Things you enjoy which are supposed to be terrible

I'm inspired by a thread about ""Nice" Things That Aren't Actually Nice" over on the AIBU board.

I'd love to know about things you (secretly or not-so-secretly) love which you're "supposed" to find dull, inconvenient, or just plain crap.

For me: the cheapest tinned vegetables, replacement bus services (nicer view sometimes!), Travelodges.

Hospital food
Was delicious, loads of puddings and they brought me 2 brews at a time AND I didn't have to make any of it. Bliss

Travelodges. Great way to see someplace new on a sensible budget.

The smell of chlorine from swimming pools.
It began when I was pregnant with my youngest.
My daughter would go swimming with school and I'd be there smelling the chlorine on her costume while relaxing in the evening!

Flat pack furniture
Untangling anything like Christmas lights, wires etc
Excel spreadsheets

Any excuse to sit quietly by myself and get engrossed in something!

Oh… and chicken and mushroom Pukka Pies…

I've now found someone to do my ironing, clean my oven and clean my windows. Yay!

I like Skegness, A Place in the Sun and tidying drawers.

Epilating my legs

A Brazilian wax. I find it relaxing and strangely emancipating. Freedom from my incredibly hirsute neither regions.

Ooh I forgot, I love a kids disco, I've missed those the most with this Covid business. The schools go to a good deal of effort and everyone seems so happy, plus I have a special fondness for the flashing/glow in the dark tat that they always sell. Gosh I miss them :(

Ditto to Fray Bentos pies. My go-to really CBA dinner - one each for me and dh, just with frozen peas.

90s music (I cannot stand what counts as music now!)
Staying in a static caravan
Blackpool, even god forbid, skegness! (Both great if the weathers good not so great when it’s not)
Flying (prefer short haul as being squeezed in those tiny seats play havoc with my sciatica)

Public transport full stop, I cannot drive, now live in South London and come from an area where the public transport was crap
Sweary kids dont both me either, I have two of them

I'm sure theres more. Unfortunately I hate housework and laundry, dont drive so dont like that, hate ironing, dont like cold weather and dont like other peoples toddlers, although I feel as though I should. I also dont like the dentist, but can understand the appeal of being in hospital and being looked after, I've probably tempted fate.

O I love cheesy 70s/80s/90s music as well

I like having a bit of a temperature. Gives me a slightly buzzed feeling.

Cleaning the filters on the washing machine and tumble dryer
Ear syringing
Fray Bentos pies
Greggs sausage rolls (my Saturday treat with a cappuccino)

Food - chicken or sardine and tomato paste on toast, cheapo burger van sausage in a bun with even more cheapo tommy sauce!
Activities - squeezing my 13 DS’s zits, weeding the garden, emptying the fluff from the tumble dryer filter

Any and all fake meat products, including 'facon'!

Wimpy and Star Burger much prefer to Byron burgers

Pulling hair from the plug hole

Cleaning my ears

Getting a fever, when you start to shiver and feel cold and wrap yourself in the duvet and feel comforted (only a slight fever is enjoyable)

Driving at night especially if I’m lost

Value ketchup

Lunch at Wetherspoons so much choice and always enjoy what I have had

Another vote from my corner for grimy old boozers (pubs, not blokes).

Lockdown - no pressure to socialise, no parents evenings, everyone cosy and safe at home, no extracurricular activities - I could go on (but I do feel guilty to feel that way when it has been so hard for many people)

I thought I was the only one that done this lol my cravings were smells when I was pregnant. Not pregnant now but My mouths watering thinking about it . I think my iron levels are low.

Snowballs (the drink)

Steak and kidney puddings (I love the sogginess of the pastry, don't like shortcrust or flaky)

True Crime (killer in my village etc, I think I'd know if I met a killer in my village as am a bloody expert!)
