Tell me about something you've bought that you dont think you can live without now. Something that isn't essential to your everyday life, doesn't have to be luxury but just something that's made a difference to your life.

I recently got a small handheld vaccum as my main wasn't working so I got a cheap one till I could research on a good one anyway its really helped with back problems as I'm not having to lug it up the stairs.
Also I had a bit extra this month so wanted to get something practical to make life that little bit easier, any suggestions?

Alexa. I feel like a bit of a loser saying that, but I love the shopping list thing and playing music/podcasts/radio on it. The kids adore it.

Refectocil eyebrow/eyelash tint. Saves going to the beautician and means I actually keep up with it, as I would often not have time for beautician appointments and then not bother plucking either.

Essie gel couture polish. Similar to the above. Nails still not perfect but a lot better.

I was getting blisters on my hands whilst using crutches so bought some ten quid cycling gloves. They helped with the chafing.

A heat/cold pad from Amazon to warm up my injury and cool it down. It goes in a pouch with some extra long elastic so you can secure it with velcro even around ankles and elbows.

Heated throw - and no cancer scare stories will stop me.

Our lovely cat - she was actually free from a family whose little boy was terrorising her. I gifted them vouchers to buy him some new toys, but in retrospect should have gifted them a lot more because she is such a joy.

A bit less interesting, but a grey boyfriend style alpaca cardigan from Arket. I bought it on Depop and actually don’t like the length on me, but it is the perfect cosy cardigan for wearing round the house while WFH or over pyjamas.

Spider hoover. Best thing I ever got!

@ProfileInsteadOf

A moisture meter for my houseplants. Cost me a fiver so I've bought two more - one for upstairs and one for work. In have recently got into houseplants but killed a few at the start by over- watering. This takes the guesswork out by telling me Dry/Moist/Wet. Feel more confident now and more plants are thriving.

Interesting, I've managed to kill a cactus, a snake plant and an aloe vera. Will look into it 👍

Electric blanket

Gritin USB cables x 3 different lengths. Super strong and durable. Need another 3 but annoyingly they've gone up in price.

(Use camelcamelcamel.co.uk to track Amazon prices. Amazing at Christmas to get decent deals)

@Ninkanink

Ohhh I like idea of the washable duvet! Is it patterned or coloured? Can it be washed in a normal size washing machine and on at least 40°?
Most seem to be plain, but I have seen some patterned . Mine says wash at 40 but I have washed it at 60 and it was fine! I have a 8kg washing machine, I think.

Good Grips vegetable peeler - I bought the Y shaped one after my straight one eventually broke after daily use for ten years, but ended up buying another straight one. Less than a tenner and absolutely revolutionary.

My kindle (have since upgraded to the super fancy top of the range one though)
My nespresso vertuo coffee machine. Used every day and saves me and my husband a fortune on takeaway coffee.
All 4 of my beautiful cats (technically not paid for but “donated”)
Neom automatic diffuser thing
Air purifier

Thanks @SingingWaffleDoggy
The baking tins are Le Creuset

This little dude. Absolute chaos but so loving too.
£95 adoption fee (from the RSPCA), which covered neutering, 1st vaccine, vet check, flea & worm treatment, & due to Covid restrictions at the time they even delivered him to our door (we'd been homechecked already).

@Thewiseoneincognito

Can you attach a link to this Aha Bha stuff please, as I'm typing it into Amazon and hundreds of things are coming up at a myriad of prices?

herecomesthsun · 05/09/2021 23:03

Birth certificates x 2. Our lives were never the same again ...

mineofuselessinformation · 05/09/2021 23:04

A TENS machine. It allowed me to live my life relatively pain-free. I've just ordered another one to keep at work so I don't have to remember to take it with me.

wheresmyshoe · 05/09/2021 23:04

As mentioned before 3m phone charging cable, even better is that doesn't split like standard iPhone ones.

TurquoiseBaubles · 05/09/2021 23:05

Does anyone have a recommendation for a heated throw? They seem to vary so much in price. I'd like a sherpa fleece one (to share with the dog) Grin

ShuddaBeenMe · 05/09/2021 23:07

Can anyone recommend a rice cooker?

Glowlamp · 05/09/2021 23:07

Microwave rice cooker. About £6 and works perfectly. Not cooked rice on hob for years!
Pill box for vitamins 79p and now I remember to take them!

Nat6999 · 05/09/2021 23:08

My halogen oven, cooks everything so well. I'm due for a new one soon, I never use my proper oven.

SecretKeeper1 · 05/09/2021 23:10

Tefal Toast & Egg machine. Healthy breakfast done in 3 minutes.

Or my cat.
