Things you enjoy which are supposed to be terrible

I'm inspired by a thread about ""Nice" Things That Aren't Actually Nice" over on the AIBU board.

I'd love to know about things you (secretly or not-so-secretly) love which you're "supposed" to find dull, inconvenient, or just plain crap.

For me: the cheapest tinned vegetables, replacement bus services (nicer view sometimes!), Travelodges.

@TheFoundations I think it's having an excuse to rest and wrap up warm on the sofa in my dressing gown. I would feel grotty if I did that feeling well, so feeling a bit under the weather can feel like a bit of a break if you see what I mean! Dont like coughs though!

WeDidntMeanToGoToSea · 08/10/2021 18:35

Renting. Not in UK though - suspect if I was it would be a different story.
Wotsits
Quiz shows. I love Pointless.
CDs and DVDs
Yes to tinned beans with veggie sausages!
British supermarket and department store cafes. So comforting when I visit the UK.
New ways of using language that are expressive of the times. Including such MN horrors as 'gift' as a verb, 'reach out' (that stupid Four Tops meme has got very old), 'can I get' and 'gotten'.
Children at weddings
Yes to damp/blowy weather. Love it.

Being in hospital. As much as I don't want to tempt fate and end up in one for ages, or with anything serious, being in hospital with a kidney infection was the only time in my adult life that I didn't have to do anything and had food made for me. Had a morphine pump that I just pressed, nice little sleep whenever I wanted it. Private room because the ward was shut down with norovirus. Kidney infection was horrible but being looked after in hospital was great!

Mashed potato made from powder or flakes. I add butter and cheese and eat it from a bowl.

I add salad cream as well as butter. Food of the Gods.
