Following on from the ' have you met abs infamous criminal' thread. Has anyone met a celebrity (bonus points for really famous) and were they nice?

@AdoptedBumpkin I served him in a restaurant and he asked to be "hidden" so no one would bother him however the restaurant was basically empty that day 😂

Completely forgot that I met the artist & designer Kaffe Fassett. Went to a talk he gave, back end of the 80s, with my DM & a friend of hers. At the interval he made a beeline for my DM who was wearing a knitted sweater that he admired and they spent the whole time drinking coffee & chatting about knitting. He was absolutely lovely. I'm still a huge fan of his work.

Emma Bunton - she was lovely but insisted I was someone else, she wouldn't hear otherwise. Kept asking how such and such was, did I enjoy that event etc. she wouldn't believe I wasn't that person so in the end I just went along with it and made up a load of crap.

Katherine Ryan - absolutely gorgeous, friendly, happy. I have a lot of time for her.

Victoria and David Beckham with their kids - sweet, obviously didn't want much attention, seemingly good parents and warm to one another

Kate Moss - she was tipsy so a bit raucous but lovely and polite

Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas. Lovely people, really enjoyed their company

I think jones somewhat damaged her likeability over her claim in court that a million pounds weren't a lot to them.

Oti Mabuse - an absolute darling!
Stuart Maconie - very funny and pleasant bloke.

I have Barry Ashworth (Dub Pistols) a lift once. He was very lovely, rather worried about his broken down car - and totally off his head!

PaperMonster · 17/10/2021 19:49

Oh and I used to speak with Peter Kay on the phone as part of my job. Always very lovely.

Again years and years ago, I’d speak with Thora Hird. Can still remember her address!!!

I met Russell Grant many moons ago and he was very flamboyant and lovely. In the same job I used to speak with many famous sports people, but the only one I can remember because he was very polite is Tom Finney who was retired by then.

Lily Allen - genuinely lovely, but assertive. She took no shit from anyone and I appreciated that.

Chris Evans - excellent fun on a night out (he turned up at my ex's 40th and was on point all night)

Chris Packham - an old friend of my parents' and acquaintance of mine and is a complete delight.

I met Jamie Redknapp after a recording of Saturday Night Football years ago where they had a live audience. He was very chatty throughout the breaks in the recording with everyone and then afterwards, he and the other pundits came out into the lobby to take photos. Tons of blokes crowded round him and we must have waited a good 20mins to get to the front. By that point security were trying to hustle everyone out but he said no, it's okay, they've all waited and took a photo with everyone who wanted one. Very lovely and he also smelt amazing!

I was waiting for a train at Euston station once and realised that the chap standing next to me gazing up at the departures board was Nicky Campbell. While knowing who he is, I'm not a listener to his radio show and don't watch him on TV (funnily enough, I have met him once, through work, though he'd never remember that), but three women standing nearby were very excited and approached him to say hello and ask if they could take a photo with him.

To give him his due, he was impeccably polite and friendly, despite obviously expecting his train to appear on the board any second. The women were thrilled.

I'm rather envious of SummerOrAutumn meeting Kaffe Fassett!

Joseph Gordon Levitt had his little boy in my son's class at school while they filmed in my city. I was too scared an awestruck and kiwi to talk to him. His wife was staggeringly beautiful and they both seemed very nice, very normal.

Ciaram55 · 18/10/2021 00:51

I don't think though that someone who is "horrible" necessarily means they are. Everyone has their off days. Same if someone was "lovely". We don't really know just off one chance meeting. Interesting thread though. Smile

Cameron Diaz - stood next to her in a queue, she was with her family and very shy and sweet.

Gavin from Gavin & Stacey, think his name is Matthew? Very arrogant and made direct eye contact, probably hoping I would say something to him, I didn't.

Craig Revel Horwood - could not have been nicer.

Lots of TOWIE/Reality stars - Jade Goody, Fearne McCann, Jacqueline Jossa, all did the whole looking around, loud talking, everyone please notice me thing.

Suzi Quattro - so rude.

John Malkovitch, walked past him, seemed shorter than I imagined.

Simon Cowell and Sinitta, seemed nice.

Loads & have been friends with a few over the years too.

I'm friends with an Oscar winner since pre fame, though we don't live nearby anymore, so have drifted a bit after they moved away. They are wonderfully self depreciating & down to earth & hate the limelight.

I met & danced with David Bowie who was really lovely, very quietly spoken & just as enigmatic as you'd expect.

Joey Ramone was funny, charming & a tight wad

Johnny Rotten I've met a few times & he even fireman lifted me out of a pile of broken glass with bare feet & took me to the safety of the loos to clean up. Met him at several parties after that in the early days & he was always funny, thoughtful, charming & very blunt if he didn't like something. I liked him a lot. Disappointed in him these days though

I've met both Minogue sisters. Kylie who was far more famous at the time was lovely, funny, very down to earth & a surprising potty mouth. Danny was a nasty stuck up bitch who thought she was way too special to speak to mere mortals even though she had to on the day as she was working with me. Saw her almost naked too & she was skeletal, & just generally very uptight & full of her own self importance

I'm relieved its not just me. However, now I'm enthralled about what type of porn he's into!

Oh yikes! It does explain so much about the way I felt towards him then.

NearLifeExperience · 18/10/2021 12:45

I am shocked and disappointed to read the about about Ian Mc!!!

NearLifeExperience · 18/10/2021 12:45

*above about

DandyHighwayWoman · 18/10/2021 13:49

This makes me so angry, if it’s well known what hasn’t he been reported.
