I actually know the owners of this house. They have spent a bloody fortune on it. It used to have lots of land but previous owners sold it off.
@Naptimenow honestly just not my taste, not that hard to understand surely. Mind my idea of heaven would be a cabin in the woods somewhere.
But then a big house like this would never be your thing - regardless of the style of decor.

userxx · 05/09/2021 21:04

Can't call those rooms cosy can you.

Don't think I'd be able to relax in such big rooms.

Marmelace · 05/09/2021 21:05

@Naptimenow yes you are probably right. That much space and level of finish would make me uncomfortable. Didn't mean any disrespect towards people who would like it in anyway, just leaves me a tad cold.

Marmelace · 05/09/2021 21:06

Though a big cabin in the woods wouldn't go amiss Smile

SprayedWithDettol · 05/09/2021 21:15

It’s a nice home, but the hot tub and some of the lighting choices are hideous.

I agree with you - that much space is too much for me too - I don't think bigger is always better but for some people it must be, cosy is sometimes undervalued until you lose it.

That’s an absolutely beautiful house, lots of character and fantastic furniture.

Travielkapelka · 05/09/2021 22:33

I don’t like it at all. The gardens are beautiful but the interior feels cold and gloomy and I imagine if smelling!

£4milliion and semi-detached! Is that a typo?

Solongtoshort · 05/09/2021 23:23

This is only one hour away from me, l think this may be my new lottery winning house. It amazing.

garlictwist · 06/09/2021 06:07

It's obviously very grand but I find it a bit...cavernous, and not very cosy.

HeronLanyon · 06/09/2021 06:13

napti Shaw House (or Grange?) is quite something. BUT even though it has good land I’d be a bit disappointed by the huge new build developments directly opposite on the Bath road. I would definitely want those two fields in front and get my solicitor to look v closely at the local plan. It’s a staggering house and those gardens ! Just think I’d want it to be deeper in protected countryside ???

HeronLanyon · 06/09/2021 06:13

fionas you found shaw house ! Ta.

LavenderAskew · 06/09/2021 09:50

How is it (Shaw House) semi-detached?

Where's the other house?!!!

Naptimenow · 06/09/2021 10:24

Don't know - it's in the particulars.
NewHouseNewMe · 06/09/2021 10:43

What is the basement about? All those rooms with no label on them. I want to know more!

I love this house and think it's done up beautifully.

HeronLanyon · 06/09/2021 10:46

By the photo of the staircase I was wishing one or two fewer grey painted inserts. Think that one around the stair mirror tipped me and I’d paint that out. Otherwise I really like it. The red rooms could maybe be rethought ? The gardens are just perfect.

Hm2020 · 06/09/2021 10:50

Beautiful

Anoisagusaris · 06/09/2021 11:01

Lovely. Except for the position of the rug in photo 7 🙈

Maireas · 06/09/2021 12:05

Shaw house - a bit too much dark grey which makes some rooms dark and gloomy.
I love that red bedroom, though! Warmth and character! The picture of all the green lanterns? I never know why estate agents do that?.

shmashing · 06/09/2021 13:41

I like it. It looks great. As for the furnishings, well you'd put your own stuff in wouldn't you

Blossomtoes · 06/09/2021 13:51

@Councilworker

Bought it for under £1million in 2017. Spent money on weird light fittings and knocked down some internal walls and painted all the wood white. www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-59074313.html

Now on the market at double the price they paid. There's definitely not been that much of an increase in the market here and definitely not £1million in "improvements"

Good detective work! The bathrooms looked way better before the “improvements”.
AviciaJones · 06/09/2021 14:55

The original windows had been replaced by pvc windows. Confused
