I'll start with skinny co pornstar martini mix. Tasted incredibly sweet and synthetic. It stated use 1 part vodka to 3 parts mix. I tried that too sweet added more vodka so 50/50 just about drinkable. I drank another one with the reverse ratios, almost OK but I was so drunk I fell over and knocked the TV over.

The other downside was that it stank so much so that my empty glass had made the whole room stink.

@godmum56

Peugeot estate with a sun roof years ago. Bloody thing leaked.
So did ours!

It was a gift so it doesn't really count but I agree with my ice cream maker. Had it 15 years. Used it twice. Had it 9 years before I used it twice in one summer. Then never again. DD2 was allergic to raw egg and that's in so many ice cream recipes. Found ones without but honestly I could buy better!

BecauseMyRingBurnsSheila · 11/08/2021 22:06

I do love my little handheld G-Tech though. The short one. Great for weaning and cleaning up the kitchen/under the table. Bought the car cleaning extension pack and never opened it though 😂

Another Shark vacuum to add to the pile. The comb doesn’t stop long hair tangling up. We had to cut the hair off the roll again today (my hair is halfway down my back), the tube blocks so frequently that I keep a garden cane in the larder especially for unblocking it and the gap between the suction chamber and the dust chamber blocks constantly.
Other than that, it’s great

Stop. I'm already feeling malevolent towards it. Angry

A large air tent.
Was sold it on the promise that it’s oh so easy to put up and I wouldn’t be filing for divorce at the start of every holiday.
Lies.

It’s HUGE to transport, needs a trailer. I didn’t realise until we’d shelled half a mortgage just how big and heavy the bag is. It takes two or even three of us to lift it. It’s not easy or quick to put up - it has to be blown up by hand which takes a huge amount of force so you spend the rest of the holiday knackered. It’s not even good quality despite costing well into 4 figures. Zips have broken, constantly catch, and a patch ripped in the first fortnight and it had to be sent for repair.

Could have had a holiday abroad for the purchase price - never again.
Our small tent needs replacing. I’m looking at cheap pole tents. Every time the sales person directs me to the air tents I tell them I’m not falling for that again!

girlmama32 · 11/08/2021 22:14

Ohh I don't understand the hate for air fryers, ours gets used most night I love it!

Biggest regret was probably the cordless dyson, the battery life is shocking and needs recharged after hoovering a couple of rooms.
Also bought a Philips sonicare electric toothbrush a couple of years ago and it's sat in the cupboard for probably the last year, preferred my old cheap one.

JengaNonConfirming · 11/08/2021 22:17

Biscoff spread, crumpets and jam will never taste anywhere near as good as crumpets and Biscoff - that spread has ruined me!! Grin

Rec0veringAcademic · 11/08/2021 22:20

Yarn I have never (and probably will not) knit / crochet into anything.

Crockery I bought on impulse after my grandmother passed away because the floral pattern made me all nostalgic.

The hand vacuum I cannot clean properly.

Several meals and treats for an ex. Not to mention contraception.

I could go on.

DonnaDonna01 · 11/08/2021 22:22

La Roche Posay for my teenage DD, her face is now covered in open bleeding wounds and their customer care team have been useless thus far.

Melrose86 · 11/08/2021 22:25

A concrete firepit table that looks terrible after having it less than a year due to weather damage. Cost a fortune and have seen much nicer ones recently that are cheaper. Also the seating is so uncomfortable. Really was a stupid buy.

And recently bought a set of drawers from b&m which after my husband spent ages building I've realised are rubbish as they don't hold enough stuff. At least they weren't expensive.

Suchalicklepumpkin · 11/08/2021 22:27

Cuisinart soft serve ice cream machine. I actually hate ice cream.

xYerDaSellsAvonx · 11/08/2021 22:29

Same. Now I have added pistachio spread to my intake. Never fecking learn.

A tent.
I bought it 10 years ago.
I have not been camping yet.
But I might....

Interesting Dyson/Shark comments. I love my Dyson. It has lasted 2 years and although I think the battery is wavering a little now it's been used every day and earned its fee.
At the back of my mind, though, I always thought I'd made a fatal error in not buying a shark as all I heard was good things but...maybe not so.

verynearlygotme · 11/08/2021 22:32

Our Dyson is great, does all the rooms in a 5 bed house.

For those struggling with bread makers, if you use yeast powder and water, the water has to be just right. Too cold and it won't work, too hot and you kill it. We use a 2 cold to 1 boiling ratio.

My biggest waste of money was a Hotpoint condenser dryer, it's Bosch replacement is 100% better.

DrNo007 · 11/08/2021 22:36

A 2nd hand car that gave off smoke on the motorway on the drive home and never recovered. And two Olaplex products that messed up my scalp for months after just one use.

LordOfTheThings · 11/08/2021 22:36

@PunchedTit4ASoul I need you to expand on this, why smelly? I think MY wanker liftway is smelly but I've been blaming the copious amounts of Labrador hair that I spend my entire life chasing. It does pick up said hair, but what is that smell???

eekbumbler · 11/08/2021 22:37

Washer / Tumble combi.

Washed fine, IF the tumble worked nothing was dry even after 3 hours. It would often trip the electrics too.

Electric spiralizer - what a twat, what was I thinking? Ooh yes courgette/cucumber ribbons, or courghetti cucgetti (made that up)... couldn't handle a carrot, that was too hard.

Pleased to see the Dyson hate - big, clunky, heavy had less suction than my Nans bagged 1970's Panasonic. I've gone back to Henry.

My first packet of fags. I swore I would give up when they went over £1.80 for 20.

Jins · 11/08/2021 22:39

Always the same answer to this question from me - Henry the hoover.

I’ve bought badly before and after but Henry is the worst purchase ever. Useless piece of junk

TroysMammy · 11/08/2021 22:41

Purple dwarf bean seeds. The purple beans turn green when cooked, such a disappointment. Plus point they can't hide in the foliage.

Confusedandshaken · 11/08/2021 22:42

Apple Watch. I'm normally a huge Apple product fan but the watches are bulky, useless, battery draining eyesores. I hate them. And to make it more annoying I fell for it twice! The first time I bought it direct from Apple so was able to return it when I realised it did nothing I couldn't already do more conveniently with an iPhone and a Fitbit. 4 years later I heard great things about the new model so I bought another one. It was the same story. Everything it did was great but my iPhone and Fitbit do the same things more conveniently and in a format visible without a magnifying glass. This time I'd bought it from a third party vendor so could not return for a refund so I sold it on eBay.

Bluebellsinparadise · 11/08/2021 22:43

Memory foam mattress- sweat-tastic!

Dontwatchfootball · 11/08/2021 22:43

Electric shoulder massager. Made me feel worse.

Getawaywithit · 11/08/2021 22:43

Smeg coffee maker. It is so shit that even when we boil the water prior to putting it in the machine, it still comes out tepid to warm. Utterly pointless.

AiryFairy1 · 11/08/2021 22:46

Another vote for a Dualit toaster. When our 14 year old cheap beloved Swan toaster died, we thought we’d splash out on a “proper” toaster and it’s given us nothing but grief 😤
Also, the above ground pool we bought this summer and it’s been used for literally 1 week (not the pool’s fault per se, but I’m resenting the maintenance a Lot!)
