Would you judge someone for having cubic zerconia stones

We have been married for over 40 years.
My original engagement and wedding rings are getting to tight.
DH wants to buy me a new set.
But the prices are very expensive for us pensioners. I have seen a lovely set in 9ct gold which has cz and not diamonds
Would you think Cheap if you saw them.
Or should I just get one diamond band even though I love wearing a solitaire

I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference !!

averylongtimeago · 05/09/2021 16:37

If you don't tell, who is going to know?

PurpleDaisies · 05/09/2021 16:37

I wouldn’t know.

I wouldn't be able to tell the difference, even if I could I would never judge someone by their jewellery. Get what you like. You are the person wearing it.

Indigomint · 05/09/2021 16:38

I think most people would have no idea what stone you're wearing! Engagement rings are a really very expensive trinket that doesn't hold it's value at all. Buy whatever you please op.

Changechangychange · 05/09/2021 16:38

Why don’t you just get the rings resized? Way cheaper, and you get to keep the existing diamonds.

OwlBasket · 05/09/2021 16:38

Of course you won’t be judgedConfused

Have you had your current rings looked at by a jeweller for resizing? It’s usually possible.

LtGreggs · 05/09/2021 16:38

I doubt I'd tell the difference? But could you not have your existing ring reset - a local jeweller might be able to expand or combine them?

JuniperBeer · 05/09/2021 16:39

Probably wouldn’t know the difference viewing on its own.
Have you thought about getting your existing stones reset into a new band or getting your band resized?

grapewine · 05/09/2021 16:39

If people judge you for cz they're idiots. We're not all made of money.

40 years is impressive by any measure and not down to the kind of ring you wear.

Owlshouse · 05/09/2021 16:39

I wouldn't even notice to be honest. If it really matters to you to have a diamond could you just get the band made slightly bigger so you have the original stone?

Frequency · 05/09/2021 16:39

You're the one wearing at them and looking at them all day. What does it matter what other people think?

2020isoverthankgoodness · 05/09/2021 16:39

My original wedding and engagement rings became too tight, so I had them made bigger.

Might you consider that? The original ones have sentimental value.

WaterBottle123 · 05/09/2021 16:39

I judge ppl who buy diamonds because they are very rarely ethically produced.

ISpyCobraKai · 05/09/2021 16:39

I wouldn't even have a clue, and wouldn't judge you if I did.

Kezzie200 · 05/09/2021 16:40

Wouldn't know! Get what you love wearing

GroggyLegs · 05/09/2021 16:41

Nobody will know unless you tell them.
I have my Grandmother's engagement ring which is beautiful and a CZ.

Have you considered having your original stones reset into a new design? It wouldn't be too dear in 9ct gold I wouldn't think?

Comedycook · 05/09/2021 16:41

I wouldn't even know!

BusySittingDown · 05/09/2021 16:42

I wouldn't know the difference by looking at them and would just assume that they were diamonds, unless you happened to tell me. I'm not a jewellery person though and I guess some people would know on sight.

I wouldn't think you were cheap though, especially as they're replacements for the originals, which you still have.

Kezzie200 · 05/09/2021 16:42

Also, my Mum had my grandmothers engagement ring diamonds set in a gold clawed band to fit me. You could do that?

Cuddlypinkcat · 05/09/2021 16:43

I'd get the original rings resized. To answer your question, I wouldn't notice, let alone judge

Foxmylife · 05/09/2021 16:43

Have the originals reset

Dozer · 05/09/2021 16:44

Mum had hers re-sized. Not too costly.

As PPs say, no one else will notice!

legoriakelne · 05/09/2021 16:47

I would be more likely to be impressed that you weren't sucked in by the diamond marketing bullshit.

SoupDragon · 05/09/2021 16:49

I agree: get your original ones resized or re-set.
