Absolutely masses.

One that stands out was Marilyn Manson. Utter twat.

On the flip side of that. Keith Flint from the Prodigy. Lovely lovely man.

TheOrigRights · 13/10/2021 17:11

Richard Branson

NotMyDayJob · 13/10/2021 17:52

Tracey Emin. Mad as badgers but really lovely, just on a very different astral plane. I made her a cup of tea and then she lay down and went to sleep on the office sofa

Jean Christophe Novelli with my son. He was very sweet and kind and replied to a letter from my son aftzewards.
Keith Floyd spent a weekend with my family. Asked my sister for a mallet to stop me talking... Also stuck up for me when someone wasnt nice to me.
Joan Hickson when Miss Marple was filmed at our house.
The obligatory Anthony Head. Ds2 taught him the sign language for vampire!
Have chatted to Samuel West, Doctor Ranj, Justin Fletcher and Martin Freeman on videocall when ds2 met them.
Missed a videocall with Noel Fitzpatrick.. Probably for the best as ds2 told him that Mumma loved, fancied him and wanted to marry him!! Blush

Lots of the Corrie cast. Used to work next door to the old set.

Used to live in the same apartment block as Nick Tilsley.

Peter Barlow in a kebab shop, also lovely let us have some pics and we had quite a laugh with him waiting for our kebabs.

Mick off brookside.

Sinbad off brookside. Both nice fellas.

Jeremy Kyle. He's exactly the same as when he's on the show.

Walked round a bank of one-armed bandits in a casino in Las Vegas and bumped, literally, into Lemmy from Motorhead. My DH is a big fan but was hiding as he was too star-struck to approach him. I just went 'oh hi Lemmy!' and he automatically stuck out his hand, obviously thinking I was a fan (I'm not).
Made some small talk about his autobiography but he was just constantly looking over my shoulder, obviously looking for someone more interesting to talk to.
He had on cowboy boots with jeans tucked into them, a tight black shirt with the buttons undone, and the kind of hat as worn by a Confederate officer in the US Civil War. Scuzzy facial hair.

I've met a few famous welsh rugby players. Didn't know who they were though as I dont watch rugby.

nancybotwinbloom · 13/10/2021 18:12

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 13/10/2021 18:13

I met Jodie Kidd and her then husband in a lift at Gatwick when ds was 8 weeks old . She was so nice and totally smitten with Ds . She really was so tall slim and pretty.

HowardNoir · 13/10/2021 18:51

I met Stephen Fry at a cafe, we had a chat about the weather and he recommended a drink and pastry that he then paid for. He is genuinely the nicest person I've ever met.

I met Julia Davis while shielding from the rain in a shop doorway in London. She very sweetly offered me her umbrella. Also met her partner, Julian Barratt, who I adored even before then (hence my name). He was quiet but very easy to talk to, it seemed like he spoke to everyone as if we were old friends.

Very briefly stood next to Nigel Slater at a food fair. I was expecting a pompous git but he was talking to the child of the stall runner and seemed very friendly. They offered him a slice of cake but he insisted on paying.

Martin Kemp was not so nice, but still better than JK Rowling I'm sure Grin

Hilarious that someone decided that Ade Edmonson is a grumpy shit because he didn't wave back to some total randomer while he was driving.

Simonjt · 13/10/2021 19:02

Kylie Minogue we (me and my son) have now met her three times, on the first two he was given a piggyback, at the latest he was far too big 😂

Derrymum123 · 13/10/2021 19:09

Paddy McGuinness - he was lovely and kind, not loud or brash.
Tony Benn- very articulate.
Clive Myrie - charming and intelligent.
Tyson Fury - he was out running. A beautiful perfect smile which lit up his face, when passing and he said good morning. He seemed like a polite gentleman. No airs and graces.

MilduraS · 13/10/2021 19:12

I met quite a few famous people through a job in tv so here's a random selection.

Kim Kardashian- Teeny tiny, not unkind but everyone was under strict instructions not to speak to her. Only important people were allowed to speak to her. Did smile and say thank you when I held a door open. Kanye was with her once and bounced between "I'm very important" and "I want to be friends with anyone who looks my way". It depended on how interested he was in the current conversation and whether he wanted a distraction.

Karl Lagerfield (former head of Chanel)- An absolute ass. Everybody was beneath him and we should all have been honoured by his presence. Nobody looked forward to his visits but he was always funny and charming when the cameras were on and our presenters had to pretend they were great friends having a laugh.

Nicolas Sarkozy (French president)- he was meeting the head of accounts who was an old friend of his and wandering the building alone. Got in a lift and had a nice chat (I was clearly foreign and new to France). He was very charming and surprisingly attractive. During the conversation I said "oh so you work in accounts?" And he didn't correct me. That story spread like wildfire around all 4000 employees and was told for years. I was mortified when my boss explained Blush

Milla Jovovich- a bit rude but bearable until she ended up hitting her glass of water off the table in anger then storming off the set on live tv. The presenter had mentioned her father being in prison when she was a child. We never got her microphone pack back.

Most of the major celebrities I met were really nice or at least nice enough. It tended to be the more minor celebrities who had a god complex. Some of the worst were our own presenters who used to walk into the office and look like they were waiting for applause. They forgot that we saw them everyday and didn't really care.

I’ve met quite a few!

Danny John Jules - bubbly, energetic, super friendly, achingly charismatic and pure sex. But he is The Cat, so...

Hattie Hayridge (Holly from Red Dwarf) - beautiful, interesting and so easy to talk to. Honestly I want her to be my best friend

Floella Benjamin - one of the best people ever. She smiled at me and it literally felt like a blessing

Ramin Karimloo topless on the beach. It was very nice.

Christian Slater - seemed more interested in the hotter people across the street

Jason Donovan - ditto

Lee Evans - a diamond. Makes you feel like the most special person in the room, treats you like a long lost mate

Robert Webb - looked absolutely terrified of my husband for some reason (who looks like Chesney Hawkes and is about half as threatening)

Mackenzie Crooks - looked absolutely terrified of me

Bill Bailey - seemed utterly bewildered anyone what want his autograph, but was really sweet

Graham Norton - very dazzly, friendly and polished

Terry Gilliam - very bubbly and giggly and energetic

Terry Jones - a gentleman, loved him

Michael Palin - professionally nice

Joshua Jackson - least said soonest mended!

Jennifer Tilly - stunning, friendly, kind and one of the best people ever!!!

Wallace Shawn - a bit flustered and annoyed but still made the effort to chat, so praise for that!

Lena Headey - really teeny tiny and beautiful, very sweet and gracious

Chris Sarandon - wonderful wonderful man

Christopher Ecclestone and his clones

Redannie118 · 13/10/2021 19:25

I was recently on the red carpet at the National TV awards. That was an eye opener.
Lovely people- Phil and Holly, Danny Dyer, Kate Garraway, Ricky Gervais, Davina Mccall and Michael Mackintyre.
TBF there were loads of soap/reality TV stars who I had no idea who they were but seemed lovely.
Awful- Alan Carr and Ant and Dec swanned down and refused to make any contact with the crowd.
Katie Price seemed drunk and would cover Harveys face with kisses the second the camera was on him, which seemed over the top and a bit attention seeking tbh.
David Tennant who I had come to see, refused to walk the red carpet(The only star who did)so that was disappointing

wanttomarryamillionaire · 13/10/2021 19:25

Prince Philip was charming, Dot cotton from eastenders was lovely as well. Peter Davison from Dr who was a total letch.

InFiveMins · 13/10/2021 19:28

Small and brown

ScienceSensibility · 13/10/2021 19:35

Lots of tennis players when I used to work for the ATP

Federer - gorgeous. Funny. Charming. V down to Earth.
Nadal - quite shy, improved as his English got better over the years, extremely polite and humble. Delightful
Murray - funny as heck. Courteous even though he wasn’t mad about interview with media. V intelligent.
Djokovic - total weirdo, simmering aggression with a painted persona on top. His family were awful too, seemed to think he should be King of Serbia or some such. Tetchy over the smallest thing.

Most of them were completely fine and normal.

BathTangle · 13/10/2021 19:49

John Simpson (BBC world affairs editor): charming, approachable and very self deprecating.
Alexander Armstrong (Pointless): friendly, but very pleased with himself.
Cressida Cowell (How to train your dragon): fabulously funny, friendly and endlessly patient with her young fans - carried on signing books and posing for photos way longer than her team wanted her to!

ibldew · 13/10/2021 19:52
