The sheep are causing chaos

All petrol stations near me now out of diesel

Hope you’re all looking forward to homeschooling again with your full to them being tanks of diesel cars on the drive. How many people really needed a full tank ?

I just despair of how pathetic this country is

I agree with you, OP. A lot of people will have taken more than they actually need. And that is what compounds any shortage.

Since I have everything in walking distance I decided not to add to the problem by clogging the road queues even more.

Anon778833 · 26/09/2021 10:38

I dont care if our reasons get your seal of approval, but save the anger for the twats filling up endless jerry cans. They're the ones who cause this as they bought more than they would do otherwise (or maybe they have a huge lawn to mow )

Yes, this is the point isn't it. Nobody is angry with people who need petrol for work or whatever but there are some a holes who have to take take take. More than they need.

Redlocks28 · 26/09/2021 10:43

If you're a key worker, you get priority

At petrol stations?

I drove to several petrol stations yesterday-all had run out-it made no difference that I was a key worker; there was none.

Not quite sure how I’m going to get to work tomorrow-but, hoping some taxi firms will have some left or my Y1 class will have no teacher!

LiveatCityHall · 26/09/2021 10:45

@Derrymum123

Maybe they need to get to work too? Probably end up with key workers being prioritized if it isn't sorted soon.
Thats already happened in our town. Quite right too in my opinion.
Anon778833 · 26/09/2021 10:46

There are literally quite a few people who would fill up 10 Jerry cans even if they knew they were depriving an ambulance.

LiveatCityHall · 26/09/2021 10:50

I should clarify that ambulances were prioritised at the pumps.

@FortunesFavour

Yes yes OP, everyone else is a selfish idiot whereas you are morally righteous. Perhaps get it printed on a t-shirt to properly trumpet your disapproval?…’piss off sheep, respect my superiority’.
😂

This is the issue If people were sticking to their usual requirements it would not be this scenario

As an aside, I might not agree with your post OP, but I heartily approve of your username….aah I wish I had such cheekbones!

Explosivefarts · 26/09/2021 11:28

I’m an unpaid carer just as important as key workers

bunnytheegghunter · 26/09/2021 12:55

The thing is no one stopped to think what would happen if they all went and filled up! Even a lot of service stations are out of fuel now so how to the hgv drivers delivering all the other goods get fuel?

tigger1001 · 26/09/2021 15:58

I got fuel today. Just enough for the week. But no queues, didn't even need to wait for the pump. Was the same at the other fuel
Station I drove past.

The guy at the petrol station said it was mental Friday a bit better yesterday and steady but no queues today. No issues with them getting deliveries.

RagzReturnsRebooted · 26/09/2021 18:47

Drove past one station totally empty (BP) and one that had petrol but not diesel and had some queueing but not horrendous. They had increased their prices by 10p a litre though, which I thought was rather out of order.

@JesusInTheCabbageVan I'm really looking forward to sharknado week 🦈

How big is a tank that takes £120 of fuel? Unless its an actual tank...
(Our LR Discovery costs £60 to fully fill)

I'm pretty sure my golf costs more than £60 to fill with diesel (i usually only put £30-40 in at a time as I don't do a lot of driving)
I've people put £80-100 of fuel in their cars (if they are next to, or the sale in front of mine) at the garage. I generally don't notice what cars they have but they aren't tanks!

Im impressed at a discovery costing £60.00 to fill! Mine takes £80 to fill and its a hatchback Shock

Me too! I'm quite sceptical incredulous at that!

SmileyClare · 26/09/2021 20:00

My neighbour is kindly driving me to a petrol station tomorrow so I can hopefully fill up a Jerry can for my car. It doesn't have enough fuel to get there after trying several petrol stations today without luck.

So I'm expecting to be glared at and will probably have my picture all over the media with the caption "Jerry can idiot".

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/09/2021 20:13

I thought it was a farming thread too. Oh well.

I doubt it. I'm kind of in the same position but I'm going to leave getting petrol til later. I don't need it as much as most people so I'll wait. You won't be shamed under your circumstances.

I have heard about people filling 10 Jerry cans as well as their cars. Now that is selfish.

Damnloginpopup · 29/09/2021 06:41

I'm off on a 300 mile round trip (taking the shortest route) to take my daughter to university halls on Saturday. I filled my campervan on day two (was on 1/3) had to use the E5 as it won't take the new unleaded. £1.56 a litre. At best it'll leave me 50 miles in the tank when I get home, a little over two gallons. At worst I won't get back. There are so many families who are having to take their kids to university around now with all their gear for the new year. At least I can park up and sleep in it and wait. I'm off until Wednesday...

@Difford

I'm a bit disappointed that this thread isn't about actual sheep causing chaos tbh. Clicked on it thinking there was some sort of farmaggedon going on.
Sheep do often cause chaos but not because they're stupid. They are actually wily and difficult to handle at times. I'm here to defend the good name of sheep. Grin
ofwarren · 29/09/2021 07:16

I too am disappointed this was not about actual sheep!
I wouldn't have clicked on it if I knew it was about petrol stations 🙈

goldie27 · 29/09/2021 07:42

There never was a shortage. The great British vultures have created a shortage all by themselves 😌
Thank you to the media for starting this.

Me too. Sad to see it’s just another human bashing thread.
Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 29/09/2021 08:04

"My reasons for queueing for petrol are legitimate but everyone else is a sheep". This attitude is all over our local FB pages and it's really nasty. The way people turn on one another is horrible to see. But, hey, at least it takes the heat off the Government who will try make out that they're the heroes by fixing a problem of their own creation.
