I have a degree in English literature but I bloody love those cheesey Christmas books that you can buy at supermarkets. Grin

Love cheesy Christmas movies also.

(I'm also Jewish, but my Christmas love is real. DH takes the piss bigtime) Grin It might be because I did not celebrate christmas at all until I met DH. What a wonderful festival! Bloody loved going to Lapland to see Santa as well.

Haha sadeyed!

Musmerian · 04/12/2021 15:24

Another English Literature grad and secondary English teacher. Secretly read all sorts of cheesy chick lit on my kindle! Also watch Made inChelsea.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 04/12/2021 15:33

@Marmite27 Lone Star is the same cheesy storyline, based in Texas, and a cast who deliberately ticks every diversity box. I believe there's cross over episodes too.

Pineappleheart · 04/12/2021 15:34

@DarlingFell

We let the dogs lick our plates after dinner
I let my cats do this (sometimes if DH not looking they eat from my plate before I’m finished - gross I know but I don’t care) 😳🤣🤣🤣
AlCalavicci · 04/12/2021 15:36

I watched every episode of Buffy last year and I have just finished watching charmed .

This is absoulty nothing to do with the handsome guys ( spike - Buffy , Leo- charmed ) guys in the show.
And I ''accidently' printed a photo of spike he is in my bedroom .

I need a new guy to drool over now

AlCalavicci · 04/12/2021 15:47

Oh and I have watched all of the free to view ( Amazon prime) NCIS's ( Gibbs Blush ) would like to watch the pay for one but at over £100 per series I am debating it .
Has anyone xwached them ? Is it worth it ?

Twolostsoulsswimminginafishbow · 04/12/2021 15:54

Are you me? same degree and love fest for anything Christmassy, the cheesier the better. Sartre, Beowulf, Shakespeare and Sophocles sit happily alongside Jilly Cooper on the shelf.

Overdon · 04/12/2021 16:03

Wives With Knives (CBS reality Chanel), Blush

cortex10 · 04/12/2021 16:06

I have a single grown up DS and had little desire to have more children. I'm fascinated by Instagram posts by families with triplets, quads and more. I'm currently following a mother of five who's about to give birth to quads.

iklboodolphrednosedpaindear · 04/12/2021 16:09

I drink the vinegar from pickled onion jars. Have done for as long as I can remember. Blush

I eat mushy peas cold from the tin.

Iamanicepersonreally · 04/12/2021 16:12

I have a bacon cob every Sunday morning. Haven't told anyone that I've started eating meat after 20 years of being a vegetarian 🙂

YerWanIsGettinNotions · 04/12/2021 16:19

I buy the chocolate petit filous... and I don't let the DC know they're there. I eat them while they're at school.

cheapskatemum · 04/12/2021 16:22

I've found my tribe! I can't go to sleep until I've watched at least one episode of Below Deck. Thank goodness I've found you, I now know that when I've watched them all, I need to look for Dallas Cheerleaders (Is Amy in it?)

AlbusSeverusMalfoy · 04/12/2021 16:24

I like watching Irish Dancing clips on YouTube. Especially the Michael Flatly ones, not because I have a 'thing' for him but definitely a 'thing' for the dancing.

I've seen Gilmore Girls more times then anything else.

peaceanddove · 04/12/2021 16:30

Like others here, I have an English Literature degree and went to private school. But I find worthy literature soooooooo dreary and haven't touched it for decades. Every Christmas I re-read Winter Solstice by Rosamund Pilcher and The Dark Is Rising by Susan Cooper, and that's a pretty accurate marker of my literary tastes. Also love a Norah Lofts, gothic bodice-ripper and eagerly buy them 2nd hand off eBay.

Every Christmas, as part of my pressies from DH I get a big, fancy box from Hotel Chocolate. But, to be honest I'm much happier with a monster slab of Dairy Milk.

DH likes watching thoughtful, critically acclaimed movies. They bore me shitless. I love mindless, action froth like World War Z or Olympus Has Fallen.

AdamandMadam · 04/12/2021 16:30

@Meltedwellie

I LOVE Pimple popper videos 🙈
Me too and have also been watching a lot of ‘unblocking drains/culvert/beaver dams’ on YouTube recently 😂.

Very exciting if there’s a whirlpool involved 🤣

SprayedWithDettol · 04/12/2021 16:31

I love Star Trek. All of it. 🖖

BlooBagoo · 04/12/2021 16:32

I just remembered another. I'm obsessed with "tiny food" videos on YouTube. People making real food items but just in dolls' house sized portions and with tiny cooking implements. It's weirdly satisfying and relaxing to watch.

2000lightyearsaway123 · 04/12/2021 16:34

I absolutely love WWE wrestling.

Justleaveitblankthen · 04/12/2021 16:36

I record Loose Women every day and watch it all alone with my meals. I fast forward through the panellists I can't stand.
I can't watch it unless I'm eating and don't eat when watching any other telly.
Oh, the shame 😳

PonderingTotskeit · 04/12/2021 16:37

I love RUPauls drag race, I watch it on catch-up when no ones home. I can’t even really say what I like about it.

I’m also addicted to MumsNet. I keep promising myself I won’t come on here so much 🤣🤣🤣🤣

We keep chocolate in the garage, I stand in the garage and eat my secret chocolate stash. I’m always going to tidy up the garage. (Our garage is really just an enormous cupboard you can get to from indoors and has never had a car in it).

Hen2018 · 04/12/2021 16:52

I love watching Say Yes to the Dress, but only the vapid US episodes. I’m not even married.

I also like ear wax clearing videos. Audio Associates man has a soothing voice.

CurlyMango · 04/12/2021 18:34

I make microwave syrup sponge for lunch. I always work from home. But have had major withdrawals as the entire family has also been work from home…..much much harder to do.

Graphista · 04/12/2021 18:35

Seems we lit grads are a very similar bunch...

For me it's Jackie Collins and Jeffrey archer I especially love his short stories!

@vampirethriller wrote before I read yours I also like Charlie perfume preferably red or black but I also love ck and Elizabeth Arden

Both hardly quality "literary" writers and would never have claimed to be but bloody good storytellers!

Plastic cheese fan here too, I like them on their own wrapped around a slice of gherkin! Messy but yum!

Reality tv isn't for me but like a pp I don't look down on anyone who does love it, each to their own for sure. Me I'm a sucker for pretty much anything time travel or supernatural related among my favourite shows that I've watched like a million times are charmed (original of course not even seen beyond the crappy trailers for new one), quantum leap and one some may not be aware of or not have watched - timeless!

I'm not ashamed of this though I'm very open about it. My shame is that I seem to be a jinx for tv shows! The ones I love are always cancelled like 2-3 seasons in!

@Thurlow ooh! Interesting! I am a frustrated wannabe writer I've even been told by lecturers and others in publishing who've read my work that I need to bite the bullet and go for it...but my fear of failure really holds me back. But I have considered anonymous self publishing and looked into it a while back but couldn't really get my head around the technical aspects and didn't have a computer back then. I now have a laptop! So would love to revisit this idea. Care to share advice? Here or by pm if you're willing?

Same questions to @hotmeatymilk I'm so in awe!

Also - I seem to hit the "middle" of my novels and then not know how to get through that point? As in I know how I wanna start and end I struggle with how to get the story/characters to where I want them in that awkward middle stage, is that a problem you are familiar with/is common?

@CaribouCarafe weirdly I HAD the big white catholic chapel wedding and when I imagine marrying again (I'm 49 and been single almost 20 years and mostly happily so this is not a likely event!) it's on a beach with few guests very hippy/boho style total opposite to what I had (which truly was neither mine nor grooms desired wedding but LOTS of family pressure and we were very young! I was only 22 and not yet assertive!)

@PetuniaPlum I miss judge Judy! I'm without a tv last few years and cannot access certain channels anywhere I can stream online?

@Plantstrees I LOVE Gilmore girls

@ShirleyPhallus I'm not ashamed of using mn but I don't tell people irl as then I can be most honest on here

Smiling at the Jewish pps celebrating Christmas. In my family there are 4 religions and 3 denominations of Christianity (Catholic, Protestant - Church of Scotland, and brethren) so there's a lot of overlap and celebrating milestone events in different ways which I LOVE participating in. Makes life so much more interesting and richer.

@ColdTattyWaitingForSummer I also LOVE bones though can't watch it at the moment as I've let my Disney+ subscription lapse to save money for Xmas. I may do the Tesco Clubcard thing though

@UnitedRoad who's your fave? Pm if you like cos I know some of them!

@AlCalavicci you and I are very much tv soul mates aren't we?

I always thought I was a Cole girl (yea yea I know he's evil - character AND in real life but he is gorgeous!) then I was most discombobulated once to have an...interesting dream in which I married Leo! Made me see both Leo and Brian Krause in a very different light and that's the point at which I learned that Leo and phoebe (Brian and Alyssa) dated for a while!

APJ1 · 04/12/2021 18:43

I also love trashy shows that have logic behind them. Things like The Masked Singer with all the clues they give and the dating show Are You the One? where everyone has one perfect match. I make spreadsheets with all the information to try and work out the right answers.

@BlooBagoo I'm quite open about my own Masked Singer clues/guesses document! Grin
