any of that stuff but I do watch anything paranormal/crime stuff/animal stuff. My favourite is Pitbulls and Parolees. I DID enjoy Mob wives even though I got the wrong end of the stick because some of them look so masculine I thought they were mobsters trying to disguise them selves as women...unsuccessfully! Really miss the programme even though it was all about bitching and fighting ... like Real Housewives I guess though I hate that stuff!!!!

There was a series on Netflix called Virgin River. Unfortunately I do not have Netflix but I have read and enjoyed the book over and over!!! I loved the Robyn Carr series of books though not even my friends would know this!!!!

maddiemookins16mum · 04/12/2021 14:34

Spam. I would happily open a tin (from the fridge) cut it into cubes, take the plate and fork and eat the whole lot.

The same rule applies to a tub of extra thick cream.

Hahaha! That’s brilliant.

LuneyTunes · 04/12/2021 14:38

I have an MA English and like reading Chris Ryan, Andy McNab, trashy 'male' action books!

MushaGodHelpHer · 04/12/2021 14:41

Another lover of cheesy C5 Christmas films (watching one right now!), despite being a bit of a culture vulture. TV American Christmas is the best!

Omg no 😆
Makes me 🤢

theelephantinthegroup · 04/12/2021 14:58

Once a week, my DH and the DC go out to a sport activity for most of the evening. I make a proper meal for the DC before they go and save some for DH to warm up when he gets in. But I often secretly buy myself a microwave meal for one- the more basic the better- and eat it with oven chips and love every mouthful.

I could easily make enough of the proper meal for me too. I could also easily tell dh what I'm having, without fear of any complaint or challenge, but somehow the secrecy makes it taste better!

Marmite27 · 04/12/2021 15:05

I’m obsessed with the ‘Family Fudge’ woman on you tube. I’d I can’t sleep I find her voice so soothing, it can knock me out in minutes Blush

Cold in aspic with horseradish. mmmmmmm....... I have never made it myself. It seems way too much effort. I just wait for my Aunt to make hers. Grin

Another Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders fan here too. It’s so cheap, so cringy and so misogynistic but I love it In a similar vein - old series of Americas’s next top model.

I even looked at some of the cheerleader’s profiles on instagram. Only to discover they’re all full of extremely earnest Bible quotes, along with support for Trump

Marmite27 · 04/12/2021 15:14

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

My current evening guilty pleasure is American firefighter shows. I've done all the Station 19, 9-1-1, and 9-1-1 Lone Star available on Disney+ and now onto Chicago Fire.

DH phones me and asks if I'm watching half naked Firefighters again Blush
(He weekly commutes)

I’ve not watched 9-1-1 Lonestar?

I like Station 19 better than Greys these days and loved Chicago fire.

DH has also commented on the naked firefighters.

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 04/12/2021 15:16

DP is a very serious highbrow academic type. For people in his field, he is considered to be the highest level of authority, very important, very dry & dusty.

For him, Christmas doesn't start until he's watched Love Actually. On his own.

Pbbananabagel · 04/12/2021 15:16

I’m spend way too much time scrolling mumsnet 😂

ShirleyPhallus · 04/12/2021 15:19

@Wide

I eat a whole pack of jaffa cakes in one go,I also google the same 3 celebrity women to see what they are upto and have done for years,I would feel really embarrassed if dh or anyone seen the history plus it's quite pathetic and I would like to focus on my own life rather than others haha
Ooooh who are the 3 celebrity women?
IcedWinterPenguin · 04/12/2021 15:21

Oh- I also have a deep interest in what different cultures feed their kids. A bit random. But I wacth youtube videos about school meals across the globe. My favourite is french and japanese videos.
