Have you met a celebrity? What were they like?

Following on from the ' have you met abs infamous criminal' thread. Has anyone met a celebrity (bonus points for really famous) and were they nice?

Tom cruise and Nicole Kidman and they were incredibly kind to a group of starstruck schoolgirls. This was 1991 I think

I’ve met Sheridan Smith when she was filming ‘The C Word’ at an indoor football pitch place and I also met Paul Heaton from Housemartins/Beautiful South on holiday as he was staying at the same hotel. Both very nice and happy to let me have a photo with them

Peter Barlow from Corrie.Very short!

James May and Richard Hammond - met them separately. Both lovely.

Pink. She was just lovely.

Prince Charles. He was quite witty and shorter than I’d imagined.
Queeny was absolutely diddy.

Loads but standouts are Sinead O'Connor (very sweet and friendly) and Nina Simone (total diva but polite - and fair enough as she'l was a legend)

Gordon Ramsey when I worked at one of his Kitchen Nightmares restaurants as a student. He was lovely to me and asked me questions about Uni etc but he was (rightly) pissed off at the owners who were total dicks.

DH seems to bump into famous people all the time somehow. He says the worst was Scarlet Moffat.

Quite a few (did a lot of tv/film extra work).

But I can confirm that the the genuinely loveliest most humble celebrity I have ever met is Simon Reeve.

I’ll be the first to say Anthony Stewart Head.

Absolutely lovely.

Prince Andrew. I was 15 and at a private social event. He was a letchy creep.

Prince Phillip, at an event at my university. He was very funny and shorter than you’d think

Piers Morgan, at a fundraising event. Extremely lovely and engaging. Phil Tufnell at the same event, entitled and rude

The Queen - through an event at work. Very kind to the children, stopped to talk to as many as possible. One had to "do something" (can't say what as outing) while a photo was taken with the Queen. Unexpectedly the child was visibly finding it difficult and she turned from the photographer reached out and helped them, while still holding her handbag.

Once sold shirts to Cate Blanchett and her husband at Thomas Pink. She came in unannounced and I was the man at the door. There were a couple of PRs from Head Office making a big fuss about some much less famous British actors. When one clocked her she almost fainted and ran straight over. CB said she was very happy with me instead and I taught her husband to tie a bow-tie

Loads, few off the top of my head:

Gordon Ramsay, exactly as you expect him, told me to fuck off after I told him a ate packet minestrone soup. Fair I thought. He was funny and matter of fact and did everything I asked him to do even though it was mainly stupid.

Nigel havers: absolutely lovely, again very pleasant and willing. I told him my Nanna loved him and he took it with good grace.he had to hang out of the back of an ambulance and he was on board with that.

John Prescott: funny story where I actually got trapped alone with him in a school gym. We got locked in. He was lovely and we had a laugh.

Lots of sports stars from the era of Chris akabusi, Sharon Davies etc, all pleasant enough.

Michael winner: was truly an absolutely dreadful man. Horrible to everyone around me and around him.

David Cameron: he was nice but it was a very rushed visit and his awful pa was doing the ‘sleeves up David’ shots with him and he seemed a bit fed up with it all. Happily posed for a photo with one of our guys even though he was really busy.

Prince charles: lovely although totally used to dealing with situations involving lots of people. Also did whatever asked of him photo wise. Same for princess anne.

That’s a few off the top of my head. The only awful celeb that springs to the front of my mind was Michael winner only because he was so foul.

We live sort of near the village where Kate Middleton’s parents live and were at a family playground/petting farm type place one weekend. She was there with all three kids, plus her parents (and a couple of very bored looking security guys). My daughter is about a year younger than prince Louis, and was on a little climbing frame thing that he was also on, being supervised by KM’s dad. I know he’s not really a celebrity, but anyway he was very nice, and Louis was incredibly well spoken and polite.

And, not massively famous I know but about 10 years ago I worked in a supermarket and Brendan Cole lived nearby so came in regularly. This was the height of his strictly fame I guess, and he was always lovely and good natured to people who talked to him.

I was ten, and she was my hero. Potter was popular, but hadn't yet taken off in the way it would soon after; at that point, she had only released the first two books. There were about 150 seats in the room, I believe, and not all of them were full. Quite ridiculous now, when you think about what was to come!

I think more than a few people here will be pleased (but not surprised) to hear that she was wonderful. She read us the passage from Chamber of Secrets where Harry meets Dobby, complete with voices. Then she answered questions. I asked what the next book would be called and she said it was Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Finally, she spent ages signing books with lovely personalised messages while everyone queued up for their turn. When my very confident friend piped up that I had handed my battered copy of Philosopher's Stone round the school so extensively that it had fallen apart, she signed my books as you will see in the pictures.

That meant the world to me at 10 and still does.

@FartNRoses he really is. After a very long late night at his show, he was doing a book signing.

He didn't have to, but he got up out of his seat, came around the table and forward to greet every single person with a handshake/hug. He took time to speak with everyone in a completely unhurried and personal way and offered to have photos. Such genuine warmth and gratitude expressed for people coming to see him. Wonderful man. 🤩

When I worked for a camera shop one of our customers was Timmy Mallett. His camera had broken and he needed it fixed, we didn't fix them in store so we warned him it could take months for the repairs to be carried out, he still agreed to have his camera sent off. But then returned almost daily chasing it, despite us pointing out we had absolutely no way of speeding it up.

I do remember him being annoyed that one of my (younger) colleagues didn't know his name, and we got a good laugh out of the fact his ring tone was that awful Itsy Bitsy song (we wouldn't have been surprised if he was dialing himself either, as he had a good look around the store to see if the ringtone had got a reaction - I had to hide in the stock room to laugh)

I used to be jealous that we had him as a customer when a store a few doors down also had a regular celebrity customer, one who (at the time) was regarded as much nicer. Can't say I'm jealous anymore though, their customer was Rolf Harris.😱

Elton John, when he was Chairman of Watford FC. He was very lovely to a starstruck young girl waiting outside the VIP exit after his team had lost heavily to mine at an away fixture, and spent a few minutes talking to me rather than just signing my autograph book and getting in his car.

I've met quite a few celebs through work and the most hilarious were Blazin Squad, who were doing a gig and got mobbed by a bunch of teenage girls as they were being walked to their cars after the event. One of the boys quite plaintively asked where his mum was!

Richard Branson - really lovely

DH met Sir David Attenborough - he was also absolutely lovely
