Tell me about something you've bought that you dont think you can live without now. Something that isn't essential to your everyday life, doesn't have to be luxury but just something that's made a difference to your life.

I recently got a small handheld vaccum as my main wasn't working so I got a cheap one till I could research on a good one anyway its really helped with back problems as I'm not having to lug it up the stairs.
Also I had a bit extra this month so wanted to get something practical to make life that little bit easier, any suggestions?

I second The Ordinary AHA BHA Peeling face mask too. Best £6 you’ll ever spend. EVER. Literally turns back time.

Nespresso coffee machine, even though I hate the pseudo luxury wankery in their ‘boutiques’ like queueing to buy coffee pods, and they take your name 🤣 makes great coffee though.

Hand held clothes steamer, perfect for chiffon and silks

I bought a metal tin for laundry powder with a scoop that hangs on the side. It sounds stupid but just not having the mess you get when pouring the washing powder out of the box makes me happy. Or that annoying thing when the powder box is under the sink and the bottom gets wet and so the last bit of powder clumps together. Plus it looks good.

It's a luxury but it's genuinely improved my life, as sad as that is Grin

@PegasusReturns

Posted about this on S&B but a springy things for removing facial hair.

I used to go to the salon for a top lip wax and would always have something else done because otherwise it seems like a waste of effort so would spend 2 hours and £100 every few weeks. Now I do it at my desk and save the time.

Springy thing ? Tell us more !

A moisture meter for my houseplants. Cost me a fiver so I've bought two more - one for upstairs and one for work. In have recently got into houseplants but killed a few at the start by over- watering. This takes the guesswork out by telling me Dry/Moist/Wet. Feel more confident now and more plants are thriving.

My white company electric diffuser. I love it!

Sorrynotsorry2 · 05/09/2021 22:20

Meat thermometer cost me £16 . Use it several times a week .

beigebrownblue · 05/09/2021 22:20

My gas an electricity bill.

Means that we are not freezing in winter.

Means that our washing machine still functions.

clean clothes,

Also rent payments.

We are not homeless like so many others.

Guess that would be the 100 pounds odd that changed our lives.

Popsockets. They stick on the back of your phone so you can hold it better/ prop it up. Can't live without mine!

@MyPatronusIsACat

White noise/ambient sounds sleep pod.

Cuts EVERYTHING out. Can't hear a thing from neighbours or outside (neighbourhood sounds, and wildlife etc.) ALL blocked out. Absolutely amazing.

Also Alexa. Can't live without her now! Got the amazon music thing with 50 million songs, and I can play what I want when I want, and ask for ANY radio station, and it's there within 3 seconds.

Could you please share me the white noise pod link? I live on a busy road and would love to be able to block all that noise. Thanks :)

Oh yes! Mooncup (Lunette). Got my first one about 12 years ago - total period game changer.
FuckYouCorona · 05/09/2021 22:24

My cat.

AzureTwist · 05/09/2021 22:24

My contigo travel mug. Can even put it in my handbag as it doesn’t leak. Great when breastfeeding my little one who falls asleep on me, as my drink is still hot whilst I cuddle!

My chilly bottle for keeping things cold in the summer - put ice pops in it to take to the park even!

Staffroomdoughnut · 05/09/2021 22:24

Internet radio - can get all stations by genre and podcasts easily.

Benjispruce5 · 05/09/2021 22:26

@AudreyTattoo I have that and love it. Think it was just over £100 a couple of years ago. Maybe £125 but worth it.
My Peter Storm walking boots- daily dog walks are a breeze, and were great up Snowdon too.

ILoveAnOwl · 05/09/2021 22:26

@PegasusReturns how much does this thing hurt? I feel like I need it in my life, but it looks like it's going to hurt.

leavesthataregreen · 05/09/2021 22:26

@Elpheba

Ember mug. Never knew I needed one until I got one for my birthday. No more half drunk cups of tea!
I saw your post and thought what a brilliant idea... until I saw the price. Wow. I'm happy to just stick things back in the microwave, I think.
Benjispruce5 · 05/09/2021 22:28

How could I forget? My rescue dog. £100 incl neuter op, jabs and microchip. We love her!

SingingWaffleDoggy · 05/09/2021 22:28

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie firstly, I love your username. The films did not do this wonderful man justice.
Secondly, what baking trays do you have? I feel like we are forever replacing ours

Other suggestions cover mine. Slow cooker. Electric blanket- I tried to find any credible studies about the use of these when I was pregnant as it really helped my back pain but couldn’t find anything conclusive (I’m more worried about the fact I keep falling asleep with my phone by my head but I digress). 3m charging cable. Bluetooth speaker

Oh god yes! Menstrual cup. Absolutely love it and wish I'd known about them years ago.

Benjispruce5 · 05/09/2021 22:29

@ILoveAnOwl they are painful and eye watering on the top lip but you get used to it . I have to have wine first!

NotThatSocial · 05/09/2021 22:29

This hairbrush from Avon for the princely sum of £6. It's the only brush that has ever gone through my hair without yanking loads out and making me want to scream.
