Always find this topic fascinatingGrin
I’ll start- I was on a documentary when my son was a baby and in hospital.
Bonus points to anyone who has links to similar threads as I can’t be the only one to ask this question?!

OP posts:
Babdoc · 16/08/2021 21:36

I was a contestant on Crackerjack in 1968!
Didn’t win, but we had fun filming it at the old Golders Green Hippodrome. Mary Hopkin sang “Those were the Days” and the Casuals sang “Jessamine”.

DuckyMcDuck · 16/08/2021 21:36

@mrsbitaly

Yes songs of praise and gus honeybun 🤣🤣
I was on with Gus Honeybun too and Craig Rich. Grin

I also used to volunteer for ChildLine and was filmed answering the phone as an opening for a news piece. They used it for the next 10 years or so, it was really weird watching the news and suddenly seeing and hearing myself.

FullyBookedUp · 16/08/2021 21:39

Yes. I was on Fully Booked(A sort of Scottish version of Live and Kicking) as an audience member when I was 11 or 12. I'm very self conscious and shy and unfortunately for me, the seat where I sat, was right next to where Sarah Vanderberg sat for much of the show so I was near constantly on camera. I looked terrified and so awkward. I enjoyed the experience in spite of it and was fascinated by how different the set looks from how it appears in TV.
I was a bit gutted though as if I'd been on the week after, I'd have met my then favourite boyband, Boyzone but I got to meet another boyband that I liked and a few other people

I went into Thorntons the week after it aired and was "recognised" by the assistant which was weird.

Hippywannabe · 16/08/2021 21:40

My son and I were on an episode of Kids eat the funniest things with James Martin. He was utterly lovely and took my son and his friend for a ride in his sports car, they were thrilled.
I was also fleetingly on the ITV breakfast news in the background during some eclipse filming.

HazelBite · 16/08/2021 21:43

I was part of a pressure group when my DT's were small, involving better access for wheelchairs and double buggies into shops etc. After I appeared in the local press I was invited to appear (plus DT's) on a tv news type programme on London weekend TV (DT's are now in their 30's) to put my case for decent easy access.
I am actually pleased to say that our local shopping centre, being built at the time took our suggestions on board, very sucessfully.

Mpsister · 16/08/2021 21:43

I've been on "It's me or the dog". Only briefly in the background

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 16/08/2021 21:43

They filmed the TV series The District Nurse at our school and lots of us children and teachers were in the first couple of series.

mizu · 16/08/2021 21:44

John Craven's Newsround when I was in primary school. Something about conservation in schools. My mum could only see me as I was wearing bright red jeans Grin

ICantFindTheBuffet · 16/08/2021 21:46

I've been behind the presenters before a few televised rugby games. And blurrily in the crowd at rugby and wrestling. I went to a recording of Britain's Got Talent years ago but didn't spot myself that time Grin

Summer20twentyone · 16/08/2021 21:47

I had my hair cut and coloured on 'The Salon' many moons ago .. There was a sex worker with massive boobs in the chair next to me ... bitch got all my airtime!! 🤣🤣

I was also next to the fence at a spectacular fall at Badminton horse trials and my shocked face was on all the news programmes that evening!

Hyacinth88 · 16/08/2021 21:48

I was in a band when I was 14 that was on a national new year's eve show.
The camera man got chatting to my dad during the all day ( in November!) filming and when he found out which one I was kept doing close ups. I was mortified but not I'm kind of proud
I was also on Xmas eve songs of praise a couple of years ago singing with a choir I'm in.
Bizarrelly about 10 years ago I popped up wandering through Westminster Abbey on a BBC news item
I had been there maybe 15 years before as a tourist.. Didn't notice filming when I was there. V weird.

AlbertBridge · 16/08/2021 21:48

Loads.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/08/2021 21:50

I've not lived my appearance on The BBC's Hospital series a couple of years ago. I could t work out how to use the height measurement thing on my ward. But didn't want to ask for someone to help me as I was being filmed. So made up a height, which I knew was wrong . BlushGrin

myrtleWilson · 16/08/2021 21:50

I was on Tiswas as a child and then as an adult have been on various news/politics shows as industry commentator

Dashdotcom · 16/08/2021 21:50

I ended up on antiques roadtrip briefly a couple of years ago !
Charles Hanson turned up at the pole dancing studio I was having a lesson at as he was filming nearby and wanted a go, so a group of us got filmed cheering him on. Very surreal hour of my life watching a middle aged man my gran loved swirling round a pole in his suit Grin

hamstersarse · 16/08/2021 21:50

Quite a bit Wink

CuddlyDudley71 · 16/08/2021 21:52

DH and I were in the 'Question Time' audience and I was sitting behind someone who asked a question...
I was also on top of some scaffold near Trafalgar Square, during the Poll Tax riots and was on the news...

chasingmytail4 · 16/08/2021 21:54

Had a makeover with Trinny on This Morning four years ago. She was great, really warm and friendly.

Hen2018 · 16/08/2021 21:55

Twice.

Once for something my (minuscule) rural primary school did.

Then a long lingering shot of me at work as part of a news report!

dottypencilcase · 16/08/2021 21:55

I was an extra on Hetty Wainthrop Investigates (BBC1) and also on the Big Breakfast (Ch4) opening up my GcSE results live on TV.

inthenameofthemother · 16/08/2021 21:56

Yes as a child I was interviewed on a child panel show.

Can't say which as very outing.

Was mortified when it was shown a few years later and I was an older teen.

I run away from all tv camera and mic's now

deste · 16/08/2021 21:56

A couple of years ago my DD GD and myself were on tv two or three times a day for about six months. We did get people coming up to us to ask if it was possible that they had seen us on Tv.

DanceToTheMusicInMyHead · 16/08/2021 21:57

I opened my A-Level results live on the lunchtime news. Had to hang around all morning nervously. Afterwards joined my friends in the pub where they had all watched on big screen. Think my mum has the video somewhere...

Winenota · 16/08/2021 21:59

Just recovering from cancer and wasn’t coping. The wonderful nurse from macmillans thought it would cheer me up to be filmed for a bit on the news about how isolated serious illness can make you feel, so a very surprised Dh walked in to find me, the kids and bright lights and cameras! Very exciting, and yes, it did cheer me up!
More recently I was lucky enough to be chosen for a kind of master chef type programme. I only made it to the first round, and let me tell you, after lockdown and seeing no one for a year, a room full of contestants and cameras was totally overwhelming. I turned into bambi and couldn’t do anything! Still cringing!

Winenota · 16/08/2021 22:02

Ha! Just remembered taking a date to the filming of some show or other and though it very odd when he went right to the furthest seat.
Yup, turns out he was married! What a way to get caught out! 😂😂😂
