Lots of branches down here but not much else reported. My fence with neighbours is even looser but they don’t seem arsed (shared).
Hope people feel better pick. There is a nasty bug going round with those symptoms.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 30/01/2022 14:05

No water today. Fun fun. Something to do with the pump at Tow Law I think. Parts of the village have lost electric again too though thankfully not us. With more storms due out isn't looking great!

Someaddedsugar · 30/01/2022 14:13

Hope everyone's feeling a bit better today @PickAChew.

And I hope your water's back on soon @OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea - have they given you a time when it'll be back on?

Hope the fence is ok @lifelongfrugaleer. Our neighbour's back fence looks very precarious this morning and it looks like their greenhouses (the plastic covered mini ones) have blown over. I'm hoping their plants have survived.

We have a fair few neighbours clearing stuff up and nailing stuff back down, today. I can see a lot more dislodged roof slates, on various houses, today, and next door has lost a load of ridge tiles. The exposed mortar is various colours so looks like it's already been bodged, on the past. Neighbour out the back is repairing their summer house. Took a walk to the shop, this morning, and noticed that the matrix road sign down the road has developed a distinct list.

DH is out of his dressing gown of doom and Ds2 is up and about (has been since4:30) but hasn't eaten anything. I didn't feel great, this morning, but coffee fixed that. Headache is beginning to creep back, though.

AlviarinAesSedai · 30/01/2022 20:23

Isn’t there another storm due tomorrow. I can’t believe how much damage the storm caused.
I’ve had a headache for a couple of days, but think mine is just stress.

PickAChew · 30/01/2022 21:40

We've got storm Corrie building uo, now. Hopefully not as bad for us as malik by so much damage has already been done that it's not going to take much to do more.

Tuesday and Thursday are both set to be very windy, too.

I've been abandoned. Ds1 has gone to his room as is his habit at 9pm on a Sunday and dh and Ds2 have both go e to bed.

PickAChew · 31/01/2022 08:40

Well DH has just tested positive so that's Ds2 home all week.

AlviarinAesSedai · 31/01/2022 14:17

Hope your DH is okay PickAChew. And you stay well.
The being trapped in the house with my family is the worst bit( I do love them).

PickAChew · 31/01/2022 17:25

It will be hardest when ds2 is feeling better but boooooored.

Someaddedsugar · 31/01/2022 17:41

Hope you're all ok @PickAChew and you manage to avoid it.

Do you need anything getting?

PickAChew · 31/01/2022 19:38

We're OK, thanks. I'm negative so ransacked the coop, today (with a fresh mask and lots of hand gel though one of the staff coughed profusely as she has a cold!) and we have an order coming on Thursday.

DH has lost his sense of taste, now.

Someaddedsugar · 01/02/2022 07:14

@PickAChew I hope his taste comes back soon! I think that's the bit I'd find the hardest!

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/02/2022 12:52

Oh blooming Covid
Fence is hanging by a thread. Very windy again today

PickAChew · 01/02/2022 14:48

So do I. It's turned him into an involuntarily ungrateful bugger!

Ds2 is getting his appetite back, anyhow. He's currently tucking in to a slice of marmite toast with a side of peanut butter toast! Pretty much all he's eaten since Saturday is the odd piece of cake.

I took advantage of still being negative, tied my hair back firmly and went for a walk, this morning.

PickAChew · 01/02/2022 14:53

Hope your fence holds. DH has got a post to re-seat when he's feeling better. He only put the fence up a year ago but the post was put in when we moved in and there is an old tree stump near it so that's probably given way.

Someaddedsugar · 04/02/2022 19:36

How's your DH and DS @PickAChew?

Hope the fence has hung on @lifelongfrugaleer!

PickAChew · 04/02/2022 20:51

They're both on the mend. I have a raging sore throat today, mind 😣 I've had to postpone a long awaited paediatrician appointment for ds2.

Someaddedsugar · 06/02/2022 19:25

How're you feeling @PickAChew?

I've just read there's snow forecast for this week and really hoping it's not true!

OP posts:
PickAChew · 07/02/2022 10:19

Well we had sleet yesterday so I can believe it!

I tested positive, yesterday. So far, I've had worse colds, but that could change.

AlviarinAesSedai · 07/02/2022 16:49

Hope you are okay PickAChew.
I saw the sleet the other day, it’s so cold, but lovely when the wind drops and the sun is shining.
Went to Durham today, made the mistake of going in Tesco during Durham sixth form lunchtime, never again it was heaving Blush

PickAChew · 07/02/2022 17:46

That store can be mad, can't it. The staff like it that way, though.

When I'm out of jail I'm going for a bus ride into Newcastle. I shall enjoy being one of the invincible ones until the next variant comes along.

AlviarinAesSedai · 10/02/2022 15:00

Hope you are okay PickAChew.
Just seen the Fire and Ice is back Friday/Saturday half term. We love it, it’s brilliant for all ages, I think.
I fancy I bus ride to Newcastle especially since masks are optional. I couldn’t cope with walking around Eldon square John Lewis/Fenwicks without being able to see.Blush. In fact I get lost in Fenwicks every time I go.

PickAChew · 10/02/2022 15:49

Fenwick's has changed so much in the past few years. I've not forgiven them for running down the haberdashery.

Someaddedsugar · 10/02/2022 21:13

How're you feeling @PickAChew?

Thanks for the heads up on fire and ice @AlviarinAesSedai - I'll have to take DS!

I have a head full of snot, this evening! And a massive cold sore inside my left nostril so my nose is bright red. Self isolation? I don't want to be seen in public!
