French Man has fingers removed to resemble "alien."

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but it popped up on my news feed and I initially thought it would make a lighthearted "Oh look, a man identifying as an alien now" post.

Reading the article it's absolutely horrific. This poor man needs help, not people indulging his delusions. The surgeons involved need struck off, whatever country they're in.

And what do you think the intent is here? Cutting off your nose, lips, ears, and fingers. Procedures they refuse to do in your own country so you need to go elsewhere to have them done. Posting this all on social media. Telling people you want to be an alien. Dancing around with a big bloodstained knife.

Come on. I agree that body modification can be acceptable but this isn’t just body modification.

Unfortunately I don’t know what I’d propose. This type of extreme behaviour is not my area of expertise.

I think a start would be to look at whether or not amputation of healthy body parts be allowed but I’m not sure how that would help since he already had to go to other countries to have it done, and there’s no way to control every country.

He should be frog marched to a Leprosy or burns unit and be forced to listen to the afflicted ones stories of how their disfigurements occurred through disease, accident and crimes upon them and how they yearn to regain their former looks.

Why should he? I used to cut myself due to depression, are my scars not real enough either?

My concern is that he now has a 40% loss of functionality of his hand. This will impact his ability to grip, grasp and to hold items.

I wish he had chosen another way of demonstrating his 'alien-ness'.

He’s lost functionality of the hand but honestly that’s the tip of the iceberg. He’s said himself that he struggles to speak because of the remodel of his top lip, and I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t have issues from the removal of the nose. His nasal passage is just open.

Also, he’s posting pics of metal/bionic type mechanical legs, so I think we can guess where he’s going next.

I know, but the thread is about his hand, not about his other modifications.

To be fair all his modifications have come up throughout the thread. They’re all relevant as obviously it’s the extensive nature that shows the extremity of the situation.
