Would you judge someone for having cubic zerconia stones

We have been married for over 40 years.
My original engagement and wedding rings are getting to tight.
DH wants to buy me a new set.
But the prices are very expensive for us pensioners. I have seen a lovely set in 9ct gold which has cz and not diamonds
Would you think Cheap if you saw them.
Or should I just get one diamond band even though I love wearing a solitaire

I’d say B because of the little claws on the diamonds - but that’s just a total guess. They both look gorgeous Smile

Hoorayhenryyah · 06/09/2021 17:52

Absolutely not, no one will ever tell the difference! Get them and wear them and enjoy them!

Gouldengirl9 · 06/09/2021 18:41

Dh went and purchased

Quite right too!! Grin Enjoy your lovely gift from your husband, they look gorgeous and really suit your hand Smile

Drbrowns · 06/09/2021 18:55

Used to work in jewellery, only an expert can tell the difference between cz and diamonds, and not even with the naked eye.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 06/09/2021 19:03

Oh those are lovely!

Isababybel · 06/09/2021 19:06

I definitely wouldn't judge! I have lots of cubic zirconia jewellery. The prettiness of diamonds without the price tag!

whatthejiggeries · 06/09/2021 19:11

No one will know

TheWordWomanIsTaken · 06/09/2021 19:13

I thought I read somewhere a few years back that CZs go cloudy?

I have a friend who is a jeweller and he says that the industry is worried about lab created diamonds - apparently very very difficult to tell from the real thing - unless of course you are rocking a 30 carat Kim Kardashian styley around Asda.

Mariell · 06/09/2021 19:16

Your rings look lovely.

maddy68 · 06/09/2021 19:18

Wow. Who would judge anyone on the ring that they wore?

I wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway I'm sure.

Anonmousse · 06/09/2021 20:42

Lab grown diamonds are impossible to tell without special machinery as they are the same chemical structure and behave exactly as natural diamonds do under heat/pressure etc
CZs cant be treated in the same way as diamonds and they can be rubbed or scratched more easily than a diamond but new in a ring on your finger, you wouldnt be able to tell.

OmgIcantbelieveshedidit · 06/09/2021 20:48

Mine is a bit sad. My ex brought me a huge pear shaped ring with a special grey diamond in -2 crts so fairly heavy and bloody hell I loved it and still do. Since my divorce I still love it but didn't feel I could wear it for it symbolised.

So I went and brought myself a huge square cut sapphire, surrounded by 'diamonds' -it's huge and chunky and I love it -it's fake. It cost I think £24.99 but I bloody love it. I wear it on my right hand. The number of people who fawn over it and ask if it is a family heirloom etc -even total strangers. I'm not embarrassed it's fake -but I don't tell people it is. I just say I brought it for me as I like it.

TheHouseILiveIn · 06/09/2021 20:54

@Mariell
Have you come back and revealed which is the Cartier ring?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 06/09/2021 21:33

Just do a reverse image search. It was B.

TwinsandTrifle · 07/09/2021 08:12

See, I think it's really obvious that the decent ring is B. Same as PP, the slight tinge making the real diamond look, well, real. Plus, the mount on A, the whole thing looks cheap.

DH and I have been looking at a ring for me for a couple of months now. I've looked at a LOT of rings/loose stones. I'd spot CZ a mile off now. Whether I could before we'd been so extensively looking, I'm not sure. However, a lot of people will be able to tell, so I guess the question is OP, are you bothered by people knowing you've got essentially a "fake diamond". No one will judge you, as you are asking in your OP. I guess it's like having a counterfeit handbag, if you love it, would you be bothered by a few people being able to spot it was a fake?

AlfonsoTheMango · 07/09/2021 08:46

Beautiful rings, OP!

TheHouseILiveIn · 07/09/2021 09:21

Just do a reverse image search. It was B.
Yay, I won Grin

Mariell · 07/09/2021 15:06

Yes it was b!

I now have an obsession googling diamond rings versus CZ ones!

There is brand called Tacuri that produce both so if you are interested in making comparisons, take a look!

Plumtree391 · 07/09/2021 16:12

As long as you are happy with the rings, that's fine. Nobody is going to investigate. I wouldn't be able to tell what was real or fake, I doubt there are many who would apart from jewellery experts.
