Fire and Ice got really nice days. Now seen all the ones I missed (photo Facebook page) pregnant woman is still my favourite. Durham was buzzing.
Hope your DS enjoyed it Someaddedsugar.
The road being closed coming down from County hall is a nightmare. Then to add the Clayport roadworks, trying to cross the road was dangerous. No safe place as no traffic lights etc.
Hope everyone who went enjoyed. I heard lots of excited children on park and ride bus.

Someaddedsugar · 27/02/2022 17:54

He loved it thanks @AlviarinAesSedai. We went in early yesterday and had breakfast at Bill's, went to the library and then looked at the sculptures. It was nice to see Durham so busy and with lots of excited children like you say.

It's been a lovely few days for the weather hasn't it. I hope it stays like this for a bit. It feels like spring is here!

The roadworks are awful. It took me 45 minutes to get from the Sniperley roundabout to North Road last Thursday when it usually takes max 15. I wonder how long they'll be there for.

Love Bill’s, food is really nice.
I’m sure I read something like 10 weeks for roadworks. They are replacing the gas pipes to plastic and future proofing them.

PickAChew · 27/02/2022 23:39

2 weeks, allegedly, for the worst of the road works.

PickAChew · 27/02/2022 23:40

The gas pipe replacement has been ongoing for a while. They did us before Christmas and we lost gas for a few hours. Nice day, thankfully.

PickAChew · 28/02/2022 08:23

Oh gawd, the queues are past our house, as far as we can see 😭

Someaddedsugar · 28/02/2022 08:32

@PickAChew it's chaos today. It's backed up in all directions as the roundabout at County Hall has just become standstill. I hope it's only this week that they need to have that bit of road closed!

Some very disgruntled looking school kids being chucked out of cars and told they have to walk!

Someaddedsugar · 28/02/2022 19:42

It was even worse tonight! Chaos at 5pm!

Thankfully cleared up when dh had to go to the office, yesterday.

Florelei · 03/03/2022 17:53

Hi, I hope everyone is ok! I’m back into the office 3 days a week now and the car park which has been lovely and empty is now a free for all! One of the joys of lockdown was being able to get parked

I’m sad that one of our favourite restaurants in our village has just announced that it is permanently closing.

AlviarinAesSedai · 04/03/2022 08:20

That’s sad about your favourite restaurant Florelei.
Road going to Durham from county hall now one lane, so better than nothing.
Weather is back to being awful, was just starting to enjoy the ☀️, Spring needs to get sprung.

AlviarinAesSedai · 06/03/2022 17:09

I spoke to soon, today is lovely.

Florelei · 06/03/2022 18:20

@AlviarinAesSedai - it has been beautiful today hasn’t it?

Someaddedsugar · 08/03/2022 19:36

It feels so much nicer with the sun out doesn't it.

That's a shame about the restaurant @Florelei - is another restaurant moving in or will it become something else?

I've had the odd day in the office recently and our car park is still quiet. I'm sure that will change after 1st April when I think things return to 'normal' without isolation etc.

@Someaddedsugar - I don’t know yet. It was a lovely little Italian restaurant with the nicest staff. The food was lovely as well. I’m very sad about it!

AlviarinAesSedai · 11/03/2022 08:47

How lovely is the weather. Hope everyone is well.

Beeinalily · 12/03/2022 11:44

Hi, is it okay if I join you? Moved to one of the little Bishop Auckland villages last year from down south, still feel a bit alien!

AlviarinAesSedai · 12/03/2022 11:56

Welcome @Beeinalily.

Beeinalily · 12/03/2022 13:48

Thank you @AlviarinAesSedai

Florelei · 13/03/2022 18:53

Welcome @Beeinalily!

I can’t believe how quickly the weekends go! Back to work tomorrow.

On the plus side, I’m making a dint in my lockdown weight gain. I’m officially no longer obese! I know that might sound a little bit sad but I’m proud of my hard work. It’s so much easier to gain weight than it is to lose it!

I hope everyone is ok and just busy because it’s been a little bit quiet on here lately and some familiar names haven’t posted in a while.

myrtleWilson · 13/03/2022 20:33

Hello @Beeinalily - welcome and hope you're doing well!

Sorry, not been around much but have tried to keep up with reading this thread..

All good here - DD is doing well in recovery. Went up to Broomhouse yesterday -- its been so long since I've been that I had a major moment of doubt on the drive that I wasn't actually on the right road!!

Beeinalily · 17/03/2022 15:48

Thank you @Florelei and @myrtleWilson. I wonder, can anyone here recommend a seaside for a nice day out? I don't drive, so a bus to Darlington and then a train to - where? Is Saltburn nice?

AlviarinAesSedai · 17/03/2022 17:10

Saltburn is nice, but haven’t been for years(I don’t like the seaside).
Seaham and South Shields are nice, i liked South Shields because they have a lovely parkBlush and brilliant swimming pool with slide. Hopefully other people will give you better suggestions.
The train ride is a treat in itself.
The new units near Arnison will definitely be ready by Summer.
Hopefully everyone is still well and covid free. My anxiety is sky high re Ukrainian war. So avoiding news.

Gilead · 17/03/2022 18:26

Hi @Beeinalily!

@Florelei
please don’t say it’s the one at Pity Me, I love that Italian!
