Insulate Britain are just awful

TikTok of the pain Insulate Britain are causing.

That poor women. You can hear the pain in her voice.

These people are absolutely heartless.

How many lives are they going to negatively impact before they just shut the fuck up.

Nobody will listen to them because of the way they are going about things.

I cannot get my head around hearing that woman pleading and them arrogantly standing there saying "the police will move us soon anyway" 😡😡😡

Is there not something they can do under the new laws around protesting?

(Namechanged because I reckon this will probably link to my account somehow, not that I post anything on there, but I do rant about people on here sometimes 😂)

That poor poor woman, the anguish in her voice really brought me go tears too.
There is another video where the drivers take matters into their own hands to let an ambulance through. I just felt such relief seeing those activists being dragged off the road.
There need to be prosecutions in cases where they are willfully stopping emergency vehicles/ emergencies from getting through

Sh05 · 04/10/2021 19:31

If they were serious about being heard by the politicians, I wonder why they didn't target the conference yesterday in Manchester. Alot of Tories there yesterday, they could have blockaded the roads leading in towards the conference halls.
That would have really put the police in a pickle. Take your time pleading with them, gently applying stuff to get the glue off or just dragging them out of the way because the governing party need to get somewhere.

Unsure33 · 04/10/2021 19:34

Their argument is that they have made us talk about the cause… NO it has not , we are only talking about how selfish and stupid they are .

We have a long tradition of freedom of speech and peaceful protest in this country. And idiots like this could actually threaten that because now there will be no choice but to rush through new laws to deal with them .

Absolutely the low of the low.

neededafart · 04/10/2021 19:36

@BlackberrySky

If one of them steps out in front of me on the M25 I won't be stopping.
Agreed

Good point about the conference.

Anyone would think that Insulate Britain don't really care about the environment and simply want to cause people distress.

Tealightsandd · 04/10/2021 19:38

There's something psychopathic about their behaviour. The total lack of empathy.

I was saying on another thread. Why don't they do something constructive? Like going round to people's homes or paying professionals to insulate them.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 04/10/2021 19:39

If they're all thick as the guy that stormed off GMB then they've no hope.

starpatch · 04/10/2021 19:40

I don't think the protestors are awful. We are on the brink of out of control catastrophic climate change. Our children or grandchildren are likely to die due to climate change rather than old age. That is what is awful.

A bit evangelical... reminds me of the street preachers near my office who know ‘the truth’ and condescendingly (and with an evil grin) tell you that you are going to hell.
WomanIsTaken · 04/10/2021 19:42

Years, excuse me?
I'm seeing an analogy. I'm not hysterical. I am informed by the same science which currently sees the vast majority of geologists, meteorologists, oceanographers and climatologists agreeing that global heating is a man made phenomenon and occurring in a time frame previously unseen. So not unreasonable.
But you? Can't tell whether you are being humorous or just rude.

Snookie00 · 04/10/2021 19:42

Regardless of their cause, they certainly aren’t winning much support for their cause with their antics. Their spokesman sounds like a psychopath and the public seem to be utterly fed up with it. They won’t meet their objectives this way which makes me question whether they are just anarchists and don’t actually care about climate change.

ducksalive · 04/10/2021 19:43

Not moving for an ambulance is awful.

I can't imagine one of the hundreds of people with disrupted travel sitting there thinking
" oh yes I really should insulate my loft"
If anything it's going to put people of insulating anything for life.

You don't think its awful to have a woman literally begging to get to her mum in hospital and they are just shrugging and telling her the police will move them soon?

If that was you trying to get to your ill loved one would you think "well they have a point" and sit there happily waiting for them to shift.

They are inhumane.

I think we've stumbled upon one of the protestors!! ^
RaskolnikovsGarret · 04/10/2021 19:52

I cannot believe this if it’s true.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10056407/Now-eco-mob-block-Blackwall-Tunnel-Insulate-Britain-launch-ELEVENTH-day-protests.html

Would they really not make room for an ambulance to pass? Horrific.

Climate change is awful but would they want their family to die because of it??

KittenMama · 04/10/2021 19:53

God, my mum was ferried across London in an ambulance whilst they thought she was stable and died as soon as they got in the hospital. I was stuck in traffic when I got there she'd passed away.

I often imagine if she'd be here today if they had taken her somewhere local and whether I'd have got there in time to say my goodbyes or tell her I loved her.

I cannot imagine the upset and fury of this woman. She did so well to restrain herself. They should be held accountable for every instance of delay to emergency services. It's an appalling crime.

Read the room... People have suffered massively at their hands, as PP's have said, why don't they target the conference in Manchester? Or blockade MPs roads? Sympathy is wearing incredibly thin, the message has been lost and someone will get seriously hurt. If it's a protester I doubt many people will give a flying fuck.
endofagain · 04/10/2021 19:57

Why couldn't they volunteer to insulate some homes?

I come from a family of dedicated volunteers, from first aiders to food banks, refugee camps, disaster areas, toddler groups and youth groups, cancer support centres. We have done them all.

There are better ways to get your message across than stopping people getting to hospital.

merrymouse · 04/10/2021 19:57

For all I know they could be selling double glazing.

FourTeaFallOut · 04/10/2021 20:01

Ooohh, imagine how much media attention they'll get when they kill someone, that will really spread the message...Hmm

TheSpottedZebra · 04/10/2021 20:04

I know one of them, a spokesperson but not Liam. Used to be a good friend of my sister but more acquaintances now.

It's all so odd, she's only very recently got involved in eco things, infact she was so anti this way that she has spent decades mocking me for merely being vegetarian. Previous to this, she was very much a zealot about fibromyalgia (or something similar, I forget). But this involvement has really come out of the blue.

Autumngoldleaf · 04/10/2021 20:04

Absolutely Vile.

Utterly Vile that poor poor woman!!
Imagine how many more are caught in that.

That poor poor lady. 😢😢Sad

Unfortunately utter moronic thugs attach themselves to this stuff and it's goes haywire.

I'm beyond disgusted I really am. The police are supposed to keep us safe and preserve life.

TheSpottedZebra · 04/10/2021 20:06

Really sorry to hear that, KittenMama. That must have been awful for you.

MargotMoon · 04/10/2021 20:11

The right to protest is an absolutely essential part of a democracy but what is the fucking point of disrupting people who aren't able to bring about the change they want to see?

You can bet your boots if they laid down in front of a Tory minister's car they police would shift them like a shot. And this govt already want to tighten the law so that peaceful protesting will be illegal, so these twats could help erode our civil
liberties.

Comparing themselves to the Suffragettes is an insult; yes they engaged in acts of disobedience but they were usually aimed at damaging the property of the landed gentry who made laws and decisions.
