@DeludedWench I'm so sorry to hear about your son, my heart goes out. Its difficult to deal with a sick child and then to top it off the nuisance called DLA just adds to the pressure we're under. Do you live far from GOSH? My daughter is under bham children's hospital, even though Heartlands is closer they don't have a paediatric rheumatology clinic. Very much hoping it'll be sorted before Xmas. Xx

@DeludedWench

I called today and the lady informed me that it is taking up to 10weeks for new claims.

I hope this helps. It puts a timescale on things.

Just caught up and I'm sorry to read everyone's struggles.

I can understand the many hospital appointments in many places. As stated above, our son has SA (missing the bottom of his spine, causes leg "deformities"), kidney, bladder and bowel issues (linked to his SA). We are under three specialist at GOSH, they never book to see him on the same day lol. And he sees another two specialist for his legs and viable tissue at RNOH, they never book the same day. He also goes to our local hospital for some tests, and they are always running late.

Driving to them alone is exhausting, but hospitals seem to siphon your every being from you too. So I definitely understand and emphasise with you all, and I hope DLA get sorting some claims so it can give some relief, before Christmas.

@Blabbermouth93 my heart hurts for you. My goodness all 4! Babes how do yo cope? I'm struggling mentally atm. Recovering from covid and it's played havoc on my IBS/health anxiety. Do you have a support network around you? How old is your youngest. I know someone who applied mid 2021 and they was awarded in 4 weeks. DLA and their timescales are shocking. Thank you. Same goes to you to.. xx

@Blabbermouth93
I'm sorry to hear that. I was working full time with my 3 children eldest at the time was in mainstream secondary struggling with Adhd and Autism, constantly getting called in, it was so hard I had to take VR. I now have 5 children eldest is 19 and still struggles Pip is another story(vile people) but my baby spent 4 weeks in hospital very ill and finally got diagnosed with Systemic Juvenile idiopathic Arthritis awful auto immune disease. So back and forth to hospital is bloody big expense. They just don't understand this drawn out long process wreaks havoc on people's stress and Anxiety. Hugs to you.

Applied for one at this moment as it is draining process to go through however because I’m a single parent and just had to give my job up as all 4 are under consultants so here there and everywhere universal credit have now told me to make sure I apply for them all just can’t come quick enough never been unemployed in my life and with Christmas coming up I’m stressing so much 😑

@Jneill2021 yes i have had trouble, apparently they're having technically difficulty try back after an hour.. still no luck since 9am. Trying my luck tbh as our claim on its 6th week. Fortnightly hospital visits 12 mile round trips and the parking costs are astronomical, especially with the cost of everything rising.

Hello ladies.

This is my first ever post, bought here by Google, in my stressful time waiting to hear about our Sons DLA decision.

He has Sacral Agenesis (missing the bottom of his spine, he is built differently waist down, inside and out), multi-cystic dysplastic kidney (only has one kidney now), neuropathic bladder and other smaller problems connected to each issue.

He cannot walk without his medical walker and is being fitted for a wheelchair. On this basis we hope for HRM and to get into the Motability Scheme.

As for care, we are hoping for at least MRC. He has to be assisted when dressing, due to balance (he has legs deformities and his legs are shorter than average). Also has balance issues when bathing and has to be kept dry throughout the night as his bladder issues lead to skin infections below.

Our claim was recieved on the 29th September. So we are anxiously waiting.

My question is, which may have been explained previously, (sorry, I am slowly catching up but currently have COVID so am really dopey right now lol) if successful with the claim, when declaring it to UC, would I put the date in which they recieved our claim, or the date in which I hear the decision on the claim?

Thank you if you made it this far,

DW x
