At least there’s a place that will happily take her now

But there's a massive difference between poor taste and supporting the Taliban! Yep!

And I suspect his employers will not be impressed by his lack of judgement!

suzy2b · 16/08/2021 12:33

Shamima Begum? Had nothing to do with the Taliban she was with iss
@Meraas I’m not automatically offended by Muslims making jokes. I come from a Muslim country and family myself. I don’t happen to think there’s anything funny about this when, and I repeat, 12 year old girls are being taken as sex slaves. Can you point me to the humour in this situation which is so obvious to you and so hidden to me?
OP you wrote At least there’s a place that will happily take her now not him from the look of it, is that right? Because I cannot see that comment on his twitter? People are assuming here that he wrote that, but in fact you wrote that in response to his tweet?

If you wrote it, your comment is also dark edgy humour.

People use dark edgy humour to cope when they are dealing with difficult things day in day out.

If he wrote that, where did he write it?

chaosrabbitland · 16/08/2021 12:34

@AllforOnsies

Another man out to screw over an abused teenager - is anyone on her side?
only the people on here id think , look on any other social media and see the comments about her then judge for yourself how many people are on her side , its not many .shes not wanted back here and she doesnt deserve to be
Peanutsandchilli · 16/08/2021 12:35

Sickening.

PicsInRed · 16/08/2021 12:35

He wants referring to Prevent.

OhWhyNot · 16/08/2021 12:36

Where is he supporting the Taliban

Just because you do not support the ex president or western troops in Afghanistan doesn’t mean you support the Taliban

The truth is our government will not allow SB back into her home country. The Taliban would allow her as a political move

BlueLobelia · 16/08/2021 12:37

Tweet seems to have been removed now (or at least when I clicked on it it was not there).

Viviennemary · 16/08/2021 12:41

Its just very cynical. IMHO. Meaning that after all that time and effort and bloodshed its back to square one.

SueSaid · 16/08/2021 12:45

What an absolute arsehole. The SRA are aware it says online, the tweet seems to have vanished.

I am really shocked that a solicitor can get away with the insults that he's aimed at a trans person. If someone had said similar level abuse in a racial way, I'm pretty sure this guy would have taken an action against them.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 16/08/2021 12:47

He has put up a video of Thin Lizzy instead.

His twitter feed is full of 'amusing asides', it seems to be how he communicates with the wider world!

SoupDragon · 16/08/2021 12:47

Where is he supporting the Taliban

You don't think that celebrating the fact that the Taliban are back in Kabul is supporting them?

MrsBede · 16/08/2021 12:50

It seems to have gone now, but I didn't see it as supportive of the Taliban. The rest of his Tweets give the impression he is critical of the American/British handling of the whole thing but I don't see anything that implies he is pleased with the outcome or finds it funny. The Tweet was ill-advised but I don't think it was meant in the way many have taken it.

Dogoodfeelgood · 16/08/2021 12:52

If you read the rest of his tweets he is highly critical of the decision to withdraw from Afghanistan with a lot of reference to the suffering of afghanis - so in context I don’t think he is pro Taliban, it was more of a “look what you’ve done” reference, IYSWIM.

OhWhyNot · 16/08/2021 12:54

I don’t see calling a group of men with machine guns boys as being supportive or celebrating

I doubt they would be happy being called boys …

I view it as the whole situation is very fucked up

I’m guessing though he is Muslim (he is brown that’s enough for some) and well they are not allowed to make such comments without claims of supporting his kind

I thought this when I first read his tweet, but I'm not so sure now. This guy doesn't seem to be able to control himself when using twitter - I refer you to the link below. For a lawyer who's looking for and expecting respect, he sure doesn't seem able to give it!

I'm inclined to agree. Not least because Shamima Begum ran away to join ISIS which, as I understand it, the Taliban opposes.

Oh yes definitely critical of US/UK involvement. It was a glib, mocking comment. Totally inappropriate.
SofiaMichelle · 16/08/2021 13:01

I doubt they would be happy being called boys …

When are we getting a facepalm smiley @MNHQ ??

OhWhyNot · 16/08/2021 13:03

So your take is that he is supporting the boys SofiaMichelle

Have you read his other tweets ?

MsHedgehog · 16/08/2021 13:04

Where is he supporting the Taliban

Where is he celebrating the return of the Taliban?
caringcarer · 16/08/2021 13:04

On his Twitter feed he has a few unexplored comments if you go back far. Makes you wonder why her family would select this particular as solicitor for her. It would not surprise me if she did not go to Afghanistan as don't forget her DH is a Jihadi. Very sad for a women who is still young but her choices are limited due to poor early choices.

Southernbellenot · 16/08/2021 13:05

He is just clever enough to make his post ambiguous enough to cause people doubt. But considering what lies ahead for the young girls, women and LGBT community this comment was disgusting - sarcasm or not. Many many deaths are about to happen.

His comparison to the rotherham girls and Begum show where this mans head is at.
