Always find this topic fascinatingGrin
I’ll start- I was on a documentary when my son was a baby and in hospital.
Bonus points to anyone who has links to similar threads as I can’t be the only one to ask this question?!

I wasn't on TV but as a child I had an actress portray me on a reconstruction on Crimewatch!

clartymare · 16/08/2021 20:36

I appeared very briefly in a red carpet shot on a news programme (should have been just out of shot) with a friend of mine who is famous (he invited me to a premiere). I started a diet the next day Grin

Hope your son is okay now Lemon

LemonPepperOrder · 16/08/2021 20:36

@FartleBarfle both intriguing and scary, I hope if you were a victim you are okay!

LemonPepperOrder · 16/08/2021 20:38

@clartymare oh wow! I would have had it printed all over my house! And social media’s, and keyrings, and anywhere you can put a pictureBlushGrin

@fartlebarfle yes I hope it wasn't anything you suffered/were involved in

FartleBarfle · 16/08/2021 20:39

@LemonPepperOrder

Yes I'm fine, I was an incidental character and didn't expect to be in the story! It was someone close to me that was a victim and they didn't find the perp. But everyone is alive and well now!

Inclinedtochatter · 16/08/2021 20:40

Not me but my sister was on Soapstars in 2001. It was a reality show to find a new family for Emmerdale. She got through to the final 20!

clartymare · 16/08/2021 20:41
@fartlebarfle yes I hope it wasn't anything you suffered/were involved in
There were a couple of pictures too and believe me, you wouldn't Grin
It was that situation where before I went out I thought I looked great, friend told me I looked great (the lying bastard) and then I saw the footage/pictures and well, let's just say I did not look great. Not being a seasoned pro I didn't realise that there are certain ways to do make up/certain fabrics etc not to wear.

clartymare · 16/08/2021 20:41

No idea how I managed to quote myself instead of Lemon there, I'll get my coat

ozymandiusking · 16/08/2021 20:42

I was in an advertisement for Wilsons Beer. This was back in the 1970s.
We spent nearly all day in the pub and drank what we wanted, I suppose the men were drinking Beer. We didn't live far from the pub so I could walk home. Stayed sober as I had a little one to look after. Mum was looking after them 'till I got home. It was good fun.

LemonPepperOrder · 16/08/2021 20:43

@clartymare was it a nice night though, that’s all that countsWink

I was on strike Blush and on the local news, picketing. Just a quick shot and I'm gone.

Scarby9 · 16/08/2021 20:43

Twice.
Once a speaking part as a girl guide on the local news programme. No-one saw it except my parents - not even me as it went out live before home videoing was a thing.
The second time was a fleeting, non-speaking, walk-on part over the opening credits of a national news programme. For no obvious reason, loads of people saw it, and told me they had seen me. I didn't know I would be on (although I had seen the news crew) and didn't watch.

mrsbitaly · 16/08/2021 20:44

Yes songs of praise and gus honeybun 🤣🤣

DoingItMyself · 16/08/2021 20:45

Filmed without consent and shown for years before local news bulletins. Complained. They said it was 'actors'. It wasn't. It was me.

OldTinHat · 16/08/2021 20:46

Several times in connection with a hobby I have and also as an extra last year.

Cherryana · 16/08/2021 20:47

Yes I lost on a game show.
And on mumsnet they were talking about me and one person said I was so thick.
I am not thick.
It's actually much harder that when you are sat at home - the lights, the audience its a massive adrenaline rush.

SimonJT · 16/08/2021 20:49

I was interviewed on the news as an industry expert, I am very much not an industry expert 😂 my boss said I was being interviewed about being an actuary, but failed to mention TV cameras!

sleepykits · 16/08/2021 20:49

I've done extra work for films. A couple of times I was featured in scenes quite heavily. It's a shock to see yourself that size on a cinema screen!

Tommika · 16/08/2021 20:50

My blonde head was to be spotted bobbing up and down to James sit down at I think Reading 97

I’m one of the two ‘rapelling’ into action during the opening credits of a niche hobby’s cable TV series

We supplied the equipment for the ‘man vs machine’ episode of Joel Dommets ‘How to survive a disaster movie’.
He is dressed in my gear, wears the boots borrowed from one of my guys because he turned up for filming in the woods wearing designer trainers. (They both have tiny feet)
I was sent by the director to get Joel, our ‘expert’ and cameraman when lunch turned up
They were still recording an element of the interview so I kneel down ‘off camera’, but if you watch on widescreen cuts they failed to crop me out of the corner of the screen
We filmed an extra movie myth segment, so I am one of the ‘army men shooting at a UFO’

ArabellaPilkington · 16/08/2021 20:52

I was in the TOTP audience twice - once next to Kid Jensen introducing an act. We saw Adam & the Ants, JoBoxers,Squeeze, Orange Juice amongst others. I was 15-16.

toomanyplants · 16/08/2021 20:56

I was in an advert for Smarties sweets when I was 7!
Stayed in a fancy hotel in Mayfair for 5 days, I remember having bbq chicken every night in the restaurant, filming was repetitive but fun, the older girls had roller boots and I was in awe!!
When it was on tv I had to stand up in assembly and everyone clapped, it was long before videos so I never had a copy as an adult, my mum tried the itv archives, rowntree mackintosh, every advertising group you can think of, but nothing. I found a copy a couple of weeks after she passed away, and I was like a 7 year old all over again!

delilahbucket · 16/08/2021 20:57

Yes, singing both times. Once at the start of a sports programme that was on on a Sunday afternoon 20 ish years ago, and more recently for BBC music day singing in a train station.

Hellotoallmyfans · 16/08/2021 20:57

I've NC for this is as its outing! I haven't been on tv but I have had an actress portray a character based on me. A friend of mine owns a production company and basically pinched stories I told him (back in the days of an erm...eventful early relationship with my now dh) and wrote us both into the series he was writing along with word by word conversations and also not bothering to change our names (well, he changed mine by one letter...think Molly to Holly!)

I was pissed off at the time but I got over it and find it funny now. When I confronted him (he didn't warn me!) he said "it's what writers do - where else am I supposed to get inspiration from if not my friends!" He did the same to other friends who fell out with him.

The series had some quite famous people in it but didn't get commissioned for a second series Grin!

AlexandraQueen · 16/08/2021 21:01

Quite a few times as a child, but I think my last was early ish 2000's when I was about 14.
