@Alk19 have you managed to get your backpay yet? I got same letters as you nearly 3 weeks ago but still nothing yet. Going to ring again this morning, probably be told another different story

plumpudisnice · 18/11/2021 09:25

@Luckers1102

Hello, hope you don't mind me joining, these Mumsnet threads have helped me so much with this DLA claim ao I want to do the same for other mums 😊

So little background story:

I have sent my new claim form off yesterday for my little boy (6)
He has an EHCP in place so I sent that as evidence.. I didn't want to send the Ed Psych report and other ones as they contain personal information about me too, which I didn't really want to share with the DWP.. He has been diagnosed with Autism but I'm still waiting for an official report/letter stating this. He's been put forward for ADHD assessment but I'm waiting for that to happen yet.

I am hoping the EHCP will be enough evidence (it's 24 pages long so I bloody hope so 😂).
Could anyone confirm/deny this at all please?

Will keep you all posted with updates ☺️

Hi @Luckers1102 the EHCP is a good form of evidence as it will outline the difficulties DC has and the support put in place at school. Sending the Ed Psch report would also help. Could you not blank the information about yourself with a black marker and send a covering letter explaining that you've redacted the personal information in the report about yourself.
Luckers1102 · 18/11/2021 09:32

@plumpudisnice hi thanks for the reply ☺️ I did think of crossing it out however I didn't think of the covering letter to explain why 😂 So thank you for recommending that, I will do this should they ask for more evidence. Waiting for the diagnosis report too so I'll send a copy of that as soon as I get it. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 x

Alk19 · 18/11/2021 09:35

@Nic247 I've had no back pay from universal credit yet they just sent me a message saying they'll adjust my payments and send it for approval x

Nic247 · 18/11/2021 09:50

@Alk19 yeah, iv spoken to them this morning but was basically just told there's nothing an advisor can do other then request the case manager to contact me. Last week they said it was being calculated, Tues gone they said it just needs sent and now today they said oh these things take time on you only contacted Tuesday about it! I told him this was requested back in September so he said he'll put in another request for case manager to contact me. I don't see why decision makers accepting it wasn't enough.

Alk19 · 18/11/2021 09:53

@Nic247 yeah they normally only take a week at most all the case manager has to do is approve it as it calculates automatically there a joke when it comes to owing money x

Nic247 · 18/11/2021 10:03

@Alk19 that's what I said to him, he just said oh I know its frustrating but there really isn't anything I can do

Hannm123 · 18/11/2021 11:58

Hi ..if this helps anyone ..I was waiting for Uc backpay for 3 weeks had it escalated once and then told them I was distressed at the situation and This is causing me anxiety and that I was struggling with children ..I got a message on my journal the same day to say a decision has been made to allow the backpay then the following day got a message to say the calculations has to be approved then the day after that they messaged to say how much I would get then literally an hour later it was in my bank ..sometimes you just have to say it how it is let them know that you are relying on that money and your desperate xx

Mummy2boys1520 · 18/11/2021 12:12

Hi all my son was awarded hrc and lrm but the specialist school he goes to thinks he should be award the mobility because I am struggling with getting him to school because of his melt down. They have done me a supporting letter but does anyone know how I go about getting this re looked at

Jneill2021 · 18/11/2021 12:29

@Mummy2boys1520 How long ago was you rewarded if it is within the Mr time frame you can do a Mr if not will be a change of circumstances you will have to fill in the mobility part of the form again x

Mummy2boys1520 · 18/11/2021 12:42

@Jneill2021 hi, he was awarded it back in June I've just got of the phone with dwp and explain to them that his getting worse to the point his hitting and lashing out at anyone near him and she said they will send me a letter for a change of circumstance and to fill it in with the change and also any supporting letters from school. And they will look at it but said it could take up to 12 weeks

Jneill2021 · 18/11/2021 13:23

@Mummy2boys1520 my little boys exactly the same he's only 3 4 in April it's such a hard thing to deal with xx

Jneill2021 · 18/11/2021 13:31

@CloMo1995 have you heard anything yet ? Xx

Alk19 · 18/11/2021 13:36

@Hannm123 I was waiting for over 12 weeks got awarded Tuesday no payments have been calculated/approved yet x

plumpudisnice · 18/11/2021 13:36

@Luckers1102 from experience dealing with DLA they won't ask you to provide further evidence. The onus is on the claimant to send the evidence in. I'd just send the Ed psych report in with the bits you want blanked out and the covering letter. The more evidence that DLA have that DC needs are above other children without a disability/health issues, the harder it is for them to refuse the benefit.

Mummy2boys1520 · 18/11/2021 13:46

@Jneill2021 it horrible my little one is 6 and his gotten worse with age but nobody seems to want to help I'm still waiting for official diagnosis and we've been on the waiting list now for a year it's ridiculous I can't believe how long it is taking

Jneill2021 · 18/11/2021 13:53

@Mummy2boys1520 don't think some people understand how hard it is to deal with, and how distressed the child can get, I was quite lucky I had an appointment around 6 months after gp referral and my son was diagnosed at 1st appointment luckily because 1 of the top peaditrician was on had or we would of had to wait 2 years for a diagnosis x

Jneill2021 · 18/11/2021 14:01

Anyone no how long it was before there claim got allocated to a decision maker ? As I just called and hasn't been assigned to anyone yet at nearly 8 weeks x

Mummy2boys1520 · 18/11/2021 14:02

@Jneill2021 we was told when he was 2 they thought he had it but they wouldn't diagnose him till 6, so we finally was on the list but it's taking forever. see I was surprised when I was awarded the hrc for him didn't think we would get it because of him having no diagnosis but I literally sent everything for him. Now I've just got a try and see if we can get the hrm because I can't he's a nightmare and it's more the safety of other people and him because he don't care. But I've heard it impossible to get hmr with out having a physical disability.

CloMo1995 · 18/11/2021 14:08

@Jneill2021 no nothing, there must be a decision by now but I'm scared to ring cus I think it's been turned down, I'll just be gutted for my boy x

Luckers1102 · 18/11/2021 14:09

@plumpudisnice thank you so much for your help! I will be doing this. I don't want it to get lost so I might wait for the letter stating they have received my forms.. will they give me a reference number for the claim on that letter do you know? As that way I can stick it on the report in the hope it doesn't get lost x

Jneill2021 · 18/11/2021 14:10

@Mummy2boys1520 Really hope you get awared it I'm hoping to as like I said my sons the same the refuses to walk to the point of full blown meltdown causing him to physically be sick any where , I can't go out without a stroller as its just to much now he's meltdown triggers he's sister to have a meltdown and it's just so hard as he can't deal with the noises and busy Ness of public transport to its either walking or cabs every where it is really draining, really hope they up yours to hrm as ino how hard it is x

Jneill2021 · 18/11/2021 14:13

@CloMo1995 maybe ring them around 4 when they are far off from closing for the day, hope your little one gets awarded, ino it's just the thought of them saying no makes you anxious, there reward letters don't come till around 2 weeks later so it is better phoning, fingers crossed for you xx

plumpudisnice · 18/11/2021 14:45

You can use you're name, address and National insurance number as well as your DC name and date of births as reference and they will be able to link it up to the claim that way. I wouldn't wait for their letter confirming they've received it. As others have said it's taking weeks for them to send that letter and the more evidence there is at the point it's allocated to a case manager the quicker a decision can be made

SBParker99 · 18/11/2021 16:43

@Hannm123 how long from declaring the changes to you getting the backpay overall?
