Worst pain you've ever experienced?

Today I had a vacuum assisted breast biopsy which I didn't expect to be too bad. It wasn't until the anaesthetic wore off! The nurse told me to put a sports bra on tonight. Yeah that's not happening!

I've taken some tramadol I had left over so hopefully the pain will wear off soon but this is definitely up there with appendicitis, severe ear infection and toothache.

Giving birth and labour for 48 hours doesn't even feature in the top ten.

The worst pain I had was a miscarriage it was traumatically bad.
I ended up admitted as an emergency.
The second worst was a migraine I couldn’t shake off. If I lay down the pain was too intense but if I lifted my head up the nausea and vomiting was unbearable.

I gave birth to an almost 10lb first baby and although it wasn’t pain free it was nowhere near as bad as the other two things.

Epidural - the injection itself

Lower back pain when my back ‘went’. Literally unable to walk and screaming in agony for days

Yesthatscorrect · 01/12/2021 23:22

I don't really remember my epidural. Must have been on too many drugs by that point.

Yes a miscarriage would be horrendous on all sorts of levels. Sorry for your loss.

Infected joint.

I wanted to die.

Oh my god Ted, I can hardly bear to read about burns. That sounds awful.

Torn tendon in my thigh
Dental abscess
Kidney stones

I think I'd say kidney stones was the worst though - it felt like something was trying to claw its way through my organs and out of my back.

lynntheyresexpeople · 01/12/2021 23:26

You poor thing op Thanks I do hope the pain wears off and doesn't last long.

Slipping a disc, kidney stone, gall stone, smears (my cervix isn't at all cooperative)

TitoMojito · 01/12/2021 23:27

Aero barotrauma during the landing of a flight. I genuinely thought I was going to die. Thought my brain was bleeding or something. It took 3 days before the pain finally cleared up completely.

lynntheyresexpeople · 01/12/2021 23:27

Oh yes, that bloody hormone drip during labour was a bastard both times. Was fine without it!

lifeturnsonadime · 01/12/2021 23:28

Gall Stones was by far the worst pain I've ever experienced.

Followed by ankle broken in 4 places.

Followed by child birth (no pain relief as fast labour).

Plinkplonk1234 · 01/12/2021 23:29

Collapsed lung, ruptured ear drum, and pierced eyeball were the worst for me. EMCS and episiotomy were no picnic either. That sounds very painful OP. I hope you feel better tomorrow.

Nanny67 · 01/12/2021 23:29

Kidney stone! I had this last week, had to call an ambulance I literally thought I was dying. Took them 8 hours to get to me and I was lying on the floor.

moanyhole · 01/12/2021 23:30

An ectopic pregnancy
An infected wisdom tooth, I honestly was very tempted to remove the tooth with pliars.

oopsinamechangedagain2021 · 01/12/2021 23:31

Dental pain definitely. Given birth without pain relief, but toothache and I'm crying like a baby!

SelfHelpPlease · 01/12/2021 23:33

Giving birth without pain relief. I ask for an epidural but I was too late!

Pieceofpurplesky · 01/12/2021 23:33

When they tried to remove my mirena but my womb lining had grown over it and it wouldn't come out. Ended up with an operation.

Infected C Section scar. Very unpleasant in looks and smell.

ChocolateDeficitDisorder · 01/12/2021 23:34

Two frozen shoulders at the same time. If I moved suddenly both would go into spasm and leave me a sobbing mess. I used to take 100mg Tramadol at bedtime and my husband said that I would be screaming before I even woke up at around 5am when they wore off.

Gallbladder disease. I put off having the surgery for a couple of years until I was getting attacks daily. They only lasted for 30-40mins but the pain was a 10 every time. I wish I hadn't waited.

I had an emergency mid-cavity forceps delivery with no epidural on board (we don't want to wake the doctor up, do we dear?...Oh, why are you pushing!).

All three were excruciatingly painful. I don't have a favourite.

Omg @Yesthatscorrect I had one of these about 10 years ago and my pain was awful afterwards too, though it didn't last long and healed over relatively quickly. I had a tight crepe bandage wrapped around my chest and that helped a lot. The bruising lasted or a few weeks I was quite shocked to see my whole boob go from purple to green then yellow 😂
Yesthatscorrect · 01/12/2021 23:35

Thank you, it is easing off a little. I'll try to sleep soon with it propped on a cushion for some relief.

Yes dental pain is horrific. My H had a tooth cracked in half during covid and was crying with the pain. Nothing would touch it.

Cervical examination at 5cms dialated. Hurt like hell.

Worst I've ever felt in myself was a bad kidney infection. Really awful.
